Meet NOS! A 9-month-old Cocker Spaniel and recent mill rescue who is already showing how much he has to give and receive! Puppy fun! He is very bright and learning to sit, come, leave it and work with a leash.
NOS wasn’t your normal puppy mill dog, very little startled him and any kind of insecurity is quickly leaving his mind and heart! He gets along wonderfully with my dog, who was a puppy mill dog as well, born blind and only 3 years old – still a puppy himself.
Key characteristics of NOS:
- Friendly with people, on occasion has shown a little reluctance in warming up to men.
- Great with other dogs.
- Almost 100% potty trained! Only 2 accidents in over 3 weeks!
- Vet was impressed at how healthy he is and was amiable to touching his mouth, examining his teeth, ears and paws.
- Training has gone well with treats as a reward! Extremely food motivated.
- A couple of skirmishes with other male dog, over a treat and was protective of his food a couple of times. Best to feed and give treats separately.
- He is growing and eats his breakfast and dinner fast! I have found that a puzzle, cognitive feed bowl and feeding him in 2 shifts has helped.
- He does get car sick – but to his credit, he has only been in the car 3 times in his life, rescued from the puppy mill, ride to his temporary foster home and to the vet. Practice makes perfect!
NOS is an active little boy. He loves to jump and run w/ the zoomies. And the sweetest in the morning and loves cuddles and belly rubs after a good stretch from a good night’s sleep. He is a very special boy with an old man’s face that is to die for!
