Willow will remain in the Recovery Room until cleared for adoption. She will be adopted by her foster family after her knee surgeries. Willow's rear legs are rotated, her stifle (knee) joints are out of place, also called Luxating Patellas. She will be having surgery to repair these issues which will take several months to heal if both legs need to be surgically repaired. We will begin with the right leg first.
Willow is a young Cocker who was lucky enough to leave a puppy mill. Her back legs are a bit deformed but she’s not letting it hold her back! Willow's foster says she is very sweet and warming up to the family nicely. " She’s so quiet—she hasn’t made a peep! She has taken to her foster mom very quickly and is warming up to the husband and young son. Everyone has been able to hand feed her. She definitely sees her crate as a safe space. She will curl up under a table making her own little den. We’ve seen lots of little tail wags and she’s very keen to follow her foster mom around, becoming her velcro dog .
Stay tunned for progress on Willow as we begin to work on her knees.
