Benji’s Happy Tale

Allen and Elaine with Benji

When we first saw little Benji as his previous owner relinquished him due to her allergies we knew that he would not be in foster care for long. Cockapoos in general are very popular dogs, let alone a 14 month old cutie like this one. Allen and Elaine took no time at all in deciding that Benji belonged with them. Likewise, Benji made himself right at home by wandering into their bathroom and grabbing the toilet paper off the roll. Manners aside, he won their hearts immediately and now has a wonderful country home and parents who are home much of the time.

Bailey

Bailey is a small, 5.5 year old, neutered male Cockapoo who was surrendered by his owner due to her health challenges. This cutie pie is a little intimidated by new dogs, especially bigger dogs, but once he gets to know the dog he is fine and would love to have a buddy. Bailey would also love to have school age children to play with in his new home.

Bailey is house trained, but not crate trained. He may have a little separation anxiety since his owner reported that he sometimes marked the baseboards (nothing else, just the baseboards) in some rooms when he was left alone. This behavior can be eliminated through training.

This little boy also loves to rip up his blanket or bedding, so we would recommend that he have an old blanket to call his own that he can tear to his heart’s content. Of course, Bailey would love squeaky toys, balls and chew toys as well! No little Cockapoo’s life would be complete without lots of toys to carry around and call his own.

Bailey would love a home with a fenced yard and doggie door so he can come and go as he pleases. A privacy fence would be best so he isn’t tempted to bark at the passers-by. He would be a very happy dog if he could have another playful dog and/or children aged 7 years and older to play with every day.

Bailey is up to date on all his vaccinations and ready for his new forever home!  Just fill out this online application form.

Eli

Eli is just about two years old and was surrendered by his family because of allergies.  Here’s what his foster mom has to say about him:

Eli is like a 1940’s Bogart lover.  He swoons against your leg when  you sit down and walks between your ankles to state his territory. He sits, comes when called and uses the pet door to do his necessaries in the back yard.  He has put weight on during his first two years our of sheer loneliness.  But, surrounded by friends,  he doesn’t seem to need food as much and eats very little.  He’s just too busy being happy.  He would like to sleep with you but accepts the crate if you ask. When I say he is sweet, it is an understatement,   He is so eager to please, it’[s almostembarrassing!  He LOVES having his own person and he will never bore you if you are a stay-at-home owner. You will have a loving companion that will make you feel like royalty.

Eli is up to date on his vaccinations and is micro-chipped.  This litte guy will find a home quickly, so if you are interested in meeting him, please complete an online adoption application.

Flag

Flag has an adoption application pending!!

Flag is a nine year old Cocker Spaniel that recently lost his owner and is looking for a new home.  He is a black and white male with a full tail and came into rescue with his best pal, Maddie.  He would like to be adopted with Maddie, but it is not necessary.

Flag is neutered and is up to date on his vaccinations which will be due in June 2010 except for rabies which will not be due until June of 2011.  Flag has issues with some other males and would prefer all of your attention if possible!  He seems to do fine with other females.  He is house trained and is in good health.

Flag’s former owner had her own home-based business and was at home with him a lot, so he is used to having someone around.  Currently he spends 5-6 hours unsupervised and is fine.  The best home situation for him would be with owners that either work part-time, have a home-based business, or are retired.  He would really like a nice fenced yard so that he can get out and investigate.  We recommend a home without young children since he’s never lived in that environment.  He has done fine with children at adoption events.

If you are interested in meeting Flag, please complete one of our online adoption applications.

Ginger

Ginger is a three year old buff female Cocker Spaniel.  She’s fairly small, only weighing about 20 pounds.  Ginger gets frightened when she’s left alone, so she would really like to have a home with other dogs.  That way, when her people have to go out, she won’t be left by herself.  Currently,  she lives alone with her people and gets scared when she’s left alone and that leads to an upset tummy.  She has a friend, Angus, that sometimes comes to play and when she and Angus stay home alone, she’s just fine.

Ginger likes to go for walks and play with tennis balls or her rope toy.  One of the photos above shows her playing tug with Angus.  She likes to sleep in the bed with her people and is comforted knowing that they are near.  She would benefit from having a quiet environment with other dogs or children to play with.

Ginger is up to date on her vaccinations.  She is spayed, house trained and leash trained, but does not like to be crated.  If you would like to meet this adorable little girl, please complete an online adoption application.

Logan

Logan is almost ten years old and is looking for a new home.  Her family has had her for her whole life, but now that there are children, she’s feeling a little left out!  Also, the youngest is allergic to her.

Logan often gets mistaken for a puppy, and since Cocker Spaniels can live up to 16 years, she’s still fairly young!  She loves to play outside and go for long walks and chase balls.  She gets along with other dogs and cats, but would really like to live with a new owner that will spend more time with her and make her the center of attention.  She would also probably be fine with older children that would play with her.

Logan is spayed and will be up to date on her vaccinations and microchipped before she goes to her new home.  She’s house trained, crate trained and leash trained.  If you are interested in meeting Logan, please complete an online adoption application.

Jovi’s Happy Tale

Kathleen with Jovi and Kealy

New mom, Kathleen, says it best:

On the day Jovi arrived, I knew this was a good fit. Jovi ran around and around in the house, his rear end wiggling enthusiastically the whole time. Kealy, of course, was a little overwhelmed by all of Jovi’s energy that day, but they have now settled into a playful relationship. I opened the door to our backyard that day and Jovi galloped out, down the stairs, and proceeded to run in circles throughout the entire yard. There is a retaining wall in my back yard which is only about 3 feet high. It was just joyful to see Jovi leap up and down and up and down from the upper level to the lower level and back again.

Some of the most fabulous things about Jovi are, of course, his beautiful face and soft coat and his wonderful personality. His size is perfect for our home and yard. My house is scattered with his toys, kind of like a big playpen. Something for him to chew on is always just a few feet away! I don’t mind at all! He has already torn apart a stuffed squeaky toy, looking for the plastic squeak-maker, just as my terriers have always done. We play tug-of-war every evening. Jovi and I have taken some long walks and he meets many dogs along the trail. He is always friendly and ready to play with them. Whenever I push the ice dispenser on the front of my refrigerator, he jumps and jumps in anticipation of the cube that will surely fall to the floor into his domain. The tricks he knows are the icing on the cake. What a lovely dog.

And we add – what a lucky dog!!

Boots’ Happy Tale

Teresa and Boots

Boots came to us from Nebraska after his elderly owner realized a two year old dog had too much energy for her 80+ years. This totally adorable American Cocker Spaniel stole a lot of hearts, but he saved his heart for Teresa who saw him at one of our adoption events at Petco. Boots and Teresa have bonded tightly in their few days together; he never wants to be parted from her and covers her in kisses when she comes home! This precious dog loves to be carried like a baby with his head on her shoulder! We are so happy for this little boy who is now the center of his mom’s attention and life. Teresa receives his unconditional love and full attention. He even ignores the guinea pigs in the home! They snuggle together all night, take long walks, and play fetch when he isn’t in clicker training to become a perfectly trained pup. We think these two will be velcroed together for many years to come.
