Meet Zoe! She is a ten year old spayed black and tan female Cocker Spaniel. Her family is moving and cannot take her with them. She secretly said that she prefers the weather in Colorado anyway!
She gets along well with other dogs, is house trained and leash trained. She is up to date on her vaccinations and RMCR will make sure she has a microchip. She’s a 100% indoor dog, but loves to go for walks and be outside with you. She gets along with children, but as with most dogs her age, we recommend that she not be placed in a home with toddlers. We’re not sure about cats.
If you are interested in meeting Zoe, please make sure you’ve completed an online adoption form.

Gidget with Andrew, Roseanna and Cocoa
Gidget came to RMCR after being abandoned by her owners and ending up in the Rawlins WY shelter where she spent two long months before a good volunteer there made it his duty to get her into a Rescue. We’re so glad! Gidget attended an adoption event and just happened to be there when Andrew and Roseanna were visiting Petco with their cocker mix Cocoa. Andrew and Roseanna had been looking for a companion for Cocoa, but he didn’t like any of the doggies they had met…until Gidget! And now Gidget has a new forever home with a sweet doggie friend and loving owners. What a wonderful new beginning!

Lilly is a three year old Cocker Spaniel mix. She looks as if she may have some Golden Retriever genes going on. She is slightly larger than your typical Cocker Spaniel and does have a full tail.
She was left behind, chained in the back yard, when her owners moved out of their house. Good Samaritan neighbors took her in and fed her and called RMCR to see if we could help find her a new home. They made sure she had a new groom before we moved her into foster care. She is a super sweet girl, however she’s a little timid. She doesn’t quite know what’s going on yet. She tends to shy away from attention until she gets to know you and she is especially timid around men. She does, however, warm up in short time!
She seems to be house trained, is up to date on her vaccinations, and RMCR will make sure she’s microchipped. She gets along well with other dogs, but we’re not sure about cats, but we feel that she would be fine. She does well with older kids, however toddlers may be too active for her.

Pedro is a beautiful six year old neutered chocolate male Cocker Spaniel. He’s fairly small, weighing only 22 pounds.
He is an owner surrender. The parents have three children and work full time and don’t have time to train Pedro. He has learned to jump a five foot fence and therefore has to be chained when in the yard. The family is worried that he will get hurt if he continues to escape the yard, so they are looking for a family that can give him more attention and provide a safer environment for him.
He is up to date on his vaccinations. He is also crate trained and house trained. He gets along well with other dogs and has even been around cats. We feel that he would do best in a home with older children or in an adults-only environment. RMCR will make sure he is microchipped as well.

Dear Friends at Rocky Mountain Cocker Rescue,
In late summer-early fall of 2011, we adopted Toby. He is a wonderful and perfect addition to our home! Toby, now “Mr. Dude”, has bonded with each one of us in different ways. He and I hang out and play or just snuggle. Dad and Toby play ball, go for walks and play, play, play! He and our daughter are best friends. Toby loves “his girl”! Thank you RMCR aiding us in finding the best dog!
P.S. A note from Toby: Life here is great! I have lots of energy and a fun family. I’m such a good boy! (Mom tells me that all the time.) I’m learning new tricks and making friends wherever I go. Thank you for finding my forever family!

Cooper is a beautiful golden colored male Cocker Spaniel. He’s only 14 months old and is looking for a new home. His current owner is surrendering him because she feels she’s too old to give him the attention he deserves at his age.
Cooper is neutered and will be up to date on his vaccinations and microchipped for you. He knows how to use a doggy door but still may need a little reinforcement on his house training. Even without the doggy door, he seems to know to do his business outside. He’s still young and will learn quickly. He loves squeaky toys, chews, and going for walks outside. He gets excited when people come to meet him and wants to be everyones friend. He has beautiful white teeth. He’s very confident and bonds quickly.

Pepper is an eight year old black and white female Cocker Spaniel that was found on the side of the road in Logan County. No one ever claimed her and the shelter felt she’d have a better chance of finding a good home if she were in rescue.
Pepper has a cherry eye that needed to be fixed, but she went into heat just about the time she arrived at her foster home. The vet felt it would be best to let her run her cycle and then perform surgery on her eye and to spay her at the same time. She is up to date on her vaccinations and will soon be ready for her new home. RMCR will microchip her as well.
Pepper seems to be house trained and gets along with her Cocker companion in her foster home. We’re not sure about cats! Her foster mom says that she has completely adjusted to life in her home and is very loving and obedient. She is very mild mannered, so she should be fine with children as well.

Hi! I just arrived from Utah and the name on the paperwork that came with me says my name is Popcorn. I’m not sure that’s right, but hey, I’ll let you call me anything if you’ll let me come live with you!
I was abandoned when my owner died, so the rescue doesn’t know a lot about my history and the paperwork doesn’t offer very much information. It says that I’m eight years old, but I think I’m a bit older. Don’t tell anyone, but I think I’m a bit overweight, too. I don’t move very fast, but I’m happy to follow you around so that I can stay right beside you!
I’m neutered and up to date on my vaccinations. I’m also microchipped. I’m going to get my teeth cleaned and I have a bit of an ear infection. I don’t hear so well either, but I’m a big love bug and wish that you would give me a nice new home and love me forever! I’m house trained and I do well on a leash. I can go up and down the stairs slowly and I’m trying to understand this thing called a doggy door. It still confuses me! I love a big fluffy dog bed and will sleep on it all night long. I’m not too keen on toys, but I love to be scratched and petted.
If you want to meet me, please fill out an online adoption application.

Matty comes to us from Kansas, where she was abandoned in an apartment when her owners moved. She arrived at the animal shelter in a terribly matted condition, scared and sad. No one came looking for her, and so after being groomed to get rid of her dirty, matted coat, she came to RMCR to await her new home. Matty is a super sweet little girl of about 25 pounds. Her coat is now coming in soft and white, with patches of tan. She has a little snub face with big brown eyes, reminiscent of a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.
Matty sleeps through the night on her dog bed, and loves to curl up on the couch to get love. Matty does tend to be a bit of a ‘hall monitor’—meaning she likes all the other doggies to be quiet and well behaved! When they aren’t she’ll run over and chastise them by barking and hopping about. Her little tail is wagging, but other dogs could see it as aggressive. So for that reason, she probably shouldn’t go to dog parks. She mostly gets along with her cocker foster brother, but would probably be happiest as an only dog.
Since Matty was abandoned, we don’t know her exact age, but we estimate between 8-9 years old. This does not mean she’s old!! Cockers live to be 14-16 years, so Matty has lots of life and pep left in her. Matty has been spayed, had her teeth cleaned, is up to date on her vaccinations and will be microchipped. She is house trained (no doggie door!) and walks well on a lead. She loves to go for walks and she likes stuffed squeaky toys. She likes all people, but prefers a quiet home; so small children may be too loud and energetic for her. Matty is a wonderful little girl who deserves more than being left behind in an apartment—she deserves a forever home! Can you be that home?

This is Toby. Toby is a four year old buff neutered male. He was surrendered by his owners due to health issues and is looking for a new home.
Toby was an only dog, however he does enjoy the company of other canine companions. He is neutered, microchipped and up to date on all of his vaccinations. He is crate trained and house trained. He enjoys playing with his toys!
His previous owners had small children and he was very gentle with them. He has not been around cats, so we don’t know how he would react to them, so perhaps a cat-free home is best. He rides well in the car. Toby would be a wonderful addition to any home.
If you are interested in meeting him, please make sure you’ve completed an online adoption application.
