Sunshine

**ADOPTED**

Does Sunshine on your shoulders make you happy? Well, then this little guy should make you ecstatic. This is Sunshine and he really is a little ray of Sunshine. He is about 7 ½ years old but if we didn’t know his birth-date you would think he was under 5. He has very unique eyes. One of them has blue and brown mixed together. When you look at his eyes it’s hard to believe how amazing they are. He is very curious about the cat in the house but he doesn’t chase it or terrorize it. Sunshine is a very sweet boy but his foster mom thinks he would do much better as an only dog. He likes to be on his own. As he has come out of his shell a little bit his foster mom has seen a cuddle side to him but if you are looking for a companion that is a bit more independent he is your guy. We don’t know how Sunshine will do with kids (yet) but his foster mom doesn’t see him being aggressive at all (even over food or toys). He is a little sneaky and likes to find tissue any place he can find it and rip it to shreds. He will also need work with potty training. He does go potty outside most of the time but doesn’t seem to know how to tell you if he really needs to go out when you aren’t offering. He also has been marking in his foster mom’s home but she think that it’s because there are 2 other males in the house and he’s just trying to establish his place. This may be something you will have to work with too.

Sunshine is current on vaccinations, neutered and micro-chipped. If you would like to meet Sunshine please fill out an online adoption application. Sunshine’s adoption fee is $250.

Mollie

This is Mollie and she has a sad start to her story… Mollie and her brother were abandoned when her family left their home in January.  Someone did come and “adopted” her brother. Mollie was “adopted” for a little while too but the people that took her brought her back and dumped her back into the empty house. This is where Mollie’s story starts to look up… the sweet next door neighbor found Mollie and tried to take care of this baby as best she could. She wasn’t able to take Mollie into her home as she has dogs of her own. She did her best to feed and look after Mollie. Not long after this RMCR got a call to see if we could help find Mollie the forever home she so deserves.

We don’t know exactly how old Mollie is but we guess she is around 7-8 years young. She is spunky and loves to chase her ball and play with her foster brothers and sister. She loves to cuddle with her foster mom and her foster mom enjoys that quite a bit.. she feels like velvet! She gives sweet little kisses and just loves to be loved. She is potty trained and crate trained. She seems to adapt to new situations very well. She is a true little bundle of joy. She does fine with the cat in the house.. doesn’t even seem to notice he is there. We don’t know how she will do with kids but her foster mom thinks if she does end up in a home with kids they need to be over the age of 10. Mollie needs someone that will pamper and love her to bits!

Mollie is spayed and micro-chipped. RMCR will ensure she is current on all her vaccinations. If you would like to meet Mollie please fill out an online adoption application. Mollie’s adoption fee is $250.

Coby

~~~~ There is an application for adoption pending for Coby~~~~
Hello there, my name is Coby.  I was rescued from a hoarder and I am looking for a forever home where I will be loved unconditionally, as I will love you.   I am neutered, microchipped, and up to date on all of my shots, and I am house trained.  I obey commands such as come, down, and sit.   I am about 2 ½  years old and I am a mix of Cocker Spaniel and perhaps another sporting  or working breed, as I am a bigger than a pure bread Cocker and I look different too.   I have the softest and most beautiful brown coat which just seems to float through the breeze as I run.  I have a blue and a brown eye – very different indeed!
Because I am a very active dog I need a home where I will be able to run in a yard and have a lot of activity.  Please do not put me in an apartment or a town home and hope that I will spend all of my outdoor time on a leash. Even though I am crate trained, when I need to be crated I have a large 3 x 3 ex pen so I have room to move around.  My foster mom says that my manners are great and that I am a gentleman.
I came here really scared but now I am much more confident in most circumstances.  I am very social and curious, but sometimes I still get nervous with new people.  I can make adjustments once I know I can trust.  I have been with young children in my foster home and I thought I would be ok with them.  But when a nice family wanted to adopt me I got nervous with some children’s activity and I bit a couple of times.   So maybe it’s not a good idea to put me with young children again.  I also got very scared at a doggie wash so please don’t take me to one of those for a bath.  When I meet new men it takes me a while to warm up to them so please be patient with me.   I haven’t been around cats.  I have been in a foster home with several other cockers and it’s a lot of fun.   I would love to cuddle on the couch or in bed with you and sit at your feet as you work at your desk.   I love to play and to be with people and with other dogs.  I would like to have a dog buddy to live with, in addition to loving and understanding humans.  I am obedient, listen carefully and learn quickly.   I pull on my leash but my foster mom uses a harness and that helps me remember not to pull so much.  If you keep working with me I will get better at leash training too.   Actually, I am a wonderful, active young dog who would love a life filled with action, companionship, and family.
If you would like to meet Coby, please fill out an online adoption application. Coby’s adoption fee is $250.
Wally
Hello there!  My name is Wally and I am 7 ½ years old.  I am looking for a home where I can be loved forever and be taken care of and allowed to be a big part of a family.  You see, I was rescued from a shelter after my owner took me there because he lost his home and didn’t have a place to live.  He got me as a gift when I was just a puppy and I lived with him all this time as an outdoor dog and I would be alone without human companionship over 12 hours a day.  I did like to chase the birds once in a while. I didn’t have any other dogs to play with and did not get much attention.   Just the lonely backyard, and in the winter it would get really cold out there.  When my owner took me to the shelter he said that I am friendly and that I was no trouble at all and never caused any problems but he just didn’t have a place for me anymore.  I stayed in there for about a week until Rocky Mountain Cocker Rescue came and took me out of there.  What a happy day that was!  But I was sick by then and they didn’t know what was wrong with me.  My ears hurt a lot and when I urinated, blood came out.  It was scary!  I really needed a bath and a haircut too because I looked like an old shaggy dog instead of the cute Cocker Spaniel that I am now.
I just had to tell you all about me so that you will know how much I have been through to get to this point and how much Rocky Mountain Cocker Rescue has done to help me so that I can be ready for a new life.  I know what love feels like now and I really want to hang on to it.  My foster mom says that I am such a good little dog.  She says I am gentle and kind and that I remind her of a butterfly.  I get along with all of the other dogs in my foster home and all of the people too.   I love to hang out with my foster family.  I love to cuddle and I give very soft doggie kisses.  I am obedient and crate trained.   You just won’t find a better dog than me.
I am not quite ready yet to leave my foster home because I need a little more time to heal from some surgery that was in the beginning of April.  My foster mom will tell you all about it if you are interested.  If you are interested in me, you could go ahead and submit an online adoption application.   When I am ready, my adoption fee will be $250.00
Thank you for thinking of me.
Wally
Symba
Hello there! I’m Symba.. No I’m not a lion or a cat at all, as you can see! I’m told it’s a silly name for a dog but I like it! It makes me feel tough! I am a sweet and playful guy! I love to cuddle and give sweet kisses. I found a ball and a few Kong toys at my new foster home and I run back and forth between all of them. I love to chase them and chew on them and then will bring them right back to you to throw for me again. My foster mom said she is very proud of me. I got into town after a long trip from Kansas City, MO with a bunch of other doggies. My foster mom took me to her home where I met my new foster brothers and sister and even a couple crazy cats. She was a little worried after such a stressful day that I would be a little scared and that I wouldn’t be too friendly but I proved her wrong! I love my foster siblings and the cats.. well.. whatever they are just cats. I’d rather give my foster mom or foster siblings my attention.  I am crate trained and have had to sleep in a crate in one of my past homes, I also slept on some blankets on the floor but this foster mom lets me sleep in bed with her and my foster siblings! I love it! I love car rides and will sit in the back seat very calmly. I know how to sit but I’m not too fond of staying yet but my foster mom said she was going to work with me on it.
Symba is about 5 years old. His foster mom believes he is a Cocker Spaniel/Corgi mix. He is a total sweet heart and a big goof ball! He is over weight and will need a family willing to help him lose some of it. He does seem to have energy and would love to go for walks and play at a park with a ball. We believe he would lose weight very easily. Right now he needs help jumping into the car and getting on the bed because of his weight. BUT… once you meet him you WILL fall in love with his BIG fun personality! If you are lucky he will even crawl in your lap and give you a kiss!
Symba is current on vaccinations, neutered and micro-chipped. He is potty trained and has not had any accidents!! He is great at letting you know when he needs to go out. Symba’s adoption fee is $250. If you are interested in meeting Symba, please fill out an online adoption application.
Jewels
This is beautiful and sweet Jewels. She is 6 years old and is an owner surrender.
Her owners feel that she would do better in a home with a quieter environment with owners that could offer her more attention.  Jewels would do well as an only dog in a home with older children.  She has, in the past, tweaked her back, possibly rough-housing with the other two dogs in her home, but with pain management medication and steriod shots, has overcome her injuries.  The family feels that more normal activity level would lessen the possibility that she reinjure herself.  Jewels is house trained and kennel trained.
If you are interested in meeting Jewels, please make sure you have an online adoption application on file.   Jewels is spayed and RMCR will make sure that she is current on all vaccinations and micro-chipped. Jewels’ adoption fee is $250.
Marcus
This is Marcus! Isn’t he just adorable?!?! Marcus is about 7 years old. He is a beautiful apricot cock-a-poo. We believe there may have been some abuse by a male in his past. Marcus would do best in a quiet home with a woman and with no kids. Marcus has a bad hip and some lower back pain and will probably need to be on medication to help with this the rest of his life. Loud noises do spook him. He has been around other dogs and does okay with them but he might do best as an only dog.  Marcus is a lover boy and needs someone that will love him unconditionally. Marcus is the beautiful apricot dog on the right side in the Santa photo.
RMCR will ensure Marcus is up to date on all vaccinations,  he is neutered and micro-chipped for a new owner. If you are interested in meeting Marcus please fill out an online adoption application. His adoption fee is $250.
Shadow
Hello there. I know we’ve only just met, but I wonder if I might ask just one thing of you? Will you please read all the way to the end? I have so much to say and I want you to know it all before you move on to the next dog. My name is Shadow and I am a perfectly handsome, pure bred, Cocker Spaniel. I know my basic commands, I am house-trained and I have a heart of pure gold ready to love you unconditionally. I am a mellow guy who enjoys spending time cuddled up with you on the couch or lounging around the house. When it’s play time, I really enjoy catching, chasing and being all around adorable with tennis balls. I also enjoy my walks, jogs and bounding around in the fun Colorado snow.
I sound like a dream come true, don’t I? Well, my foster parents say that’s just what I am. I know you’re wondering how a perfect gentleman like me ends up in rescue. You see, I had a family that I loved very much. I grew up with them since I was a tiny puppy and they taught me to be an outstanding canine citizen. But my family changed over the years. My kids grew up and left our home and my mom worked a lot of hours and I was alone a lot. So, she decided I should be somewhere where I could have a predictable life full of cuddles. After twelve years, that was a heart-breaking transition for me to make.
And that’s why I wanted you to read to the end. I’m a twelve year old boy competing for the hearts of families who want young pups. But my age is only a number and doesn’t reflect who I am at all. I love to run and play and have fun with my family. I have no health problems (I’ve never even had an ear infection!) and am as well-behaved as they come. The only thing that might give away my age is the fact that I can’t hear very well anymore, but you would never know if I didn’t tell you.
So, are you still reading? Do you have a place in your heart and your home for a perfect gentleman like me? If you are interested in meeting Shadow, please make sure you’ve completed an online adoption application.  Shadow’s adoption fee is $150.
Murray (Puppy)
Hi everyone!  My name is Murray and I am a brand new resident of Colorado.  My last home was in Oklahoma so it is much colder here and I don’t like the snow on my paws very much, although snow is really interesting to eat!  I am only 13 months old so I am still learning how the world works.  I love to chew on tennis balls, rawhides, and furry toys.  I shake them and show them who’s boss.  I play with my foster brother but I am jealous when he gets attention from my foster mom.  There are cats in my house too.  They hiss at me so I growl and bark at them.  I don’t think I want to live with them.
I hate baths but I love food!  I like to play hide-and-seek in the closet where my food is kept at meal time.  But my foster mom always finds me and won’t let me stay in there.  At night I sleep in the laundry room in my own bed.  I will stay in a kennel but I really don’t like them.  I love to sit with my foster mom on the couch and have her pet me or just sleep beside her.  I like to travel in cars.  I like to take walks too but my foster mom can’t keep up with me.  I think she needs some training.
Whenever I am scared or see something I can’t explain I bark.  My foster mom says I have an old man’s voice.  I playfully growl at things like my rawhide when it just lays there and won’t play with me or when the wind moves the bushes.  Once I investigate, I’m ok.  My foster mom says she loves that about me.
Murray is obviously still a puppy and is not full grown.  He is partially potty trained.  He does well overnight and during the day when we are at work but we’re still working on a schedule during the evenings so he will stop marking his territory.  Murray would do very well in a single pet home for maximum attention.  He is a very active youngster. Murray is currently being treated for ear, eye, and skin infections as well as being underweight.  He would make a great companion for someone or a family that has time to play with him and has the patience to finish his training.  Murray is a very loving dog.
Murray is neutered, current on vaccinations and micro-chipped. If you are interested in meeting Murray, please fill out an online adoption application. Murry’s adoption fee is $300.
