Introducing Cocoa–a sweet chocolate colored Cocker boy of around 4-5 years. He is sedate and affectionate, calm and loving. He chews nothing but his food and toys, and loves having his tummy scratched. Cocoa gets along well with other dogs, is crate trained, completely housebroken and up to date on all his shots. He has been neutered and microchipped. Coca know sit, come, off, and cookie! He hasn’t been to an adoption event yet so we don’t know how he is with children, but he has done very well with visitors to his foster home–other than trying to lick them to death! Cocoa has some really droopy eyelids. We are having them checked out by our veterinarian.
If you are interested in Cocoa, please complete an online adoption application.

Malcolm is the good ol’ boy with the heart of gold. He kinda ambles when he walks, so nonchalant. He will set and think a spell before coming over to shyly put his head near your knee so if you are inclined to pet him, he’ll be nearby. Foster Mom got him in her lap once and she thought he was going to faint with joy. But, he doesn’t take anything for granted, so he won’t push his luck. You have to let him know “it’s OK”.
He uses the pet door and is good on the leash. His main goal in life is to please someone with hands to pet and arms to hug. He should be fine with children and maybe with cats, but his goal and dream is to have a human of his own.
Malcolm is a year and a half old. We feel that he is a mix, but are unsure of his pedigree. He was surrendered by his owner due to financial hardship. He is neutered, microchipped and up to date on all of his vaccinations. If you are interested in meeting Malcolm, please complete an online adoption application.

Charlie Brown is approximately seven years old and is being surrendered by his owner due to a change in family dynamics.
Charlie’s owners have had him since he was a puppy. He is a wonderful dog in almost every respect but he does not like children. They just had our first child one year ago and feel that they cannot allow them to be together without worrying that he might act aggressively towards her now that she has become more mobile. Charlie loves to give and get attention and is generally very sweet. He is smart, has had obedience training and is completely housebroken.
Charlie is up to date on all of his vaccination and is neutered. He is currently on a small dose of medication due to a recent thyroid issue and is responding well. Charlie is crate trained, but prefers not to be crated when his people are home, although he will occasionally go into his kennel to sleep. He has been known to be protective of his food. He likes to play with his toys, especially his rubber chicken and squeaky soccer ball. He likes to nap on the couch and go to the dog park.
If you are interested in meeting Charlie, please complete an online adoption application.

This pet is: up to date with routine shots, already house trained, altered

My name is “Socks”. I am a confident and happy 4 year old red and white Cocker Spaniel boy. I am neutered and all my vaccines are current, and tested heartworm negative too! I am here at the Rockin’ Paw with my family (Goldie, Thumper, Lady, and Joey). My dog dad had to give us up when he lost his job and his home. It must have been terrible for him to decide which one of us he could keep. We lived in his car with him for awhile hoping that there would be some way to keep our family together, but it just was too hard and he had to sign us in at the shelter. I am safe now, but I really miss having a person of my own. I love to play and run in the yard chasing tennis balls. I am housetrained and mind very well. My foster mom says I would make a great walking buddy for some active family. Call and visit about me today – I cannot wait to come home with you!

Update: Molly has an adoption application pending.
These three darlings were born in January and are all looking for new homes. There are two boys and one girl. We are calling them Huey, Louie and Molly.
The little girl suffered trauma to one of her eyes and is currently recovering in a foster home with several medications. We are seriously hoping that the medicines and some TLC will allow the eye to heal. While she was under anesthesia for the repair work on her eye, we took the opportunity to have her spayed. She has also had the vaccinations recommended for a puppy her age and has also been dewormed.
Neither boy has been altered yet. Please see our policy for adopting puppies that are too young to be neutered on our Adoption Information page. They boys have received their vaccinations and have been dewormed.
Due to their age, they are not yet house trained, however our foster parents will begin teaching them. Successful house training will require that the adopter continues the training with consistency, taking them out often and giving lots of praise when the job is done.
If you are interested in meeting one (or more) of these little ones, please complete an online adoption application. Very few people can resist an adorable Cocker Spaniel puppy, so these guys will be very popular. Don’t wait!

We’re pleased to introduce you to Penny! Penny is five years old and is being surrendered by her owner due to divorce and relocation.
Penny is house trained and kennel trained, although her owner lets her have free reign of the house when she’s not at home. The best home for Penny would be with an active single person or couple. She loves going on walks. She would do best with someone who is very patient, loving and kind and would let her sleep with them or sit with them on the couch. She loves to be held and cuddled. She is sweet and loving and likes to be around you all the time, so it would need to be a home where she can be with them in the kitchen, etc.
Penny does get along with other dogs, but would prefer to be the only dog in your life. She is jealous of babies and toddlers, so any children should be older. She’s never been around cats, so we recommend a cat-free home. She’s not a barker – she only barks when someone rings the doorbell to let you know you have visitors. She’s also a great runner. She can run alongside a bike on a leash. She loves to play outside, chase birds and squirrels in the yard. She loves to chew on toys and chew sticks. She’s spayed and up to date on her vaccinations.
If you are interested in meeting Penny, please complete an online adoption application.

Please note: Kaylea has been adopted. She is no longer available for adoption.
Kaylea is spayed female Cockapoo that is almost 2-1/2 years old. Her mom is having to relocate and cannot take her along. Here is what her mom has to say about her:
Kaylea is an indoor-outdoor dog, with freedom to be wherever she wants. She has a fenced (4 foot) back yard and has never jumped the fence. She loves to chase squirrels and would climb the apple tree if she could. She loves to play fetch with her sqeeky toys and can always be relied on to return the toy, but she likes to play a little keep-away, as you can see in the picture. She will “drop” her toys on command. She will also “sit”, “stay”, “lay down” (she thinks that means rolling onto her back for a belly rub). She will “come” unless she is tracking something with her nose to the ground, so I never let her run loose. I put her on a long lead out front and she’s very content. She loves long walks on the leash, and I use a harness for the occasional pulling ahead – she can’t wait to see what’s around the next turn. She lets joggers, hikers and bikers pass without any problems. She usually wants to sniff out any dogs. She does the shy “knee hug” sometimes when people want to pet her, but once they have, she’ll flop onto her back for tummy rubs. She has never, ever snapped at anyone. She has had brief tussles with other dogs, but it’s all show, and I think it’s just them sorting things out. She used to be best friends with a big lab-rotty mix, and they’d play and run together. She would try to pull toys out of Maggie’s mouth. She has lived with cats without any problem.
She is completely house-broken. Indoors, Kaylea is a snuggler. She will curl up next to me or on my legs when I’m relaxing. She sleeps at the foot (only) of my bed on her little blanket. She has a large wire kennel and will go into it when I say the “kennel” command, but I stopped having her stay in it while I’m at work once I figured out she’s not a chewer or destructive. I keep the kennel door open and she often naps in it. I only use positive reinforcement for training. She loves her biscuit rewards. She is up to date on her shots and has never had any health problems.

Otis is a 2-3 year old Cocker mix that came to us as an owner surrender from Kansas. He is neutered, up to date on all of his vaccinations and is microchipped.
Otis is a wonderful guy, but he is displaying some resource guarding towards his environment. He wants grow up to be a guard dog! Anyone interested in Otis should be an experienced dog owner who is willing to be the alpha in the home. He will need training and supervision when outsiders visit the home. We recommend that he not be adopted to a home with children. Otis is fine with other dogs (he loves to play with them), but he does not like cats. He is working on his house training with his foster dad. Otis uses a dog door, but doesn’t realize that he needs to go outside to do his business.
Otis was teased and tormented by neighborhood kids in his previous home, so this may be an indication as to his current behavior. We feel that with training, he will be a wonderful pet.
If you are interested in meeting Otis, please complete an online adoption application.

Buster is a beautiful, buff and white, neutered American Cocker Spaniel who is being surrendered by his owner. We believe he is around 1-1/2 years old. He gets along well with children and other dogs but is a little shy around some men. Otherwise, he is friendly and playful. He is up to date on his vaccinations. Cats are fun to chase and children even more fun. He seems to like children more than adults. He is slow to warm up to you but once he trusts you, he’s fine. He is a very loving boy.
If you are interested in meeting Buster, please complete an online adoption application.

Harley Henry Allen is an eight year old tan and white parti-colored male Cocker Spaniel. His owner is surrendering him due to health reasons and hopes that someone will give Harley the home he deserves!
Harley loves to run and, before his owner got sick, would go for walks with him every day. They went fishing together and even went hunting. Because of his hunting experience, he’s not scared of loud noises like firecrackers or thunder! He’s great with kids and other pets. He has been known to jump short fences, so his new owner will need to have at least a 6 foot fence. He’s not a big barker, but will join in if other dogs get him going. He’s good with the groomer, is neutered, house trained and up to date on his rabies vaccination. He will need his other vaccinations, but RMCR can take care of that before he is adopted. We will also make sure he is micro-chipped if he is not already.
His foster mom has this to add:
I must start out with the bad news. Only Men may apply. His foster Mom is female and every time Henry leaves to go to adoption events with the male driver and then returns to his foster home, he gives a disgusted glance at her cheery greeting. Goes to the end of the sofa and parks, looking out a side window. Oh, she can pet him. He allows that. And will, if required, accept treats from her hand but this guy has a background of hunting and manly games. No silly, frilly stuff for him. A woman can prepare the meal and puff his bed. But he is very watchful. As the days progress he will eventually move on the sofa closer to the foster mom and may even wag his tail at her overtures of petting. At the end of the week he is off to visit, with others, the people in the pet store with a large supply of male hormones.and chest thumping. Returns home again with that same look. He is house broken. Uses the dogie door. Not an aggressive eater. Good on the leash. If you ever wanted a cuddly “Cool Hand Luke”, here he is. Oh, all that hunting made him love open space so, could you have a big yard, well fenced?
If you would like to meet Harley, please complete an online adoption application.
