Freddie will remain in the Recovery Room until clearerd for adoption after he gets neutered. His foster will adopt.
This young, sweet Cocker Spaniel came to RMCR from a New Mexico Shelter. He was found as a stray. Freddie has a wound on his leg which is healihg nicely.
Freddie is a sweet eager to please little man. He will sit for his dinner and sit for his treats. He has shown no signs of food aggression, or any aggression at all. He can be a little bit mouthy when taking treats, So I would recommend making him sit before giving him anything and then he takes it gently. He has exhibited some separation anxiety, but it is less and less as time goes on. I would recommend to crate or confine him with dog gates when left alone at the beginning.
Freddie does not show any signs of ever having been abused. But he does appear to have had very little training. He gets along well with my cat, my cockers and my big dog. He does pull a little bit on a leash and he is all over the place for about the first 10 minutes. A mile walk does tire him out right now. He behaves appropriately with everything we have encountered on our daily walks.
Freddie needs someone with patience and understanding to help him with training and housebreaking. It will take some time for him to put on weight and regain full strength for long walks. Whoever adopts Freddy is going to get one of the best dogs ever who will be affectionate and entertaining. His favorite place to be is right next to a human.
