Amber is a wonderful, sweet dog! She is gentle and loves to give love and be loved! She is a little shy at first but is easily won over with kind words and lots of pets! She is currently overweight, so her adopter will have to work with that and make sure she doesn’t get lots of treats or any people food. She has some anxiety due to lots of changes in her life. Amber likes her routine and seems to benefit from being around small, calm, confident dogs. When experiencing new things she really clings to physical and verbal reassurance. She would benefit from some training to help boost her self esteem! Amber adores her snuggles and loves being the big spoon in bed with her foster mom. Once she grew accustomed to her foster mom’s work routine and realized her foster siblings weren’t stressed, Amber did very well with being left home while she was at work. She enjoys toys and it’s a pretty normal occurrence for her foster mom to follow the trail of toys to figure out where she went! She understands “sit” and knows “down” means she’s probably on something she shouldn’t be (like an occupied kitchen chair where there’s no space for her…but that won’t stop her from trying!). Children and very exuberant, large dogs seem to be too “busy” for her and make it difficult for her to relax. While she’s fine with people leaving the house for work/errands/hikes, being alone for longer trips would likely make her feel insecure. Amber is truly a wonderful dog and if your house is full of some calm, go-with-the-flow folks she would fit right in!
