Emma

We’d like to introduce you to Emma!

Emma is 3 years old and is quiet, yet very affectionate! Emma loves to lay on the couch with her head on your lap and have her head and ears scratched, and of course, she loves her belly to be rubbed also.

Even at 3, Emma still has lots of puppy energy. She likes to have space to run in big circles in the back yard as fast as she can.

Emma greets guests well and doesn’t shied away from lovin’ from anyone.

Emma has graduated from obedience school, and when you tell her lets go to bed she goes right into her kennel. Emma sleeps well and gets up around 7AM, She will give you a little woof if she needs to get out sooner, but that is very rare.

She loves the morning, often letting out a cute, little howl when you are letting her out of her kennel in the morning.

She is used to having a doggy door, but when the dog door is not accessible to her, she will go to the door and paw at it a little or come and get us when she needs to go out. She has not had an accident inside since she was house trained as a puppy.

Emma loves to explore, she is nose to the ground on her walks and around the yard. At the dog park she greets other dogs submissively, may pee a little. She does get excited sometimes and may pee just a little if nervous but that is rare and hasn’t happened in a long time. If she is in a new home, that might happen a little until she gets used to everyone and her new situation.

She has a few toys that are her favorites. She really does love to chase after her toys and will bring them back to you to throw again after a brief game of tug of war.

Emma needs to be in a home without children, as she tends to get very jealous.

Joey

Joey has been Adopted!

Let me introduce you to 6 year old Joey.  He is a very handsome black and white Cocker Spaniel with just a touch of brown on his muzzle.  Joey came to us after his owner became unable to care for him due to illness and age.  Joey is an interesting dog who is learning how to be a dog within society.  In other words, Joey has lived since a puppy with an older man in a small apartment.  He did not have the opportunity to interact with other dogs and few children.   He would be taken out a few times a day for potty but did not get much exercise or activity.   Joey was afraid to go outside without a leash when we first got him.  Now he will go into the back yard but wants someone to be with him.  He does better out there if there is a person and / or another dog or two with him.  Joey has been isolated his entire life and the last couple of weeks have opened his eyes to an entire new world and he is changing into a new dog.  He had to be slowly introduced to the other dogs in his foster home.  At first he did not do well as he wanted to mount everyone, which caused some disagreements within the pack.  However, after 4 days with slower and fewer introductions, and with using calming essential oils, an anxiety vest from Calming Companions,  and some energy work and behavior training Joey is learning that other dogs are ok and that they can provide canine companionship for him.  A rumble here and there with swift correction and re-direction is helping Joey very much.  He has picked the dogs in his foster home with whom he will hang out without mounting.  The others he still wants to mount or attack so they are kept separately when Joey is roaming free in the house.   It has been challenging yet interesting working with Joey and seeing how intelligent he is.   Joey will need a person who will continue to work consistently with his behavior challenges and socialization.  Joey’s foster mom can answer your questions about him and his progress.

Joey is healthy and has a beautiful, soft coat.  He was never given dog food, only human food which his owner would cook for him as he cooked his own food.  He would eat only beef, chicken, turkey and pork chops, that’s it.  They certainly were dinner companions.  He had a vet check-up just before coming to us and the vet said that he had never seen a Cocker with such good ears.  (A great promotion for home prepared meals for dogs).  As an adopter you will be given instructions as how to do prepare home cooked meals if you desire to keep that up for Joey.  In the foster home Joey is still getting his meat cooked with added veggies with the intention of trying to get him to transfer over to kibble if he will do so, but as his foster mom I can’t recommend highly enough the home cooked diet.

Joey will be microchipped, neutered, have a cherry eye repaired, and his teeth cleaned, as well as being up to date on his shots before adoption.  If you would like to learn more about Joey and talk to his foster mom please fill out an adoption application on line and you will be contacted for an interview.

Zero

This is Zero.  He is a precious and wonderful 3 year-old and has lots of energy.  He has the waggiest tail there is!  Zero needs a home with a fenced yard.  He is protective over his toys and food. He is great with kids, but we aren’t sure how he will do with other dogs/cats. Zero is a cocker mix and we think his daddy may have been a corgi.  His foster says “He’s one of the sweetest dogs I’ve ever met. Someone interested in a true companion dog will be very lucky to have this one!  He’s a doll!”

Bodhi

Bodhi has been Adopted!

This is the handsome Bodhi! He is a sweet and friendly guy. His family had to move into a small apartment and are now having their second child. They no longer have the space accomodate his need for play and outdoor access. They want the best for him and so they are surrendering him to give him a better quality in life. He does fine with cats, other dogs and older respectful kids. Bodhi isn’t quite 2 years old and will need a yard to play in! He gets along great with his 2 legged (older) and 4 legged foster brothers and sisters.

Wally

Hello there!  My name is Wally and I am 7 ½ years old.  I am looking for a home where I can be loved forever and be taken care of and allowed to be a big part of a family.  You see, I was rescued from a shelter after my owner took me there because he lost his home and didn’t have a place to live.  He got me as a gift when I was just a puppy and I lived with him all this time as an outdoor dog and I would be alone without human companionship over 12 hours a day.  I did like to chase the birds once in a while. I didn’t have any other dogs to play with and did not get much attention.   Just the lonely backyard, and in the winter it would get really cold out there.  When my owner took me to the shelter he said that I am friendly and that I was no trouble at all and never caused any problems but he just didn’t have a place for me anymore.  I stayed in there for about a week until Rocky Mountain Cocker Rescue came and took me out of there.  What a happy day that was!  But I was sick by then and they didn’t know what was wrong with me.  My ears hurt a lot and when I urinated, blood came out.  It was scary!  I really needed a bath and a haircut too because I looked like an old shaggy dog instead of the cute Cocker Spaniel that I am now.

I just had to tell you all about me so that you will know how much I have been through to get to this point and how much Rocky Mountain Cocker Rescue has done to help me so that I can be ready for a new life.  I know what love feels like now and I really want to hang on to it.  My foster mom says that I am such a good little dog.  She says I am gentle and kind and that I remind her of a butterfly.  I get along with all of the other dogs in my foster home and all of the people too.   I love to hang out with my foster family.  I love to cuddle and I give very soft doggie kisses.  I am obedient and crate trained.   You just won’t find a better dog than me.

I am not quite ready yet to leave my foster home because I need a little more time to heal from some surgery that was in the beginning of April.  My foster mom will tell you all about it if you are interested.  If you are interested in me, you could go ahead and submit an online adoption application.   When I am ready, my adoption fee will be $250.00

Maggie

~ ~ ~ APPLICATION PENDING ~ ~ ~

Allow us to introduce Maggie!  She is a four year old buff female Cocker Spaniel who is an owner surrender.  The owners have had Maggie most of her life, but all family members are allergic to dogs and the situation is getting worse rather than improving, so with a heavy heart they are looking to find her a new home.

Maggie has been cared for very well.  She is family and kid friendly and loves to play.  She would benefit from some continued training but she is house trained and uses a dog door, so we highly recommend that her new owners have that facility available for her, otherwise there could be accidents.  She is OK with other dogs and cats, although she likes to play with the cats who might view this behavior as aggression.  Maggie has been known to escape a fenced yard when there were low spots in the fence line, so care will need to be taken to ensure gaps are closed.  She loves her toys!

Maggie is spayed and up to date with her vaccinations.  If she is not already microchipped, RMCR will ensure that’s done for her new owners.

Daisy

Daisy is a nine year old black female Cocker Spaniel that is looking for a new home.  She is an owner surrender.  The family has two other dogs with which Daisy has never bonded.  The family dynamics make it difficult to deal with the interactions of the three dogs and they feel Daisy would be better off in a different environment. Daisy is very sweet and loving dog and would do better with an owner that can give her the attention she deserves.

Daisy loves to be a lap dog, and gets along with her Foster’s dogs, two males about 7 years old. Daisy doesn’t seem to mind cats at all.

Daisy is spayed, up to date on her vaccinations and is house trained.  RMCR will ensure that she has a microchip if she does not already have one.  If you are interested in Daisy, please make sure you have an online adoption application on file.  Daisy’s adoption fee is $250.

Cita

Cita is a lovely mink or sable colored, spayed female Cocker Spaniel who is about 3 ½- 4 years old.  She is quiet, obedient, polite, and loves to be a best friend.  Cita was surrendered to us with her companion cocker, Paco, who you will see in a separate write up.  They were best buddies in their home and were surrendered because their family was moving to a no-dog apartment.  Cita is housetrained and crate trained and does well with other dogs.  She has been in a home with a toddler and has done well.  Cita loves to be outdoors looking around and enjoying the outdoor scents.  It would be heavenly if Cita and Paco could be adopted together but if that is not on their future please consider having another companion dog in your home for Cita.   Cita does attach to humans rather quickly and loves to shadow and cuddle with her humans.   She is up to date on her immunizations, is microchipped and will have her teeth cleaned before adoption.  She does need leash training so that she does not take so much control on a walk by pulling ahead.  Cita is a wonderful and loving dog whom I would love to call my own.

Mia

**MIA HAS AN ADOPTION PENDING!**

Please meet Mia. She is a spayed 2 year old cutie who was owner surrendered.  She has a sweet personality and gets along with children and other dogs.  She likes her people and will follow them everywhere.  Wherever you are, there’s Mia. She is shy with strangers at first, but will be friendly when she approaches them.She enjoys walks and lots of playtime.  Mia is housebroken, and in her new home she will only need to be shown the way to go out a couple of times. She is looking for a forever home.  Mia will make a good family pet.

Paco and Pepe

Here we have Paco and Pepe. These cute boys are being surrendered because their current family is moving and can’t take them. Paco is the red cutie and is around 7 years old and his current family describes him as very fun loving, funny personality, full of energy and always on the go. He loves all kind of toys and is a “kid” at heart. Pepe is the black cutie and is about 9 years old and is described as being a very mellow and loving dog. These boys have grown up together and we would love to see them placed in a forever home together but we are willing to seperate them if you only have room for one in your home. They will need training as they still have accidents in the house. Their current family thinks that they will do fine with some training, as they have never gone though any before.
