Shelby is a very sweet and loving young lady. She is happy, playful, and loves a variety of toys! Shelby particularly loves squeaker toys and enjoys playing fetch. When feeling playful, she may bring you a toy and gently drop it at your feet to request playing fetch. Overall, Shelby is gentle in play; friendly to people; happy; active & playful. Shelby is also a very smart and quick-learning dog. She currently knows how to sit beautifully and is learning commands like “look” and “leave it”. She has shown excellent progress in her training, and is food driven, which has also helped her successfully train. When on a walk, Shelby does great and does not pull when using a harness. She does well when walking past unfamiliar dogs but may bark if a dog gets too close or tries to meet her on the leash. Throughout the day, Shelby will often rest by her favorite humans or play with toys. She is easy going and loves to follow her favorite humans around the house. Shelby also loves to snuggle on the couch, lay on her back, and have her belly rubbed. There is a chunk of her left ear missing from a past bite in her prior home. It has healed and causes her no problem. Shelby is crate trained during both the day and at night. When leaving her in the crate during the day, she may whine or bark, but tends to relax and stop barking within a few minutes. At nighttime, she does not whine at all when put in the crate, and sleeps throughout the night without waking. Shelby appears to do well with dogs after meeting them a few times. She is currently learning to live with another dog at her foster house and learning how to share toys and space with the dog. She has shown improvements related to this and is also still learning to respect other dogs’ boundaries in the home. I believe Shelby could live effectively in a home with another dog given that their personalities are a good fit together, as she tends to follow our current dog around the house. Shelby loves to play fetch with her ducky and likes exploring outside. She hangs with the other dogs and will seek out her person. When Shelby is tired from all her activities, she has a comfy bed to nap in, but would prefer to cuddle with her person. Might that person be you?
