Talockey
Talockey is an 11 month old male Italian Greyhound mix, fully vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped. He does great with other dogs, big and little, great with kids, new people, is housebroken, needs work with cats (he chases them) and barks at them. He loves to run, very gazelle like, and acts very much like a puppy in many ways.
When he meets new dogs, he growls and sometimes the hackles go up, but we let him sniff from outside snarling range for a few minutes, then he wants to get closer and closer, and in a few minutes the hackles go down and he is totally fine off leash to play nicely. He has a flare up with labs espically, and takes a few more minutes than other breeds to calm down, but he always does calm down and will play without being aggressive. He handles this situation the same with puppies as with older dogs, it’s almost always as decsribed, but we have yet to have him not get over it in a reasonable time period. He is much calmer with new dogs outside or in home settings, for some reason at the vets office it does take a little longer (6-10 min) to be ok. Be never tries to bite people, nor acts aggressively with people at all, even if you pick him up during the warming period, you can touch him and pick up his legs, open and close his mouth manually rub his ears, etc., and never has acted aggressively. He plays well with small kids, he will run around the house and yard with them. He is still working on coming when you call him.
He loves to ride in the car. He isn’t food aggressive at all, you can take his food from him and give it back fine, you can hand it to him, without losing fingers, he sits on command, and will sit up and beg on command. He will let the kids pick him up and hold him. He lets the kids take things out of his mouth. He sometimes thinks they are playing and runs playfully when they try to take their toys back from him. But he always is very kind with them. He very much loves to cuddle. If you are sitting watching TV, he wants to be in your lap. But he won’t growl to react at all when other dogs come up to you when he’s in your lap. He walks on a leash very well. He loves to be around other dogs, no matter whose, and plays and plays. He doesn’t seem to have any separation behaviors. He’s all in all besides the cat thing a very calm, mellow dog.
