What do you get when you cross a Cocker with a Cavalier? Double the sweetness! Chili is a young gentleman who is happy to chill with you at home, enjoys making you happy, and will take all the ear scratches you can dish out. He’s still learning about new places and new noises, and can be shy until he gets to know you — then it’s all tail wags. He gets along well with both of his foster mom’s cats, quickly overcoming his surprise at how big a cat can be, and cat-naps with them on the couch. He does well in his bedside crate overnight, going in willingly for bedtime snacks and sleeping through the night. During the day he’s content to nap under the desk, occasionally checking on noises.
Chili tends to whine if alone, or barks from a crate when nobody is home. He MIGHT benefit from the company of another calm dog or a human until he can get more used to being left alone. On intake we were told that he could be dominant or bossy with other dogs, so keep that in mind. He is learning basic commands - “sit” came right away but “stay” is tough for him - why be separated?! Leash walking is a breeze, especially if he gets to smell the best smells and the squirrels stay in the trees. He’s potty trained and has mastered asking to go outside by sitting at the door. He would do great with a dog door.
