MIlo H 26111

Hi! My Name Is MIlo H 26111

I'm Available

Milo will remain in the Recovery Room until cleared for adoption.

Milo has been with us long enough that we have learned that he should really be in a home without other dogs at this time.  He has been fostering with other dogs but there have been some reactive situations where he went after  a couple of the other dogs and pinned them to the ground.  There have been no bites.  He happily runs in the yard and enjoys foraging around.  Milo is quite smart and seems to have the desire to please.  His eyes brightly look for direction from the human.  He seems interested in everything. I really think that with his own person and one-on-one attention that he will accept training and learn basic dog obedience commands.  He should be the only dog in the home at least for now until he learns to calmly share space with other dogs.

Milo has seperation anxiety, he is crated when we leave the house and at night. He sleeps crated quietly next to my bed.  At first Milo did not like the create at all.  However, that is getting better as he seems to be learning that he will be let out after a periot of time.  The crate is a safe place for him sometimes and the other dogs so they are taking turns with free run of the house.     Milo is clever and has learned to open a bi-fold door and had reached his little but long legs to grab something off the kitchen counter top.   Milo would love to be kept busy, near his person, and exposed to new people and places a little at a time.  He seems to be more comfortable with women than men.  Milo needs a home with an experienced owner and a 6 ft. fenced yard. Believe it or not this little man can jump over a 3 ft baby gate with ease!

Milo's History:  He came from a home with 4 other dogs. They were all related. His owner became homeless and could no longer care for him. His owner did not expose him to new people and for this reason, he is going to need a lot of support learning that new people are ok, too.  He does bark a lot before he eventually settles down when he sees his people. He does show interest in meeting and being around novel dogs. The dogs were noted to be escape artists so he will need some monitoring and management around household exit points and should be on a leash when outside. His owner also stated that he needs to be fed separately due to food guarding behavior.
