Patrick is ready for his forever home! He has done well with both men and women. He will bark to start with, but it doesn’t take long for him to settle down. He does seem to really want to please his humans. He has done well with dogs bigger dogs. He will chase cats. He LOVES playing with his 45lb foster sister. He can give her a run for her money. He was neutered recently and still has some of those hormones and tries to be the dominate one in the house. His other foster brother isn’t totally sold on him and will let him know he needs to back up and Patrick listens. He is very much a puppy and will need obedience training. He does sit a bit but not for too long, he has lots of puppy energy! He gets a bit mouthy when playing. That has slowed with some correction. No young children for Patrick please!
Patrick also has triggers with grooming tools. He is not a fan of grooming. We have shown him a comb (just laid it on the table or on the couch next to us) and he will attack it. He also nipped his pervious foster when she tried to bathe him. I don’t think he likes to feel trapped. He will need a vet that can work slowly and gently with him at vet appointments, or he will need to be muzzled. I believe that when he feels trapped or like something is going to happen to him that he doesn’t like it. He needs someone to be patient with him as you teach each other. Patrick has had a couple accidents in the house, but I feel that is my fault as I am still learning his signs. He loves to cuddle with his foster mom and dad on the couch. He also does well in a crate. He is currently sleeping in a crate at night and has been left for short times in the crate during the day. He loves Kong’s and playing in the pool. He truly is a love bug and just needs a little extra TLC!
