Joe will remain in the Recovery Room until cleared for adoption.
Joe was surrendered to RMCR because his owner has been transferred overseas. Joe is independent, energetic, physically strong, trainable, eager to please, and good with people and dogs. He loves being outside, running, and chasing squirrels. He plays at home and with visiting dogs, he loves big and small groups of people and dogs. Joe is very motivated, intelligent, and eager to please. He is very trainable! Will cuddle with you on the couch if you invite him but he is also just as likely to be found alone in his bed or watching out the window. Joe barks at the delivery person, or any noise outside. He is a great watchdog and makes you feel safe knowing he has your back. He gets very excited and jumpy when guests arrive but settles within 10-15min. Sometimes growls or barks when guests or owners leave, he doesn't like to split up the pack. Joe can get "grumpy" around bedtime, will growl and curl lips, maybe even gentle nip, when petted at bed time, but never bit or been openly hostile. Not leash trained, pulls a ton, only due to lack of training.
The best home for Joe will have a fenced yard, with an active walking owner. Since Joe barks at noises, an apartment would be difficult until trained/desensitized.
More to come on Joe.
