Sandy is a retired puppy mill mama who spent 11 years having litter after litter with little comfort or kindness. Now, for the first time in her life, she’s discovering what it means to be safe, loved, and free.
Sandy has a moderately graded heart murmur and is not currently on medications. She also a history of mammary masses all of which have been removed. Some were removed prior to her arrival without pathology tests done, but a few were removed recently are are benign. She had a recent dental so her mouth is now all cleaned up.
She’s adjusting beautifully in her foster home—becoming braver by the day and freely exploring the house with growing confidence. Sandy doesn’t quite understand the leash yet, but she’s a natural follower and walks calmly alongside her foster when off-leash in quiet areas. She’s even accompanied her foster to work, charming everyone she meets.
Sandy is incredibly gentle and gets along well with other dogs. She’s shown curiosity about cats, but not aggression—just an eager interest in sniffing. Potty training is in progress, and she’s getting the hang of the doggy door, though she hasn’t fully connected it to outdoor potty breaks yet.
After a life of hardship, Sandy is finally learning she deserves love. With continued care and patience, she’ll make a loyal, soft-hearted companion for someone special.
