Paris is a very friendly seven year old female carmel colored Cocker Spaniel. She is very sweet, and does get intimidated easily. She has no aggression whatsoever towards people or animals. She is spayed and her shot records are up to date and aren’t due until 2012. She had a disc herniation at one point but fully recovered. House trained is taken care of and she also knows the commands to sit and come. She barks some when she doesn’t know the stranger but that she means no harm. She likes the outdoors but mostly enjoys being loved.

Blackie is approximately nine years old and is looking for a new home. Her mom has to relocate and will be traveling with the relocation, so she felt it best to find Blackie a new home where she can be treated like a princess! She is a little overweigh, but she gets along with kids and other dogs, so a home with more activity would help her get back into shape. We’re not sure about cats. She is house trained and can be trusted to be left free inside unattended. She’s up to date on her vaccines (rabies vaccine is due in September). We’re not sure if she is microchipped, but we can take care of that upon adoption.
Nine years might seem fairly old, however Cockers typically live 15-16 years , so she still has a long life ahead of her. She deserves the chance to live her golden years being spoiled!
If you think you’re the one to receive the love of this wonderful girl, please make sure you have completed one of our online adoption applications. Her mom has to move on July 10th, so don’t wait!

Tinker is a courtesy cross-post for another rescue. If you are interested in Tinker, we’ll put you in touch with someone who can help!
Tinker is 14 years of age, and all vetting has been sponsored for her including a health certificate if she is adopted to the Colorado area. We are working with the shelter to buy her some additional time in hopes that if we cross post extensively that someone will see the URGENT ADOPTION NEED, and extend a loving invitation to bring Tinker to their homes to live a happy and health remainder of her life.
Tinker is healthy, with no known health issues, all vaccines are current, and she has been bathed and groomed. She is social in ALL aspects, with other animals, children, and LOVES people. Tinker is housetrained and a lovely little wigglebutt lover. Her need is of course urgent as you know the situation of which we’ve discussed. Tinker’s owner surrendered her to the Emporia Animal Shelter because she could not afford to have her euthanized. (She is healthy – so there was no need to put her down. Apparently the annual expenses of grooming, and general care were more than the owner could afford, so she took her to the shelter.
The adoption fee for Tinker is ZERO for an approved applicant!
If you love seniors the way we do, please consider letting this little girl live the last few years of her life knowing that she is still loved. Please don’t wait!

This is Buddy. He is a little over six years old and is an owner surrender. The owners had to move and are only allowed one small dog, so Buddy is currently staying with relatives.
Buddy is a little overweight, so he would benefit from a new owner that likes to go on walks – slowly at first so as to not overburden him. He’s not really good around children because he gets over-excited and jumps on them and scares them. He would do best in a quieter home with owners that can give him attention that he needs. He’s crate trained and house trained. He does lunge while on the lead, so he would need some training in that area.
He likes chew toys and to play fetch and knows simple commands such as “sit” and “lie down”. He is up to date on his vaccinations (due March, 2012) and is neutered. We’re not sure if he is microchipped, but we can take care of that once he is adopted.
If you are interested in meeting Buddy, please make sure you’ve completed an online adoption application.

Would you look at that face??
This is Spice! Spice is around two years old and he is an owner surrender. His owners adopted him around four months ago. They have four young children and are finding that they do not have the time to devote to Spice and feel that it’s in his best interest to find him a new home.
Spice experienced some trauma in his original home and has some fear issues. He’s quite timid and, because of that, is displaying some submissive urinating. He needs a quiet home with experienced owners that can help him work through these issues. Spice is an extrememly sweet and gentle dog. He has great potential if someone is willing to give him a chance.
He is up to date on his vaccinations (his rabies is due in November, 2011). He is neutered and crate trained. He needs a little help on the lead, but he likes to go for walks. If he is not currently microchipped, RMCR will take care of that as well.
If you are interested in meeting Spice, please make sure you’ve completed an online adoption application.

Molly is a three year old black and tan female Cocker Spaniel that came to us from Arkansas. A local rescue convinced the owner to surrender her because she was locked outside in a dog run full time. It turns out that she has belonged to the owner’s daughter and was an indoor dog, but when she was given to the owner, she was banished outdoors. She was free-fed and consequently, she’s put on a few additional pounds that will require diet and exercise to resolve.
Molly is a total sweetheart. She loves to be petted, especially if it’s a tummy rub. She would be perfect for any family as she gets along well with kids, cats and other dogs. She is up to date on her vaccinations and is spayed. RMCR will ensure that she is microchipped for you as well.
If you can look past her current size and know that you can help her get back to a healthy weight, and you are interested in meeting her, please make sure you’ve completed an online adoption application.

Buddy is a seven year old neutered male Cocker Spaniel that is an owner surrender. He belonged to the owner’s neighbors who have recently passed away and she cannot keep him, so he is looking for a new home.
Buddy has never been around children or cats, so we recommend a home with adults. We also recommend that he not go to a home with other dogs that are smaller than he is due to his behavior while on walks. He is house trained and can be trusted to be left unsupervised for extended periods. His only behavior concern is that he can be snappy when the owner tries to wake him from sleep while he is on the sofa. He sleeps in the bed with his owner and she can move him around without incident while in the bed.
He is up to date on his vaccinations (rabies are due in December 2011, distemper in August 2011). He knows “sit” and ‘stay” and likes to play with his special rubber balls and rope toys.
If you are interested in meeting Buddy, please make sure you have completed an online adoption application.

Clarence is a 5-6 year old Cocker Spaniel mix, most likely with a Springer Spaniel. He is an owner surrender.
Clarence was adopted from the Denver Dumb Friends League and has been with his current family for around five years. He was uncomfortable around men, but has been treated with Prozac and has been doing well. Although he has been around small children with no incident, he recently snapped at the owner’s nine-month-old child. Although he has never bitten anyone, they are concerned that he will bite the child and feel it best to find a new home for him. He knows how to shake, give a high-five, and jump through a hoop! He loves to follow his owners around, even the dog-sitters.
Clarence seems to be willing to please, but perhaps had some trauma in his earlier life. He would do best in a home with experienced owners with no children.
Clarence is up to date on his vaccines. In addition to his Reconcile (Prozac for canines), he also take an inexpensive medicine for hypothyroidism on a daily basis. He is neutered, crate trained, has had professional training and enjoys going on walks. He is house trained and can be trusted to be left alone indoors for extended periods of time.
If you are interested in meeting Clarence, please make sure you have completed an online adoption application.

Hershey has adoption applications pending.
This beautiful two-year-old chocolate female is named, appropriately enough, Hershey!
Hershey is an owner surrender. Her current owner has a toddler and just doesn’t have the time for another youngster like Hershey. So, she’s looking for a home with other doggy playmates, or kids that will play with her gently. She is house trained and is current on her vaccinations until September 2011. She’s very smart and knows several commands. She knows she is not allowed on the sofa in her current home. She is crate trained, but is not totally fond of being crated. She can be trusted to be left alone in the home unsupervised. Hershey is not currently spayed, so RMCR will take care of that surgery prior to adoption. We will also ensure that she is microchipped.
Hershey would love for you to take her on walks or to the dog park. She loves to look for squirrels and rabbits and would really like to chase them! If you would like to give her a new home, please make sure you’ve completed an online adoption application.

Charlie is around 3-1/2 years old and is a chocolate Cocker Spaniel with white markings. He is being surrendered by his owner and is looking for a new home.
Charlie’s owners love him very much and he loves them, but he is very protective of his mom. When friends or family come over, or if strangers come to the door, Charlie can become very protective of her. That’s not a bad thing, but a new baby is on the way and they fear that Charlie will not understand that he will have to share affections with the new one and feel it’s best to find a new home for him before the baby arrives. Charlie currently takes medication once a day to help him with his anxiety issues.
Charlie is fairly small, weighing only around 20 pounds. He’s neutered, microchipped, and is up to date on his vaccinations. Charlie is house trained, but not crate trained. He does not like to go on walks. He enjoys playing tug of war and likes his Kong toy.
The best environment for Charlie would be a quiet home with adults, or maybe with older children, but definitely not small kids. He would do best as an only pet. He is happy just being with his people.
If you are interested in meeting Charlie, please make sure you’ve completed an online adoption application.
