Marble is currently being considered for adoption by his foster family!
Marble is a two year old parti-colored male. He is an owner surrender and is not currently in the Denver metro area. The family is having trouble financially and wants to find a new home for him. There is also a personality issue between him and the family’s other older dog.
As you can see, Marble has a droopy eye. The rescue will have it checked out by our vet. We will also make sure he is up to date on his vaccinations and that he is micro-shipped. He is house trained, but is being kept out of doors during the day and crated inside at night. He is home trained, knows several commands and is good on the lead.
If you are interested in meeting Marble, please make sure you have completed an online adoption application.

Meet Charley! He’s around eight years old , while with black markings, and is looking for a new home because his owners are relocating and cannot take him along. Shhh! – don’t tell his owners, but Charley told us he likes Colorado anyway.
Charley is around 40 pounds, is house trained and crate trained. He has a lot of energy and sticks close to home. Over the years he has become afraid of thunder but is happy to wait out the storm in his crate. He’s great with kids, cats and other dogs.. He is well trained as he has had both obedience and home training. Although he has been taught to perform well on a lead, he hasn’t been walked in awhile, so his new owners would need to work with him to remind him of these skills. He is completely up to date on his vaccinations (rabies due in 2013).
If you are interested in meeting Charely, please make sure you have completed an online adoption form.

Joe is a sweet, affectionate, buff-and-white, male American Cocker Spaniel. We estimate his age to be approximately 3-4 years old.
Joe was surrendered to the shelter in Phoenix and is coming to RMCR. He is not excessively energetic; however, he loves romping in the yard with other dogs and tries to play cats. He plays well with children as young as 5-years-old. He’s a little shy at first and somewhat insecure until he gets to know someone new, but once he warms up he is just a lover who enjoys people’s attention. He loves to play with balls and squeaky toys and he is learning tug-of-war with the other dogs. As you can see by his pictures, he loves rawhide chewies, also!
Joe does have issues with men initially, but he can be sweet talked with gentle voices, petting and yummy treats. He warms up quickly and should not have any problems after an initial adjustment period.
He is house-trained and crate-trained and uses the crate voluntarily. At night he is loose in the house and does not have any accidents. This very gentle boy is learning his basic commands such as ‘sit’ and ‘come’, but only ‘come’ is solid at this point. He has not shown any resource guarding issues; his foster mom can take away his food or chew toy without incident. He is neutered and up-to-date on his shots, so he’s ready for his new forever home! If you are willing to work with him and socialize him to strangers, he will be a wonderful best friend for you!

Paris is a very friendly seven year old female carmel colored Cocker Spaniel. She is very sweet, and does get intimidated easily. She has no aggression whatsoever towards people or animals. She is spayed and her shot records are up to date and aren’t due until 2012. She had a disc herniation at one point but fully recovered. House trained is taken care of and she also knows the commands to sit and come. She barks some when she doesn’t know the stranger but that she means no harm. She likes the outdoors but mostly enjoys being loved.
If you want to enjoy the life with this Cocker Spaniel, please complete an online adoption application.

Molly is a three year old black and tan female Cocker Spaniel that came to us from Arkansas. A local rescue convinced the owner to surrender her because she was locked outside in a dog run full time. It turns out that she has belonged to the owner’s daughter and was an indoor dog, but when she was given to the owner, she was banished outdoors. She was free-fed and consequently, she’s put on a few additional pounds that will require diet and exercise to resolve.
Molly is a total sweetheart. She loves to be petted, especially if it’s a tummy rub. She would be perfect for any family as she gets along well with kids, cats and other dogs. She is up to date on her vaccinations and is spayed. RMCR will ensure that she is microchipped for you as well.
If you can look past her current size and know that you can help her get back to a healthy weight, and you are interested in meeting her, please make sure you’ve completed an online adoption application.

Clarence is a 5-6 year old Cocker Spaniel mix, most likely with a Springer Spaniel. He is an owner surrender.
Clarence was adopted from the Denver Dumb Friends League and has been with his current family for around five years. He was uncomfortable around men, but has been treated with Prozac and has been doing well. Although he has been around small children with no incident, he recently snapped at the owner’s nine-month-old child. Although he has never bitten anyone, they are concerned that he will bite the child and feel it best to find a new home for him. He knows how to shake, give a high-five, and jump through a hoop! He loves to follow his owners around, even the dog-sitters.
Clarence seems to be willing to please, but perhaps had some trauma in his earlier life. He would do best in a home with experienced owners with no children.
Clarence is up to date on his vaccines. In addition to his Reconcile (Prozac for canines), he also take an inexpensive medicine for hypothyroidism on a daily basis. He is neutered, crate trained, has had professional training and enjoys going on walks. He is house trained and can be trusted to be left alone indoors for extended periods of time.
If you are interested in meeting Clarence, please make sure you have completed an online adoption application.

Maggie is currently being considered for adoption by fer foster family!
Maggie is a three year old black and brown spayed female. She was surrendered to the animal shelter for being aggressive to other dogs, however she is in a foster home with three other Cocker Spaniels and they get along just fine. Therefore, we don’t know what may have caused any aggression, if in fact there was any. She does display protectiveness when it comes to her food, so a prospective owner may have to feed her separately from other dogs.
Her foster mom says that she is super sweet, cuddly, and gives lots of kisses. She has a lot of energy and loves to play. She sleeps in at night in her kennel with the door on it left open. She seems to like having her own little sleeping area. She is completely house trained and comes when called.
Maggie would do best in a home without really small children and she would do ok with other dogs close to her breed. She would make a great pet to caring people. She seems to really like going on car rides. She also does very well on a leash (no pulling) and likes to go on walks!
If you are interested in Maggie, please complete an online adoption application.

Hershey has adoption applications pending.
This beautiful two-year-old chocolate female is named, appropriately enough, Hershey!
Hershey is an owner surrender. Her current owner has a toddler and just doesn’t have the time for another youngster like Hershey. So, she’s looking for a home with other doggy playmates, or kids that will play with her gently. She is house trained and is current on her vaccinations until September 2011. She’s very smart and knows several commands. She knows she is not allowed on the sofa in her current home. She is crate trained, but is not totally fond of being crated. She can be trusted to be left alone in the home unsupervised. Hershey is not currently spayed, so RMCR will take care of that surgery prior to adoption. We will also ensure that she is microchipped.
Hershey would love for you to take her on walks or to the dog park. She loves to look for squirrels and rabbits and would really like to chase them! If you would like to give her a new home, please make sure you’ve completed an online adoption application.

Maggie has an application in progress.
Maggie is a two year old golden female Cocker Spaniel that is being surrendered by her owners because she does not get along with the Sheepdog and Pyrenees that live in the same house. The home is also full of teenagers and she is agitated by the activity.
Maggie would do best in a quieter environment without young children and possibly as an only dog, however she may do better with a smaller breed and preferably males. She is quite small at 15 pounds. She is spayed, house trained and crate trained. She has had professional training and is good on the lead.
Maggie is up to date on her vaccinations and will be microchipped prior to adoption. Like most Cocker Spaniels, she likes to chase squirrels and loves squeaky toys. She responds well to several commands.
If you are interested in meeting Maggie, please complete an online adoption application.

Meet Missy! We believe Missy is a Cocker/Lhasa Apso mix, but don’t know for certain. Missy is an owner surrender who estimated her age at 8, but based on her teeth and very playful demeanor, we think she is closer to 5. Since we can’t say for sure how old she is or what she is, we are setting Missy’s adoption fee at only $150.00. Despite her uncertain pedigree, Missy is a good little dog. She arrived in the Rescue an untrusting, scared, defensive creature who knew life only as a too-small crate in the basement. Today, Missy is a happy, playful, and trusting little girl who continues to make improvements every day. She LOVES toys, squeaking and chewing and chasing anything she is given. But she knows what is hers and doesn’t bother anything else in the house. She is house trained (no doggie door!) and is fine left loose in the house during the day. She sleeps on her dog bed at night. She loves to go for walks, and prances along nicely on a leash, her feathery tail held high. She adores being outside—rolling in the grass, catching bubbles in the pond fountain and laying in the sunshine. She gets along well with her foster Cocker brother. Missy takes a treat very nicely from your hand, but does guard her food when eating. She knows sit, and is starting to realize she won’t be hurt when told to come. She is no longer terrified of being held and is happy to be near her people. Missy had her ears and teeth cleaned under anesthesia, and has had her shots. We would like to adopt Missy to a home without small children, and to someone who will not crate her. Missy is becoming an even better dog every day with a bit of training and attention. We hope you can help Missy reach her full potential in her forever home!
If you are interested in Missy, please make sure you’ve completed an online adoption application.
