Ollis is in need of a foster move. He is also avaiabe for adoption.
Ollie is a sweet, playful, curious guy who has an abundance of love and dedication for his new family. He is housetrained, uses the doggy door confidently, and is getting more and more comfortable with his crate every day. He knows his basic command, has great recall, and is a very good listener-- Ollie really wants to please his people. He is highly food motivated which makes reinforcement of skills and possibility for advanced training a breeze. He is very reserved and unsure of himself in new environments, which can lead to protective behaviors when he is unsure. A fenced yard is ideal for Ollie.
Ollie’s protective behavior, particularly around the household: Cowering when things move too quickly. Warms up to new a environment within a few days of quiet, low-stimulation, predictable structure and response. He needs very slow introductions to strangers. He shows more reservcation towards men showing protective behaviors.. He is highly food motivated, which helps in redirecting him toward calm behavior. Reactivity / aggression appears to be related to the protection of his person but has been managed with slow introductions and a lot of positive reinforcement. He has recently been started on a Prozac trial.
Ollie would do best in a home with minimal introduction of people inside the house until he is confident and comfortable with his environment. Knowing his reactivity with some men, it would be best to have a male and female in the home, or females only. Ollie will do best in a patient, predictable home with confident and assertive people (and dog friends) to help him continue to learn about safety in the world, and to continue with his positive training so he can blossom into the smart, silly boy he is.
