King Charles is a Compassionate Care Dog.  He is going to be adopted by his foster mom!

King Charles came to rescue at about the same time as the New King of England.  So, he was named after King Charles! Our King Charles “KC” is a handsome senior Cocker found as a stray in Phoenix, Arizona.  “KC” wins the hearts of everyone he meets because he is so loving and affectionate.  If he doesn’t feel he’s getting enough love, he will gladly head-butt you to demand more affection.  He has extremely good manners. KC needs a fenced yard so he can go out as frequently as he needs to. Limited stairs or no stairs due to his arthritis. He’s very intelligent and trained himself to use the doggy door almost immediately.  Despite his age, he really enjoys having an active playmate – and he’s equally comfortable with large and small dogs.  He has been around cats and ignored them but knowing his personality, his foster believes he would bond with a loving cat or dog. KC is a velcro dog.  He definitely prefers someone who is home most of the time although having another dog(s) might ease his separation anxiety.

Regarding King Charles’ Health / Compassionate Care Issues:   He does mark, at least some, and has no problem wearing a bellyband.  Despite advanced arthritis KC is happy and active. His overall health has stabilized but still needs close follow-up and management regarding liver/ gallbladder, potential renal / kidney issues. He is a great eater but needs a special diet due to slightly elevated liver values and his potential for urinary tract infections.  King Charles is partially blind/deaf. He can hear and respond to some frequencies.  He takes cues from his foster mom, understands clearly what he’s being asked to do, and responds well to having a routine.   His new health issue is seizures, he is on long term medication to control them.

KC has a few age-related challenges, but his foster mom says he really is the perfect dog
