Bryant will stay in the Recovery Room, until he is cleared for adoption. He arrived May 2 from a large breeding facility and is facing some significant challenges. When he arrived, he was understandably withdrawn, showing little interest in moving, eating, or drinking. However, after just two days in his foster home, he has made remarkable strides. He is moving around more and beginning to eat—especially when fed by hand. His foster caregiver lovingly describes him as a "miracle dog." It's heartwarming to see his progress, but he has a LONG JOURNEY ahead.
Before arrival, it was suggested both eyes be removed due to glaucoma. After arrival, a vet prescribed Gabapentin and eye drops to control the pain. Bryant will soon see a specialized vet ophthalmologist to explore the possibility of saving his eyes. Bryant also developed a severe infection after his neuter surgery, which led to a second surgery to remove his scrotum.
- **Left Eye**: Bulging with posterior lens luxation and a dilated pupil, indicating vision loss. There is corneal swelling and redness, so the eye pressure is being monitored for the possibility of glaucoma.
- **Right Eye**: has a cataract but has slight vision; also being monitored for glaucoma.
- **Ears**: testing is planned to determine if he can hear.
- **Teeth**: very poor condition, with at least 9 abscessed teeth; this surgical procedure will be performed at a later time.
- **Heart**: heart murmur that will require further investigation.
Please continue to hold hope for this precious boy who has endured so much in his 9 years as a breeding dog. Your support will make a difference, and we encourage you to consider donating to help with his ongoing care.
