Toby is a sweet senior boy who loves being a lap dog, car rides, going for walks, and taking
naps. He would need another dog in the home as he is a very social boy and enjoys the
company of other animals. He has never met a dog he didn’t get along with but is unknown
about cats. He is housetrained and has never had an accident in our home. He also knows how
to use a doggy door when we are away from the house. Toby is fully deaf and knows some
obedience hand signals including; sit, off or move, stay, and release. He is eager to please and
is highly food motivated. In the past he has had some food aggression but with trust and training
he has been able to move past those issues. I still would recommend not using high value
chews as he sometimes struggles with being possessive over them. He would not be a good
candidate for someone who lives in an apartment as he barks if he can see or smell unfamiliar
people. He also has been excellent for both the groomer and the vet.
While Toby is in excellent health otherwise, he does have a mass located next to his heart and
lungs below his trachea. This does not stop him from being active or participating in any of his
daily activities but occasionally he does cough. It has been checked out by a vet and does not
seem to be growing.
