Chumbo will remain in the Recovery Room until cleared for aoption. He came into rescue with bladder crystals but is doing well. He has started a urinary diet to prevent bladder crystals. We will repeat a urinalysis a few weeks after stareing the diet.
Chumbo is a special do that we call “Bo”. Considering his rough beginnings and abandonment at least twice, he’s very affectionate and rolls over for belly rubs constantly wanting to lay next to you on the couch or just follows you around so he can be wherever you are in the house. He still has some reactive behavior whenever eating or drinking. Also, will nip at you when he’s “guarding” his toys. He still needs more leash and general behavior training. He does not understand “sharing” or playing with people. Chumbo is on a prescription diet to prevent kidney stones and is doing well on that diet. He doesn’t bark or run to the door, so he needs to be taken out every few hours. Once you learn and respect his quirky behaviors and avoid them, he’s actually a very well-behaved dog and great companion.
