Zeus is a frequent flyer of ours that has finally been relinquished into our care. His previous Owner would let him out to potty- he would go to the neighbor’s yard to eliminate and attempt to go home but he would occasionally get picked up by Animal Control in the process. Animal Control has had good experiences with him in the field and we suspect that some of the fear that we are observing in the shelter is related to the shelter itself.
Zeus has a grade 4-5 heart murmur and will need to be started on cardiac meds. We pulled him for a dental when we noticed this and aborted the dental train. Our vet thinks he will be fine without the dental so we have not proceeded. I have attached his medical history and rads for your review. Feel free to share this with your vet also.
Zeus has been around other dogs here and did well. With people, he is slower to warm up and generally takes a few days before he comes around. Once he knows the person, he does well. He will also takes treats from basically everyone so that helps.
We do recommend he go to a home with children over the age of 10, people are willing to let him come to them and he has space to go to when he is feeling over whelmed.
