Charlie will remain in the Recovery Room until cleared for adoption. His foster plans on adopting him. He is heartworm positive and is at the beginning of his treatment which will take a few months.
Charlie, a two-year-old cocker spaniel, arrived in our care without any previous care or training. Following his first week with us and a visit to the vet, it became evident that he was also unwell. Charlie tested positive for heartworms and had hookworms. Despite his high energy levels and love for running in the yard, we faced challenges in slowing him down for treatment. Eliminating the hookworms took several weeks, and the road to treating his heartworms would be lengthy. Charlie received his first heartworm injection and responded remarkably well. The second and third injections are scheduled for later in November. He is currently on multiple medications, including sedatives to help keep him calm. This little guy deserves to experience love and care. We have a few more months before he can return to a normal life.
Charlie has bonded well with his foster and is thriving in a home where is being be both loved and guided. With patience, training, and consistency, this sweet boy has so much love to give. Once he has finished his heartworm treatment he will be ready for his forever family.
