Sami’s Happy Tale

Gabe with Maggie, Annie with Sami

Gabe and Annie thought it was time to get a playmate for Maggie, so they were excited when Sami popped up on our website. Sami is just a little squirt of a Cockapoo, but she makes up for lack of size with her big personality. Sami was all over Gabe, Annie and Maggie when she met them and just wiggled her way into their hearts immediately. Sami has a wonderful new home with grandparents living nearby and a daily dog walker to help her keep her girlish figure in fine shape. No girl could ask for more! Thank you, Gabe and Annie, for providing a perfect forever home for this sweet girl.

Sami

Sami has adoption applications pending.

Sami is a very lively and affectionate nine-month-old Cockapoo.  She weighs about ten pounds.  She gets along great with the other dogs and shows no resource guarding issues at all.  She is mostly house-trained, though her foster mom crates her when she’s not home because she’s an inquisitive little girl who gets into everything!  She has some separation anxiety and barks when her foster mom leaves her, but she seems to quiet down very quickly.  We think the anxiety will go away pretty quickly–she’s gotten much better in the first two days of foster care.

She does well in her crate and the car, and so far she knows sit and dance (for a cookie), and she chases balls but hasn’t figured out to bring them back yet.  Sami is an adorable little bundle of love and energy!  She has all her shots and has been spayed.  Some lucky owner is sure to adopt her very soon.

If you are interested in meeting Sami, please fill out one of our online application forms.

Mr Big and Prince

Mr. Big and Prince are two five-month old male Cockapoos that came to us when their owner was forced to surrender them or be evicted from her home.  These cuties are from the same litter and have never been apart, so we would like to see them adopted together.  Mr. Big got his name because he is slightly larger than Prince.

These little guys are up to date on the vaccinations that they can have at their age and have not yet been neutered, although hopefully we can take care of that before they are adopted.  They are not fully house trained, but are learning.  They also do well with kids, cats and other dogs, although young kids will need to be taught to be gentle with them.

Their former owner described them as gentle, playful, curious, very active, and friendly to visitors.  They like playing with toys, especially ones that squeek.  These little guys are still puppies and are still in a chewing stage, so their new owners will need to monitor them and take away anything that they are chewing that they are not supposed to.

If you are interested in meeting these two handsome lads, please fill out one of our online adoption forms.

Brady

Brady is a five year old, neutered buff Cockapoo with many redeeming qualities that is being surrendered by his owner, who has had him his entire life, due to anxiety provoked aggression.  Brady is aggressive to other male dogs when they invade his space and to those who approach his food.  He also displays fear towards men.  The owners have young children and are fearful that they will be bitten.  Therefore, we will not place Brady in a home with young children although, to date, he has not shown aggression towards them or to the one year old Shitzu-poo in the home.  We will not place Brady in a home with cats or other small animals.  Brady has many redeemng qualities, but he has never been properly trained and it is never too late to do that!

Brady has been crate trained; however, he is not currently crated and is allowed free roam of the house.  He currently spends 8 to 10 hours unsupervised daily.  He is house trained and knows basic commands such as sit, stay, lie down and come.  He is current on his vaccinations.  At 40 pounds, he may be a little overweight, but proper feeding and exercise will help with this issue and may benefit his aggressive tendencies as well.

Brady is looking for an attentive, experienced owner with limited stressors who can help him change these behaviors.  He needs a true leader of the pack who will be consistent in his training using positive reinforcement. Brady was allowed to display and develop these behaviors from the time he was a small puppy, so someone who can help him correct his behavior will have a wonderful, lifelong companion. He needs a lot of daily exercise to help him not only lose weight, but also calm his mind so he can be more receptive to learning proper behavior. Since he displays tolerance with female dogs, he could flourish in the correct environment.  Brady deserves an opportunity to learn new behaviors, so if you are a patient, loving person that is willing to give him this chance, please fill out an adoption application on our website at http://rockymountaincockerrescue.org/adoption-info/.

Quincy – Adopted

Quincy is a 3 month old chocolate Cockapoo puppy who could not be more irresistible. This spunky little boy is only about 7 pounds right now, but he loves to play with dogs of all sizes. His fabulous foster mom has him learning commands and house training between his play periods with small children and other puppies. Quincy is up to date on his puppy vaccinations, but he is too young to be neutered at this point.
