Remington C 26043 “Remi”

Hi! My Name Is Remington C 26043 “Remi”

I'm Available

Remington will remain in the Recovery Room until cleared for adoption.

Remi is a bright, sensitive boy who thrives on structure and clear expectations. He already knows several basic commands, including sit, stay, down, come, and leave it, and he enjoys bonding with his people once he begins to feel safe and settled. He loves undivided attention, playing with a ball and being petted.

Remi is wondering what is going on and is trying to figure things out. He can become overwhelmed and reactive in multi-dog environments. In those situations, he may respond with heightened aggression, including barking, lunging, and snapping. He does best with careful management and a calm, predictable routine.

Remi has many positive qualities, he can be affectionate, attentive, and eager to connect—and with the right environment and guidance, he has the potential to make meaningful progress. He is looking for a patient, committed home that can provide structure, consistency, and understanding as he continues to learn and adjust.

Remi’s History: Remi was not socialized well as a puppy, so sometimes his interactions with people and animals has not always been desirable. He is said to have subtle clues and warning signs that he is uncomfortable, and generally if he is separated from the scary chaos and given a little time and some gentle words, he can calm down. Young Remi does have a bite history. He bit owner’s hand during play. He went to another family member and had some issues there as well. Chaos and confusion seem to make Remi uncomfortable and reactive.  He seems more cautious with males and prefers females.  Remi can be friendly or shy, and playful, but also dominant and / or possessive of what he thinks is his.

Remi’s Needs:  Remi would do best as the only dog in the home at this time, where he can decompress and build confidence and manners without the added stress of other animals.  No Children. He will benefit from an experienced handler who is comfortable continuing his training and helping him develop more appropriate coping skills.  He is currently on anxiety medication and will need work to address his reactivity and to and support the progress he has made.
