Sophia is a seven year old cream colored female Cocker Spaniel that came to us as a stray from southern Colorado.

Sophia is a bit of an alpha female. She lives with other dogs and gets along well, but when she is initially introduced to other dogs, she needs to establish her place in the pack – which she feels should be top dog! It seems intimidating to witness, but they are soon great pals. We feel that she should be placed in a home without young children for this reason as well.

She is spayed, microchipped and up to date on all of her vaccinations. Her teeth are worn, possibly due to chewing on a chain or a metal kennel, but RMCR is having them cleaned and any restorations deemed necessary. She loves riding in the car and adores attention. She would also do well as an only dog and would make a wonderful companion.

If you are interested in meeting Sophia, please make sure you have completed an online adoption application.

Skipper is a three year old male Cocker Spaniel that came to us from one of the Denver shelters. He’d been picked up as a stray and no one claimed him.

Skipper impressed the folks at the shelter because he seemed to know basic commands. He also did not soil his kennel, preferring to wait to go outside to do his business. With reinforcement, praise and consistency he will most likely be fully house trained. He was neutered when he came into rescue and has had all of his vaccinations. RMCR will microchip him for you.

He is very friendly, likes to go on walks and be with you and follow you around. He has a long tail that doesn’t stop wagging. He appears that he should to be an only dog. He is very, very possessive of tennis balls and he loves to play tug of war. Because of his possessiveness, we recommend that he not go to a home with small children. We’re not sure how he reacts to cats, so a cat-free home is probably best.

If you are interested in meeting Skipper, please make sure you’ve completed an online adoption application.

Cooper is a six year old white male Cocker Spaniel. He has a full tail and weighs around 29 pounds. Cooper is hearing-impaired and may be totally deaf, although he gets along just fine. He was badly matted when he was found so we don’t know how long he had been stray or what his living conditions were prior to being picked up. Cooper traveled all the way to Denver to find a new home. He is neutered and up to date on all of his vaccinations. RMCR will microchip him for his new owners.

He is a real lover. The only thing he desires is attention and love of his person. He doesn’t want just a little scratching; he wants long term attention! He is good with the other dogs and doesn’t display any aggression at all. So far, he seems to be housebroken and knows that the outside is where you do your business. Cooper would make a fabulous addition to any home looking for a devoted pet.

If you are interested in meeting Cooper, please make sure you have completed an online adoption application.

Mopsy has adoption applications pending.

Mopsy came to us a matted mess from Utah. He was found as a stray and was never claimed. We had to shave him down and he looks quite different than when he came in. His white and tan fur blended to an almost buff color when it was long, but shaved down, he had definite spots! He’s quite small, weighing only around 20 pounds. Mopsy is new to the rescue, so as soon as his fosters determine more about his personality, we’ll update his post here to tell you more about him.

Mopsy is neutered, up to date on his vaccinations and RMCR will microchip him for you so that if he ever gets out again, we’ll be able to get him back to his home. If you are interested in meeting Mopsy, please make sure you have completed an online adoption application.

Woody is one of our senior rescues. We don’t know his actual age, but we’re estimating him to be in the neighborhood of around 10 years old.

Woody came to us with several issues including a luxating cataract, facial paralysis, dermatitis, and chronic ear infections. He has had his ears and teeth cleaned. Being an older gentleman, he has a hard time hearing and seeing. We’re hoping that a wheat-free diet will help maintain his ear health and also help with his skin condition. Although his facial paralysis is permanent it is cosmetic only and has no negative impacts on Woody. This was most likely was caused by ear infections that were not properly treated. He is up to date on his vaccinations, neutered and house trained. He gets along with kids, other dogs, and we assume cats.

With that being said, he’s still a loving fellow that hopes someone will want to give him a home where he can live the rest of his live in comfortable security. He gets along with his foster family’s other dog and follows him around. He is even sleeping in the teenage daughter’s bed. Woody’s favorite things to do are to go on a walk, ride in the car, chew on a bone, and sleep.

Since Cocker Spaniels have been known to live up to 17 years, Woody still has several years to go. If you are that special person that would like to give him a home for his golden years, please let us know. We’d love to introduce you to him.

You can fill out one of our online adoption applications if you are interested in Woody.

Emma was found as a stray and is searching for her forever home. She is a sweet, chubby girl. She is about five years old, spayed, and up to date on her vaccines. She is house trained, good with children, cats and dogs.

She is a happy and wiggly dog and when you pet her she grunts and groans. She is so cute. She was so badly matted when she was discovered that she had to be completely shaved so you can grow her hair out into whatever haircut you like.

She does not get along with other dogs but is okay with cats, seems to just ignore them. She is afraid of stairs at first but after some time she will go up and down them. She is a real sweet dog. she likes to go on walks. This dog is very loveable.

Harry is another little boy who was a walking smelly mat when picked up. The shelter shaved him, and he’ll look much better when we get him groomed and his teeth scaled! Harry has been neutered and has all his shots and a microchip. He is a very affectionate and lively two-year-old Cocker with a long tail. He loves chasing balls, laying in laps, giving kisses, and playing with the other dogs. He seems to be fully house-trained and chews only on his chewie toys. The cats haven’t ventured near yet, but he’s shown appropriate interest when he catches sight of them. Harry knows his name now, and knows “come”: he is working on sit, down, and off. Harry is an absolute joy to have around! He has not needed to be crated and has free run of the den at all times.

My name is Lexi! I am an approximately 3-4 year old female buff and white cocker spaniel, although I may have some mix involved -perhaps a little Schnauzer, but who knows? I was found as a matted, dirty stray in Nebraska and brought to Colorado. Once I was here, I got bathed and groomed, and had to be shaved, so I look a little scruffy right now, but my fur is growing back soft and clean. I have the thickest, darkest eyelashes you’ve ever seen! My foster parents say I am a good, smart dog, so don’t you want to be my family?

Lexi is a GREAT dog! She knows her name, and knows sit, lay down and roll over! She is working on heel and stop when on a leash. She will go in a crate, but is fine left loose in the house during the day, with no accidents. She learned the very first night that she sleeps on her own doggie bed, not on our bed. She rides well in the car. She likes nylabones and squeaky toys, and is good with adults, children, and other dogs, but LOVES men most of all! We don’t know about cats. She is quiet and rarely barks in the house, but has a big dog bark when she does bark! She loves to curl up next to you on the couch and give kisses and get pets. Her only bad habit is that she gets very excited and will run away when off leash, so we are working on come and stay here. She is very smart and learns quickly, and is very “well adjusted” for all she has been through. You will not be disappointed with Lexi!!

If you are interested in meeting Lexi, please complete one of our online adoption applications.

Cody is a sweet, affectionate, buff-and-white, male American Cocker Spaniel. This little guy was found as a stray, so we do not know his history, but we believe he is between one- and two-years old. He is not excessively energetic; however, he loves romping in the yard with other dogs and tries to play with his foster mom’s cats. Cody plays well with children as young as 5-years-old. He’s a little shy at first and somewhat insecure until he gets to know someone new, but once he warms up he is just a lover who enjoys people’s attention. Cody loves to play with balls and squeaky toys and he is learning tug-of-war with the other dogs. As you can see by his pictures, he loves rawhide chewies, also!

Cody does have issues with men initially, he tried to attack a foster’s husband when they first met and he also tried to bite the vet during the exam, but he can be sweet talked with gentle voices, petting and yummy treats. The husband was able to pet him and Cody was not afraid of him after the first evening.

He is house-trained and crate-trained and uses the crate voluntarily. At night he is loose in the house and does not have any accidents. This very gentle boy is learning his basic commands such as ‘sit’ and ‘come’, but only ‘come’ is solid at this point. He has not shown any resource guarding issues; his foster mom can take away his food or chew toy without incident. Cody is neutered and up-to-date on his shots, so he’s ready for his new forever home! If you are willing to work with him and socialize him to strangers, Cody will be a wonderful best friend for you!
