Little Guy

My name is Little Guy.  My real name is Kalalau, but Little Guy was so much easier for my foster mom!  I’m a lively little 12 year old.  I recently lost my family when they had to move and were unable to take me.  Since I am a senior I have a few health issues but they are all managed with low cost medication.  I have low thyroid and a mild heart condition, neither of which slow me down.   I also don’t hear very well, but my sense of smell is amazing!  I live at 8,000 ft and am as active as the younger dogs in my foster home.  I am good with dogs of all sizes and am not interested in cats.  I am a great little companion who would love to be someone’s lap warmer.  I ride well in the car and am good on a leash.  I also know sit and down and can use a doggie door.

Beatrice

Hi, I’m Beatrice, a shiny black Cockapoo with a thin white stripe down my chest and a little white under my chin. I’m supposed to be 9 years old; however, my foster parents think I’m more like 5 years old due to my playful nature and energy level. I prance and dance and wiggle my little tail a lot when I’m happy. I seek out petting and loving from my people. I’m a little shy around strangers, but once I get to know you I’ll follow you everywhere. I sleep in an open crate at night (no need to lock me in) and when my people are not around. They trust me not to make a mess when they are out. I’m a quiet girl who is housetrained and I get along well other other dogs. My previous owners had a noisy, busy household that was a little overwhelming for me. I would prefer a quieter home without young children.

I had my teeth cleaned recently and I’m microchipped and fully vaccinated.

Oliver

Oliver is an adult male Cocker Spaniel mix of unknown age that is looking for a new home.  His current owner is member of our military and is preparing to deploy.  He was adopted from the Adams County Animal Shelter only around a year ago.

Oliver is larger than most Cocker Spaniels, weighing in at a cool 50 pounds.  He has displayed aggressive behavior with the other dogs in the family home, so he would do best as an only pet.  He is protective of his food, so we will not adopt him to families with toddlers and we’re not sure about his behavior around cats.  He is neutered, house trained, and up to date on his rabies vaccination until June of this year.  RMCR will cover vaccinations for potential adopters and will ensure that he is microchipped.

He does well with adults, following his male owner around the house.  He can be trusted to be left alone indoors without threat of destruction.  He would really love to have a quiet home with someone that will play ball with him.  If you would be willing to give Oliver a chance at a forever home, we’d love to introduce you to him.

If you are interested in meeting Oliver, please make sure you’ve completed an online adoption application.

Kula and Marley

Kula and Marley are bonded Cockapoos that are looking for a new home.  The kids have grown up and have moved out and the owner is working a lot of hours, so these two are being left alone for longer than she would like.  Also, financial issues are making it hard to keep them.

Kula is a seven year old male black Cockapoo.  Marley is a six year old female black merle Cockapoo.  They would need to be adopted together as they have never been separated.  These two are both house trained.  Both dogs are crate trained but Kula hates to be crated and is usually allowed to roam free within the home with no incidents.  Both enjoy human companionship and enjoy going on walks.  They are both altered and are up to date on their vaccinations until 2013.  They know several trick, including how to shake.  Marley also knows how to give a high-five and understands “wait”.

If you are interested in meeting these two, please make sure you’ve completed an online adoption application.

Zoe

Meet Zoe!  She is a ten year old spayed black and tan female Cocker Spaniel.  Her family is moving and cannot take her with them.  She secretly said that she prefers the weather in Colorado anyway!

She gets along well with other dogs, is house trained and leash trained.  She is up to date on her vaccinations and RMCR will make sure she has a microchip.  She’s a 100% indoor dog, but loves to go for walks and be outside with you.  She gets along with children, but as with most dogs her age, we recommend that she not be placed in a home with toddlers.  We’re not sure about cats.

If you are interested in meeting Zoe, please make sure you’ve completed an online adoption form.

Gidget’s Happy Tale

Gidget with Andrew, Roseanna and Cocoa

Gidget came to RMCR after being abandoned by her owners and ending up in the Rawlins WY shelter where she spent two long months before a good volunteer there made it his duty to get her into a Rescue. We’re so glad! Gidget attended an adoption event and just happened to be there when Andrew and Roseanna were visiting Petco with their cocker mix Cocoa. Andrew and Roseanna had been looking for a companion for Cocoa, but he didn’t like any of the doggies they had met…until Gidget! And now Gidget has a new forever home with a sweet doggie friend and loving owners. What a wonderful new beginning!

Lilly

Lilly is a three year old Cocker Spaniel mix.  She looks as if she may have some Golden Retriever genes going on.  She is slightly larger than your typical Cocker Spaniel and does have a full tail.

She was left behind, chained in the back yard, when her owners moved out of their house.  Good Samaritan neighbors took her in and fed her and called RMCR to see if we could help find her a new home.  They made sure she had a new groom before we moved her into foster care.  She is a super sweet girl, however she’s a little timid. She doesn’t quite know what’s going on yet.  She tends to shy away from attention until she gets to know you and she is especially timid around men.  She does, however, warm up in short time!

She seems to be house trained, is up to date on her vaccinations, and RMCR will make sure she’s microchipped.  She gets along well with other dogs, but we’re not sure about cats, but we feel that she would be fine.  She does well with older kids, however toddlers may be too active for her.

If you are interested in meeting Lilly, please make sure you’ve completed an online adoption form.

Pedro

Pedro is a beautiful six year old neutered chocolate male Cocker Spaniel.  He’s fairly small, weighing only 22 pounds.

He is an owner surrender.  The parents have three children and work full time and don’t have time to train Pedro.  He has learned to jump a five foot fence and therefore has to be chained when in the yard.  The family is worried that he will get hurt if he continues to escape the yard, so they are looking for a family that can give him more attention and provide a safer environment for him.

He is up to date on his vaccinations.  He is also crate trained and house trained.  He gets along well with other dogs and has even been around cats.  We feel that he would do best in a home with older children or in an adults-only environment.  RMCR will make sure he is microchipped as well.

If you are interested in meeting Pedro, please make sure you’ve completed an online adoption application.

Bo

Bo is a lovely five year old neutered Cocker Spaniel.  He has had chronic ear infections, but is in good health otherwise.  He is house trained, good with dogs his size and smaller but is scared of dogs bigger than him.  Here’s what his foster mom added:

Bo – is PERFECT! Sweet, loyal, cuddle bug. He will insist on cudding with his forever mommy/daddy! His little nub of a tail is a non stop wag! He will let you know when he needs to go potty – He will stand by the door and whine a little bit. He is such a happy boy and took to his foster family (dogs and humans) in under a second. He gets along great with other dogs. He was exposed for a short time to a cat and pretty much ignored him. So I think he would be fine in a family with cats. He was great with my older nieces and even my 2 1/2 year old nephew didn’t scare him. He does growl a little bit when chewing on a toy or bone if another dog comes close. I haven’t seen him react more then growling though. We currently have him on Avo-derm brand food and suggest that he stay on that food for the rest of his life. Bo has dry skin but since he has been on the Avo-derm he seems to be doing MUCH better! She also believes that is also helping with his cronic ear infections! Oh, and you should see what he does for treats!  He turns in circles and rolls over!  It’s so cute!

Bo is current on his vaccinations and RMCR will ensure that he is microchipped for you.

Pepper

Pepper is an eight year old black and white female Cocker Spaniel that was found on the side of the road in Logan County.  No one ever claimed her and the shelter felt she’d have a better chance of finding a good home if she were in rescue.

Pepper has a cherry eye that needed to be fixed, but she went into heat just about the time she arrived at her foster home.  The vet felt it would be best to let her run her cycle and then perform surgery on her eye and to spay her at the same time.  She is up to date on her vaccinations and will soon be ready for her new home.  RMCR will microchip her as well.

Pepper seems to be house trained and gets along with her Cocker companion in her foster home.  We’re not sure about cats!  Her foster mom says that she has completely adjusted to life in her home and is very loving and obedient.  She is very mild mannered, so she should be fine with children as well.

If you are interested in meeting Pepper, please make sure you’ve completed an online adoption application.
