Hi! My Name Is Jackson H 24071

I'm Available

Jackson will remain in the Recovery Room until cleared for adoption.

Hi, my name is Jackson!   My foster Dad calls me Action Jackson because I've got lots of energy.  Jackson came to RMCR because his owner passed away and he was dropped off at a shelter. Jackson is a sweet and gentle boy and everyone who meets him falls in love with him. Jackson's teeth and mouth were in very bad shape when he joined RMCR; consequently, all of his teeth and a benign growth were removed from his mouth. He is feeling much better following surgery, and he is getting used to having no teeth. Jackson eats kibble softened in water with a generous helping of soft and yummy fresh food. He is food motivated yet needs extra time to finish his meals. He is working on gaining a few pounds and currently weighs about 22 pounds. His gait is a bit stiff due to arthritis. Jackson is mostly deaf and has low vision; he does take his cues from my other Cockers, and he appears to enjoy being part of the pack of household dogs. He does not have a great sense of personal space and often stands very closely or on top of my other Cockers.  They seem to understand that he's an older fellow and they vacate the area with a little growl under their breath. Jackson loves to play with toys and gets very excited when you toss a toy for him to chase. Jackson cannot navigate stairs due to low vision, arthritis and lack of familiarity. Jackson is a very quiet dog and barks only on rare occasions; he's been with us for several weeks and I've heard him bark twice. He loves to go for walks with my other dogs, although we limit the distance and walk slowly for him. Jackson is crate trained and will often rest in his crate without prompting. He sleeps overnight in his crate and when we leave the house. This helps reinforce house training; we've also become accustomed to his routine and that has helped us know when he likely needs to go out. He may need a little more time once outside to do his business as he likes to sniff around the backyard and explore! Jackson is also accepting of a belly band. Jackson does love to be around his people as much as possible and he follows his foster Mom all over the house. Jackson is a real sweetie pie and would love a retirement home where he can give and get lots of love!!
