Albert

Hi! My Name Is Albert

On June 15th this dog was dumped in the city of Spring Hill, Kansas along with a un altered male Shitzu. This dog was found attacking the Shitzu who suffered severe injuries and was euthanized because of those injuries. The cocker spaniel ran off and ended up in my yard. I took him into my care on June 15th. I have had all of his vetting done, had him neutered and he has been professionally groomed twice so far. I have also bathed him on two additional occasions. He tested hear worm negative and is current on heart worm prevention. No chip was detected and I had him chipped when he was neutered.

He was not house broken and we have been working on that and he is doing well with constant potty training structure. He does resource guard me, toys, and the couch. He does growl at my husband and son daily. They can leave the room and walk back in and he will growl. More so at my husband. He is very Leary of new people. And I believe he has the ability to attack someone he feels threatened by.

I do have a female English Bulldog who is a senior girl. She will be 11 in November. She is extremely sweet, has been cared by me since she was 12 weeks old. She is mostly deaf now. Albert ( Cocker Spaniel ), attacked her this past weekend. He was on the floor with a toy he is protective of and she came to close to his area. He did give a warning growl but I don’t believe she can hear it. His attack was ferocious. She did not attack back. He did not stop the attack I had to pull him off of her.

He has good qualities. He is sweet and loving. But does need a home with no other animals. He needs a female owner as I do believe he is partial to women. He needs an experienced dog owner who can set boundaries for him. He does not chew or destroy furniture in any way. I believe he would be dangerous around children. He needs a single owner or an adult only home.

I need help in finding him the right person. I do jot know how old he is. My veterinarian believes he is between 5 and 7. I think he could be as young as 2 or 3. He loves to ride in the car but need to be contained because he is very over excited. He likes to walk and after some energy burns off he falls in line pretty well. He eats well and is not food aggressive. You can touch him while eating and remove his food and he is non reactive. He growls at any and all noises so he has a difficult time relaxing but does enjoy laying on the sofa.

He is crate trained and does well in a crate at night or during the day when necessary.

I know he will be a challenge to place. I have given him a safe place to land and have done a lot for him and have seen good improvement in him. But I don’t feel it is safe for my other dog. I believe the longer he is here the more possessive he will become over me and he will attack her again.
