Bentley will remain in the Recovery Room until cleared for adoption.
Bentley is a very sweet cocker. He is gentle, friendly & happy-wants to be where ever his special person is. Bentley is tall and long, and weighs a bit over 30 lbs. He is good at night about sharing your bed and can be persuaded to sleep on his own side with the use of a blanket he thinks of as 'his'. He has not had a yard at his most recent home and walks very well on a leash, except when he sees another person or dog that he wants to meet (then he barks loudly with a typical cocker wiggle butt). He knows commands such as come, sit, wait, and stay (except his definition of "stay" is a brief pause). He is good about letting one know when he wants/needs to go out to potty and also when he is due for his thyroid pill twice a day. He may have been overfed by his previous own and often whines while current foster is eating as if he thinks he is underfed. He still has about 3 lbs. that he needs to lose according to vet. His eyesight seems to be very good, but his hearing is not as sharp. He doesn't seem very interested in toys, just being close to his person. He is currently living with a cat, and they get along well and sometimes play a bit. If the cat runs, he will chase him but otherwise doesn't pay a great deal of attention to the cat. He has had very little experience with children while in the rescue other than meeting them on walks and he seems OK with any and everyone who wants to pet him. He is accustomed to sleeping in a kennel when everyone is gone. He will howl at first but then settles down and is sleeping usually when owner returns.
Bentley is going to make a wonderful addition to a family's home and a compassionate companion.
