Tommys Shadow

This dog has an adoption application pending.

Tommy’s Shadow, a male American Cocker Spaniel, was affectionately called either Son or Woo by his owner who recently passed away.  As his health failed, his owner’s only concern was that Woo would be taken care of.  His family isn’t able to keep Woo, so they’ve asked us to help find him a new forever home where he will get the same love and attention to which he has become accustomed.

Woo is 10 years old and has just traveled from southeast Arkansas to join our rescue.  He is black with a white streak on his muzzle and chest and weighs around 20 to 25 pounds.  Woo has some minor health issues, as we would expect with any senior, but is still very healthy.  He will have a health check and be up-to-date with all his vaccinations and be neutered prior to being adopted.

Woo is house trained, but since his owner passed away his routine has been upset in that his current foster in Arkansas works nights and sleeps days, so he doesn’t get taken out regularly and has had accidents inside the house.  Once he gets to his new forever home, he should be able to return to his usual schedule and remember his house training. Woo is terrified of thunder, so he will need reassurance during the rare thunder storms we have in Colorado and perhaps his new parents will work to desensitize him to this fear.  He’s also scared of fireworks.

Woo has never been crated and likes to sleep close to his person.  He is a typical Velcro dog in that he wants to be beside you whether you’re sitting or walking around the house.  We do not know how he is around children, but he seems to be fine around cats, so we would recommend a home with older children.

Woo is a very special Cocker who recently lost his best friend with whom he was very close. We think he will be a phenomenal companion for someone who is willing to lavish him with love and patience. He has had a lot of changes in a short period of time, but he will recover and bond quickly and deeply with you if you are lucky enough to adopt this sweet boy.  Since Cocker Spaniels can live 16-18 years, Woo is in the prime of his life.  He’s past the high activity puppy stage with a lot of life still in him!

If you are interested in meeting Woo, please fill out one of our online adoption applications.
