APPLICATIONS ARE CLOSED. Louie is getting adopted by his foster.
Louie came into rescue with a severe heart murmur and an enlarged heart. After diagnostic testing, he was diagnosed with Patent Ductus Arteriosus (PDA). In simple terms, this is a congenital abnormality which is due to the failure of a muscle in the heart to constrict, leaving an abnormal passageway for blood flow and resulting in left-sided heart disease or generalized heart failure. This would lead to serious and life-threatening complications if not surgically repaired. Louie had his heart surgery on February 15, 2022 and is doing well. He has some residual heart damage that will be managed on heart medications and regular echocardiograms.
Thanks to so many people who generously gave donations for Louie's heart surgery to be made possible.
