My name is Lexi! I am an approximately 3-4 year old female buff and white cocker spaniel, although I may have some mix involved -perhaps a little Schnauzer, but who knows? I was found as a matted, dirty stray in Nebraska and brought to Colorado. Once I was here, I got bathed and groomed, and had to be shaved, so I look a little scruffy right now, but my fur is growing back soft and clean. I have the thickest, darkest eyelashes you’ve ever seen! My foster parents say I am a good, smart dog, so don’t you want to be my family?
Lexi is a GREAT dog! She knows her name, and knows sit, lay down and roll over! She is working on heel and stop when on a leash. She will go in a crate, but is fine left loose in the house during the day, with no accidents. She learned the very first night that she sleeps on her own doggie bed, not on our bed. She rides well in the car. She likes nylabones and squeaky toys, and is good with adults, children, and other dogs, but LOVES men most of all! We don’t know about cats. She is quiet and rarely barks in the house, but has a big dog bark when she does bark! She loves to curl up next to you on the couch and give kisses and get pets. Her only bad habit is that she gets very excited and will run away when off leash, so we are working on come and stay here. She is very smart and learns quickly, and is very “well adjusted” for all she has been through. You will not be disappointed with Lexi!!

Ernie is a beautiful, buff and white, neutered American Cocker Spaniel who was found as a stray. We believe he is around 1 year old. Ernie gets along well with children, other dogs and all the people he has met so far. He is friendly and playful. He is up to date on his vaccinations. Cats are fun to chase and children even more fun. He seems to like children more than adults. He is slow to warm up to you but once he trusts you, he’s fine. Very loving boy. LOVES tennis balls, he’ll happily go get them, but he won’t bring them back. He’s been collecting toys and hiding them. We’re working on crate training, but currently Ernie is fearful of crates, possibly from previous bad experiences with crating.

Cody is a sweet, affectionate, buff-and-white, male American Cocker Spaniel. This little guy was found as a stray, so we do not know his history, but we believe he is between one- and two-years old. He is not excessively energetic; however, he loves romping in the yard with other dogs and tries to play with his foster mom’s cats. Cody plays well with children as young as 5-years-old. He’s a little shy at first and somewhat insecure until he gets to know someone new, but once he warms up he is just a lover who enjoys people’s attention. Cody loves to play with balls and squeaky toys and he is learning tug-of-war with the other dogs. As you can see by his pictures, he loves rawhide chewies, also!
Cody does have issues with men initially, he tried to attack a foster’s husband when they first met and he also tried to bite the vet during the exam, but he can be sweet talked with gentle voices, petting and yummy treats. The husband was able to pet him and Cody was not afraid of him after the first evening.
He is house-trained and crate-trained and uses the crate voluntarily. At night he is loose in the house and does not have any accidents. This very gentle boy is learning his basic commands such as ‘sit’ and ‘come’, but only ‘come’ is solid at this point. He has not shown any resource guarding issues; his foster mom can take away his food or chew toy without incident. Cody is neutered and up-to-date on his shots, so he’s ready for his new forever home! If you are willing to work with him and socialize him to strangers, Cody will be a wonderful best friend for you!

Duncan is a beautiful, black English Cocker Spaniel with a little white streak on his belly. He has long legs, so he’s on the tall side for a Cocker Spaniel and he may be an English Cocker Spaniel mix, but there is definitely no American Cocker Spaniel in this gorgeous boy. Since he was found as a stray, we are not positive on his age, but we believe he’s between 1 and 3 years old. His foster mom calls him “Romeo” since he has not yet been neutered, but that will be taken care of before he goes to his forever home!
Duncan is very sweet; loves kids, men, women, dogs and cats! He knows some basic commands, is house trained and crate trained. He settled in immediately to his foster home and was friendly with everyone. Duncan LOVES to play with other dogs, so he would do very well in a home with another young dog as a playmate to help him burn off some youthful energy. He is up to date on his vaccinations. This boy will be adopted very quickly, so if you are considering him, do not delay in contacting us!

Jim and Aspen
Aspen found a new forever home after she was found as a bedraggled stray full of mats a few weeks previously. She once was lost, but now forever found in a loving home where she will be with her beloved mom and dad at all times whether it’s going to the park, working on cars, visiting the grandchildren or just hanging out.

Dawn and Tionne
Jill, David and their children are providing the loving family and home that Dawn and Tionne never had. Dawn and Tionne were found together as strays in a neighboring state. They were horribly matted when taken in by a fellow rescue, but they accepted the hours of grooming needed to get them back in shape. After a few weeks in foster care, they found their way to this wonderful new forever home where they get daily walks and playtime with their family! We are so happy for all of them!

Telly is a sweet, quiet and gentle 10-11 year-old male Cocker Spaniel who is smaller than a typical Cocker. Telly was found running as a stray so we do not know much about this fellow, but he is healthy, up-to-date on his vaccinations, neutered and ready for his new forever home.
Cockers generally live to be 15-18 years old, so this little guy has plenty of life and love left in him. If you would like to meet Telly, contact Susan at sblummanick@aol.com for an adoption application.
