Buddy will remain in the Recovery Room until cleared for adoption. He has a lot to adjust to since loosing his family after a tragic passing of his owner.
Buddy's intake vet exam revealed a severe ear infection and stenotic ear disease which means that the ear canals have become abnormally narrowed. In advanced or end-stage disease, the inflammation causes the tissues lining the ear canals to become thickened, scarred, and sometimes mineralized (hardened). The canals can become so narrow that air circulation is reduced and normal drainage is impaired. His right ear is affected. Buddy will be scheduled for a dermatology consultation soon. He will likely need an anesthetized ear flush to obtain samples from the middle ears and/or a surgical consultation.
