Rocky Mountain Cocker Rescue

Poncho

Poncho has a pending adoption application!  You can still apply with the understanding that he may not be available.

Meet Poncho!  Poncho is a two year old neutered black and white Cocker Spaniel that came to us from Arkansas.  He looks to be at least part English Cocker Spaniel, if not full blood.

Poncho is great with other dogs and children of all ages, and we assume he would be fine with cats.   He has a great personalty – he smiles and shows his front teeth and wiggles his little rump at the same time.  He rides well in the car and is fine on a lead, although he does tend to pull a bit.  He is up to date on all of his vaccinations and is heartworm and Lyme Disease negative.  RMCR will make sure that he is microchipped for his new family.

If you are interested in meeting Poncho, please make sure you’ve completed an online adoption application.

Micki

Micki has an adoption application pending!

Micki is approximately 2 years old. Micki is all black with the tiniest of white speckling on his legs and head. He is as sweet as you can imagine, he is a real Casanova with everyone he meets. He loves to be petted and thinks he is a big lap dog. Micki and gets along with other dogs (after an initial adjustment period) and he just loves older children. He has not been introduced to children under 10 or cats so his reaction to both is unsure at this time. He is neutered and up to date on his vaccinations and is micro chipped.

Micki came to Denver in November 2011 from Hiawatha, Kansas. He was matted quite badly, but after a bath and a groom he is a very handsome chap, so silky soft. He is not quite sure of the leash yet so he does have a tendency to pull and dart. Micki has learned about crating at night and figured out the dog door the first time he went through it. He is not an excessive barker and is very gentle when receiving treats. He is playful but still learning what a toy is.

He loves to run and investigate every little corner of the yard and can be outside for up to an hour at a time. Micki is highly alert to open doors and he has a tendency to try to escape. He would be very hard to catch if he not stopped or his behavior modified. We have recently learned that Micki likes to skooch under the frnce or try leaping it. Micki would do great with a companion about his age or a little older to help him learn the ropes and play with.  We have also recently found that Micki is food agressive, so we would urge his being fed away from other dogs. He also rides well in the car and loves watching the traffic lights.

If you are interested in meeting Micki, please make sure you have completed an online adoption application.

Buddy

Buddy is a stunning, purebred, male English Cocker Spaniel with a natural tail who is estimated to be 12-16 months old. His coat is solid black, silky and very shiny! This little guy loves to snuggle, give kisses and play! He is as sweet as they come, very easy going, but energetic like any normal juvenile. Buddy is still growing into his long, lean body, so we expect he will be around 28-30 pounds when he fills out. He is working on his house-training and is catching on fast. Buddy is also learning to stay in a crate; right now he whines a bit, but then settles down.

Buddy will be great with a family with children and another playful dog to help him burn off his energy. He takes food gently from a human hand and has learned how to play gently with people. This adorable dog with an irresistable face was just neutered on Nov. 9, so he needs to go back to the vet just after Thanksgiving to get his rabies vaccination. He already has his DA2PP vaccination. We will microchip him for his new family, too. This beauty will have lots of applications for his adoption, so don’t wait to submit an online adoption application!

Max

Meet Max!  Max is a seven year old chocolate and tan male that came to us from a local shelter.  He was an owner surrender and is the sweetest guy you’ll ever meet!

Max is a bit larger than the typical Cocker Spaniel.  He has a coarser coat which was trimmed down while he was in the shelter.  The groomer stated that he was a joy to deal with and didn’t complain even when he went outside and got stickers in his foot and had to have them removed!  He is neutered,  house trained, microchipped and up to date on his vaccinations.  He has had obedience training and knows basic commands.  He can be timid at times and seems to be frightened of some moving objects.   He loves to go on walks, but can pull a bit and does lunge at other dogs while on walks.  He gets along well with other dogs and cats and we feel he would be fine around older children.  He doesn’t quite know what to think of babies.

Max bonds quickly with anyone that will show him affection.  He will make a wonderful addition to any home, but would do best in a home with a doggy door and someone to give him lots of attention.  If you are interested in meeting this love bug, please make sure you’ve filled out an online adoption application.

Brownie

Brownie has an application pending that will most likely turn into an adoption!

Hi – My name is Brownie. I had a really troubled life early on – I was rescued at four months old. My skin, ears and eye was so bad that I had to have immediate vet care. My eye was so bad that is had to be removed.

Now, after about six months, I am better than I have ever been. My foster parents went two weeks without even knowing I was without eye.

I am still a puppy with all the excitement and craziness that implies. I love to be around other dogs and have not shown any issues with kids. During adoption events, I haven’t had any issues with small children.  I haven’t met a cat yet!

I am a great dog with little issue with the missing eye. I need a strong family to keep me on the course I am on but will be s wonderful dog for someone.  I’m fully vetted, neutered, and microchipped and am waiting for you to take me home!

If you are interested in meeting Brownie, please make sure you’ve completed an online adoption application.

Puck

Puck has an adoption application pending!!

Hi there, my name is Puck. I’m so glad you want to learn more about me – hopefully you’ll like what you see! I came to Rocky Mountain Cocker Rescue from a shelter in Pueblo. My previous owner couldn’t keep me anymore because of issues with his landlord. I didn’t understand much of that – all I knew was I really liked my person and my house and then I wound up in a cage in a scary place. A shelter is no place for a 5 years young, handsome boy like me! Luckily, some nice people came and got me out and they’ve been taking really good care of me. I got a haircut, my teeth cleaned and I’ve even lost a little weight! I’m all ready to go home with my new forever family and love them so much they’ll wonder how they ever lived without me.

You are probably wondering if I would be a good fit in your home. My foster parents tell me I’m a pretty amazing and easy-going guy. I already love you and I haven’t even met you. I love your kids, I love your cats and I love your dogs – basically, I’m a lover! If you would like to let me lie in your lap all day and pet me, that would be fantastic. If you’re a little more active, that’s okay by me too! I really enjoy my walks and I do just fine on a leash. Playing outside with you in the yard is really fun too. Swimming is another favorite pastime of mine. I like to swim with ducks in the lake at the park. Don’t worry, I would never hurt them, I just think they’re pretty cool! I am always happy when I am with my people so I will fit into a loving family and their lifestyle with no problem! As you can see, I’m a pretty perfect little guy. I am playful, I am friendly, I am loving, I am Puck! Come meet me today!

Please make sure you’ve completed an online adoption application if you are interested in Puck.

Ramsey

Ramsey is a four year old male Cocker Spaniel that came to us from Arkansas. He has beautiful unique coloring – he’s red with black mixed in that almost makes him look like a sable, and the tips of his ears are also dark colored. He was a stray that was saved from a high-kill shelter and fostered locally until we could transport him to Denver.

Ramsey is gentle and loving and gets along well with other dogs, children and cats. His only fault is that he is an escape artist. Potential adopters will need to have a secure yard with a tall privacy fence. He should also not be left in the yard unsupervised until he can be trusted and should be crated or kept in a secure area when left alone. This is most likely a form of separation anxiety where he is on a mission to find you when you are not at home! He has been neutered, has all of his vaccinations, and is microchipped.

If you are interested in meeting Ramsey, please make sure you have completed an online adoption application.

Ansil

Ansil is a three year old male. He is white and tan. He came to us from Kansas where he was rescued from a shelter and spent three weeks in a foster home there. We don’t know much about his life before that.

He now lives in his foster home with two other Cockers, one large dog, and two cats. His human family includes a seven year old boy and a three year old girl. Ansil is very sweet and very smart. He is just waiting to bond with a forever friend. He loves to cuddle in laps and is very interested in everything that happens in the home and in the yard. With time he will be completely housebroken. He is neutered and up to date on all shots. RMCR will microchip him for you.

Marble

Marble is currently being considered for adoption by his foster family!

Marble is a two year old parti-colored male. He is an owner surrender and is not currently in the Denver metro area.   The family is having trouble financially and wants to find a new home for him.  There is also a personality issue between him and the family’s other older dog.

As you can see, Marble has a droopy eye.  The rescue will have it checked out by our vet.  We will also make sure he is up to date on his vaccinations and that he is micro-shipped.  He is house trained, but is being kept out of doors during the day and crated inside at night.  He is home trained, knows several commands and is good on the lead.

If you are interested in meeting Marble, please make sure you have completed an online adoption application.

Jory

Hi! My name is Jory, and I’m a one year old boy looking for love. Despite my rough start to life, I am still full of joy that I want to share.

I was just a pup when I was dumped at a high kill shelter in Nebraska. I didn’t find a home in time so I was down to my last days when a beautiful soul decided I was too amazing to leave this world without ever knowing what it’s like to be loved by a family. A vet clinic offered to board me while they looked for a rescue to take me. I’ve waited a long time but I am finally safe! I’m so thankful so many wonderful people worked so hard to save my life. I am now enjoying life in a super comfy house and I love it! I adore my foster parents and I have been the very best boy I can be for them. They have another foster dog and I really like having him around to show me the ropes. I haven’t had much experience with playing, but I’m starting to learn that it’s fun to romp with my foster brother and am starting to show a little interest in toys. I thought the cats were going to be fun to play with when I first moved in, but I learned very quickly that I am only supposed to look at them. I’m very smart, you see! I really like living here and I love my foster parents very much, but they told me I am just waiting here until my forever family finds me. I will be sad to leave them, but I am looking forward to meeting my family that will love me forever and ever.

My ideal home would be with a reliable, loving family. Because I’ve had a rough start, I can get worried if you leave me for too long. I am learning that a family loves me and will always come back for me, but I would not do well in a home where my people are gone for long periods of time. I am still quite young and would enjoy a family that gives me time to be active with them before settling down to hang out as a family at night. I do really well with other dogs that are nice to me, and I do fine with cats too! I’ve met some kids in my new neighborhood, and they seem like nice little humans to have around. I’m such a gentle soul that I would probably do well around any creature that is kind to me! I’m also quite the looker with my red, luxuriously soft coat. And of course, I’m neutered and up-to-date on all my shots! Also, when you’re ready to take me home, I’ll have a microchip that tells people I’m all yours. Hopefully you like what you see and will come to meet me soon. I’m ready to start the life a good boy like me should’ve had all along!

If you are interested in meeting Jory, please make sure you’ve completed an online adoption application.
