Meet Pretzel! He is a 1 yr old handsome, black, male Cocker Spaniel with a white stripe on his belly and a tiny white goatee on his chin. He has had a lot to learn since we rescued him from a puppy mill just a few months ago. He now has a new life. Meeting people and allowing handling and friendships is a new adventure. Pretzel is an inquisitive, smart boy who learned how to use the dog door immediately. He has mostly mastered doing his duty outside. He may still have accidents inside until he is used to a routine. He is doing well with house training, especially if he is escorted out rather than taking the initiative. Pretzel needs more leash training; he is not great with the leash or commands. He is steadily overcoming his skittishness with people, loud sounds, quick movements, and things he is unfamiliar with. He has not had exposure to children or cats. He can have barking episodes when he is unsure of something or someone. Slow introductions are important.
Pretzel is very canine-oriented and would love another young dog to live with. Pretzel would blossom with a loving family that includes other dogs closer to his age that he can frolic and hang with. A fenced yard is a must.
