Lois will remain in the Recovery Room until she is cleared for adoption.
MEET LOIS: The Velveteen Queen of the Couch & Car!
Hello, world! My name is Lois, and I am a 10-year-old, 100% genuine, certified Velcro-spaniel looking for a full-time human to adore. After being rescued from a Tucson shelter, I’ve decided that life is best spent right by your side—whether we’re at home or on the go!
What makes me the perfect sidekick?
A Little Maintenance for a Lot of Love: I’m a very good eater, though I do stick to a special renal diet to keep feeling my best. I also get twice daily drops for my dry eyes, which is a small price to pay for a girl as cute as me!
My Wishlist: A cozy home, a comfy couch, and a human who needs a loyal, car-loving best friend to follow them through life. Are you ready to have a permanent, furry, Spaniel-shaped shadow? Let's hit the road together!
Where Did Lois Come From? Lois is a very sweet, senior Cocker Spaniel that was saved by an animal protection officer in Arizona. She was taken to the local shelter after being found in an open garage by a member of the public. Lois arrived with injuries and severe, age-related medical concerns. She was quite sick and began receiving immediate vet care to get fully accessed.
Upon arrival, Lois did not want to eat or drink; she was very weak, unable to stand for very long. She had a head tilt and multiple scabs, and large draining abscess on her head and neck extending to her ear. Her ear canals were swollen and infected, and her eyes were infected. Her lungs were congested; she was coughing and had drainage from her nose. Her bloodwork showed suspicion of infections, as well as kidney disease, and possible pancreatitis. The vet cannot tell if Lois is spayed or not. Lois was a very sick dog!
Over several days of closely monitored care in her foster home, on appropriate medications, Lois began to eat and began to walk and seek out areas of the foster home and the other dog in the home. She now has a good appetite. Her neck wounds have healed. Her white blood cell count is back to normal.
