Bailey

Hurry!  This the sweetest, funniest, cuddliest dog!!!!   If you want the good humor and love of a puppy that is housebroken and friendly with other pets and people, Bailey is your dog.  He is Peter Pan at his best.  He plays with balls and stuffed toys with happy energy and sleeps as if he turned off a switch.   His heart is in anything he does.  With long agile legs, he often walks across the floor on his back feet, head held high with the grace of Fred Astaire.  His tail is long and very fancy.  Like a boa, It swings and curls up and wags furiously.  He is definitely one of a kind and you’ll wish that wasn’t so because so many people will want one just like him as you introduce him to your friends.  He is Just barely house broken so you will have to follow through and if you want, He happily sleeps in a crate, except you will want to be near him constantly!  Hard not to spoil this one!   We recommend a home without toddlers as Bailey tends to jump up for affection and may knock them down.  He’s great with kids eight and older.

Bailey is up to date on his vaccinations and is microchipped.  If you are interested in meeting Bailey, please complete an online adoption application.

Penny

Penny is a four year old female spayed Cockapoo. She is looking for a home with a single woman who lives in a single family dwelling.  Penny is a barker that is frightened of men, so she is looking for an experienced owner that will help her change this behavior.  She’s mostly house trained and is good with children and cats.  She enjoys chew bones and going on walks.  She is not crate trained.

Penny will be up to date on her vaccinations prior to adoption and will be micro-chipped.

Kaylea

Please note:  Kaylea has been adopted.  She is no longer available for adoption.

Kaylea is spayed female Cockapoo that is almost 2-1/2 years old. Her mom is having to relocate and cannot take her along. Here is what her mom has to say about her:

Kaylea is an indoor-outdoor dog, with freedom to be wherever she wants. She has a fenced (4 foot) back yard and has never jumped the fence. She loves to chase squirrels and would climb the apple tree if she could. She loves to play fetch with her sqeeky toys and can always be relied on to return the toy, but she likes to play a little keep-away, as you can see in the picture. She will “drop” her toys on command. She will also “sit”, “stay”, “lay down” (she thinks that means rolling onto her back for a belly rub). She will “come” unless she is tracking something with her nose to the ground, so I never let her run loose. I put her on a long lead out front and she’s very content. She loves long walks on the leash, and I use a harness for the occasional pulling ahead – she can’t wait to see what’s around the next turn. She lets joggers, hikers and bikers pass without any problems. She usually wants to sniff out any dogs. She does the shy “knee hug” sometimes when people want to pet her, but once they have, she’ll flop onto her back for tummy rubs. She has never, ever snapped at anyone. She has had brief tussles with other dogs, but it’s all show, and I think it’s just them sorting things out. She used to be best friends with a big lab-rotty mix, and they’d play and run together. She would try to pull toys out of Maggie’s mouth. She has lived with cats without any problem.

She is completely house-broken. Indoors, Kaylea is a snuggler. She will curl up next to me or on my legs when I’m relaxing. She sleeps at the foot (only) of my bed on her little blanket. She has a large wire kennel and will go into it when I say the “kennel” command, but I stopped having her stay in it while I’m at work once I figured out she’s not a chewer or destructive. I keep the kennel door open and she often naps in it. I only use positive reinforcement for training. She loves her biscuit rewards. She is up to date on her shots and has never had any health problems.

Boots

Boots is a young Cocker mix – possiblya Cockapoo.  He’s black with white markings.

His foster mom says he cuts a rakish figure with his spats and crooked grin.  After the excitement wore down when he first got to her home, the other dogs decided to take a nap on the sofa.  Boots sat in the middle of the room and looked at each of them, walked over to each one and looked them in the face before giving a play bow and tried to get them excited.  When no one stirred, he bounced out of the room through the kitchen to the back yard then out the pet door to find maybe some opportunities there.   He is a determined lap sitter but he’ll squeeze between the back of the chair and your back if you already have an occupied lap.  He is learning “Come” and potties outdoors but he needs help with “Stay’.  He is sure that that is for dogs that are less imaginative than him.

Boots is around 25 pounds and has a curly tail and infectious humor. He loves everybody.  H’e's neutered, up to date on vaccinations and micro-chipped.  He settles into a crate after a few minutes, but prefers to be free!

Benji’s Happy Tale

Allen and Elaine with Benji

When we first saw little Benji as his previous owner relinquished him due to her allergies we knew that he would not be in foster care for long. Cockapoos in general are very popular dogs, let alone a 14 month old cutie like this one. Allen and Elaine took no time at all in deciding that Benji belonged with them. Likewise, Benji made himself right at home by wandering into their bathroom and grabbing the toilet paper off the roll. Manners aside, he won their hearts immediately and now has a wonderful country home and parents who are home much of the time.

Bailey

Bailey is a small, 5.5 year old, neutered male Cockapoo who was surrendered by his owner due to her health challenges. This cutie pie is a little intimidated by new dogs, especially bigger dogs, but once he gets to know the dog he is fine and would love to have a buddy. Bailey would also love to have school age children to play with in his new home.

Bailey is house trained, and would probably do alright in a crate.  He may have a little separation anxiety since his owner reported that he sometimes marked the baseboards (nothing else, just the baseboards) in some rooms when he was left alone. This behavior can be eliminated through training.   He would love squeaky toys, balls and chew toys.   No little Cockapoo’s life would be complete without lots of toys to carry around and call his own.

Bailey would love a home with a fenced yard and doggie door so he can come and go as he pleases. A privacy fence would be best so he isn’t tempted to bark at the passers-by. He would be a very happy dog if he could have another playful dog and/or children aged 7 years and older to play with every day.

Bailey is up to date on all his vaccinations and ready for his new forever home!  Just fill out this online application form.

Sophie

Sophie has an adoption application pending!!

Sophie is a beautiful sweet white female Cockapoo.  Most dogs think they’re lap dogs: Sophie is pretty sure she’s either a parrot or a headrest!  Her favorite spot is on top of the back of the sofa where she can snuggle against your head and give you the occasional little kiss.  Sophie is fully house trained and a very loving little girl.  She gets along with the other dogs, does great in a car, and walks well on a leash.  She comes when called and knows: sit, off, lie down, shake hands, and cookie.  Sophie is two and one-half years old, spayed, and has all her shots.  This little lover will find a forever home very quickly.

Sophie needs a home with older children.  She mistakes toddlers as competition and exhibits resource guarding around them.  She growls when they come too close to her toys and food.   She was very tolerant with older children at a recent adoption event.  We also do not know how she reacts to cats, so a cat-free home is recommended.

If you are interested in meeting Sophie, please complete an online adoption application.

Cocoa’s Happy Tale

Cocoa with Jody and Londa

Jody and Londa were so happy that they came early to one of our adoption events. They had submitted their adoption application and been approved in advance of their stop at the Highlands Ranch Petco on February 6. We told them they should arrive early in the day because we were expecting that a few of dogs would be adopted rather quickly. Cocoa, an owner surrender from the previous evening, was very popular with everyone that morning. Cockapoos in general tend to be adopted very quickly, but Cocoa was extra cute and friendly, so she drew a crowd. Luckily for Jody and Londa, they were already approved to take home the dog of their dreams, so Cocoa left for her new forever home that day! Now Cocoa has a doggie door and large, fenced backyard to play in when she’s not licking the cat, snuggling with Jody and Londa or burying her rawhides. By the way, Cocoa came with a complete wardrobe to her new home, as well, so she is ready for walks at all times. Talk about a lucky dog!

Mr Big and Prince Have a New Home

Jim and Nancy with Mr Big and Prince

Mr. Big and Prince, our two baby Cockapoos, have a huge new forever home to call their own! Jim and Nancy had recently lost their poodle, Skippy, who was such an integral part of their family for years. Jim told Nancy, that, when she was ready, they could get another dog to fill the void left when they could no longer hear the pitter patter of little paws on the wood flooring. Today, while Jim was at a church retreat, Nancy called to tell him the puppies would be there when he got home. “Puppies?”, Jim asked, “Whose puppies?” These two little Cockapoos wiggled their way into Jim and Nancy’s arms where they snuggled and snoozed…they were home. These precious boys will have a big brother (Drew) to meet this evening and 3 more of Jim and Nancy’s children when they come home for Thanksgiving. The lucky puppies also get grandchildren to play with on occasion, so their little tails will be wiggling for many years to come.
