Dude is a very sweet boy! He is very smart and knows some basic commands: sit, high five, wait/ go buddy [for his food], gentle [for treats]. He absolutely loves food but needs to lose some pounds so we keep him on a diet - not too many treats, although he gets some occasionally for being the amazing, good boy that he is! He is house trained and is good by himself the days we need to go into the office. He is crate trained but would love to sleep by your feet in bed if allowed.
Dude has some separation anxiety. He will follow you around everywhere. If he sees you but can't get to you, he will cry. He does not cry when home alone, possibly because he is with my dog. They both soothe each other. He loves to lick too, if you tell him to stop licking you, he will lick the air and the walls - his bone and toys help. I have not seen him interact with a cat, but he did have a cat sibling at his previous house for 3 years.
Dude came to us with some leg issues. He loves his short walks and cuddling on the couch. Especially the left rear leg needs monitoring for torn ligaments. Since Dude is a small dog, our vet has recommended observation for a couple of months to better evaluate the need for surgical repair in the future. We were told by Dude’s prior owner that he has shallow shoulder pockets and cannot be lifted from under his front arms. Our vet examined him and said that his shoulders palpate normally, and they are stable.
Dude is now seeking his new forever family. He would love to have another dog in the home. A fenced yard would be best. Dude is extremely sweet, lovable and funny. Anyone would be lucky to have him!
