Rocky Mountain Cocker Rescue

Marcus

This is Marcus! Isn’t he just adorable?!?! Marcus is about 7 years old. He is a beautiful apricot cock-a-poo. We believe there may have been some abuse by a male in his past. Marcus would do best in a quiet home with a woman and with no kids. Marcus has a bad hip and some lower back pain and will probably need to be on medication to help with this the rest of his life. Loud noises do spook him. He has been around other dogs and does okay with them but he might do best as an only dog.  Marcus is a lover boy and needs someone that will love him unconditionally. Marcus is the beautiful apricot dog on the right side in the Santa photo.

RMCR will ensure Marcus is up to date on all vaccinations,  he is neutered and micro-chipped for a new owner. If you are interested in meeting Marcus please fill out an online adoption application. His adoption fee is $250.

Echo

ECHO HAS BEEN ADOPTED AND IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION!!

Echo is a one year old black and grey male Cockapoo.  He was surrendered to a shelter in Arkansas.  The owner bought him for her daughter who went off to college and left him behind.  The owner couldn’t care for him, so he ended up coming to Colorado!  He came to the shelter in fairly bad shape and had to be shaved except for his face.  He is also fairly thin and needs to put on a couple of pounds.

Echo is up to date on all of his vaccinations and has been neutered.  He is crate trained, but doesn’t particularly care for being crated.  He is also house trained and is learning a couple of simple commands at his foster’s home.  He’s fairly small, weighing only around 20 pounds.  He seems to get along well with other dogs, but we’re unsure of cats.  He would probably do best in a home without toddlers.  Due to the many recent changes in his short life, he is still trying to find a bit of stability and the activity level of toddlers would probably add to his anxiety.

If you are interested in meeting Echo, please make sure you have an online adoption application on file.  His adoption fee is $300.

Lucy

Lucy has been adopted and is no longer available for adoption.

Meet Lucy! We were told that Lucy is very guarded with food, bed, toys, spaces, etc., and that is why she was released to rescue. So far there has been no agressive guarding of any kind.  She’s nearly five years old and quite small, weighing only around 15 pounds!

She figured out the electronic dog door at her foster home very quickly. She is used to being crated at night and is hesitant about coming out in the morning. She is a slight bit guarded about having someone reach in to get her but no agression so far. So far, she has done well with the other dogs in her foster home and she has been in a room with a cat and didn’t appear interested. Because of her alleged history (the shelter felt she might be a bite risk), we recommend a home without toddlers.

She loves to be brushed and will play with the brush and your hand when you try brushing her, she will mouth your hand gently. She absolutely loves playing with squeaky stuffed toys and balls.

She loves to be right beside you on the couch or bed. She has a quiet hoarse bark and very happy tail. She is very quick to respond when given a sit or down comand. She has been somewhat unsure of the recent changes in her life, so it has been a little difficult to get her to listen to any other commands.

Lucy is spayed and up to date on vaccinations. RMCR will ensure that she is microchipped for a new owner.

If you are interested in meeting Lucy, please make sure you’ve completed an online adoption application.

Blanche

BLANCHE HAS BEEN ADOPTED AND IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION!!

Blanche is a five year old Cockapoo that came to us from a Front Range shelter.  She was dirty and shaggy, but they gave her a bath and look at the gem they uncovered!  Here is what her foster mom says about her:

So, this is one of the sweetest dogs I have ever met. She did not come with a name so my son-in law started calling her Blanche (Blanche DuBois-Streetcar-”I have always relied on the kindness of strangers”). It works so that is what we are using for now. After all she has been thru and the extensive relocation yesterday, she settled in perfectly last night.

She is definitely food oriented but sat on 2 occasions with a 40-lb cattle dog and a 55-lb Sheppard mix and waited her turn while I hand fed them treats one at a time. She could care less about the cats and when I picked up her leash this morning she ran to the door knowing it meant a walk. She readily hops into the car for a ride and when we were walking she alerted to a rabbit but did not try to bolt. In fact I took her out in our fenced in back yard on a leash the first time but it was totally unnecessary as she followed the other dogs right back inside. She is curious about everything, and has not showed fear, aggression or anxiety about anything. She slept on the bed last night cuddling with me but appropriately respecting Molly’s spot on the bed. She has very definitely been socialized with both people and animals.

Blanche would be a wonderful addition to any family, but would love to be in a family where she could be the center of attention.  She may need to be spayed – she has an appointment with the vet to determine.  She is up to date on vaccinations and will be microchipped for a new owner.

If you are interested in Blanche, please make sure you’ve completed an online adoption application.

Beatrice

BEATRICE HAS BEEN ADOPTED AND IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION!!

Hi, I’m Beatrice, a shiny black Cockapoo with a thin white stripe down my chest and a little white under my chin. I’m supposed to be 9 years old; however, my foster parents think I’m more like 5 years old due to my playful nature and energy level. I prance and dance and wiggle my little tail a lot when I’m happy. I seek out petting and loving from my people. I’m a little shy around strangers, but once I get to know you I’ll follow you everywhere. I sleep in an open crate at night (no need to lock me in) and when my people are not around. They trust me not to make a mess when they are out. I’m a quiet girl who is housetrained and I get along well other other dogs. My previous owners had a noisy, busy household that was a little overwhelming for me. I would prefer a quieter home without young children.

I had my teeth cleaned recently and I’m microchipped and fully vaccinated.

Aspen

Aspen has a pending adoption application!  You can still apply with the understanding that she may not be available.

This little cutie’s name is Aspen.  She’s a Cockapoo and is around four and a half years old and weighs around 20 pounds.  She is an owner surrender due to the fact that there have been changes in family dynamics and she’s not getting the attention she deserves.

Her owner thinks she would be best with a couple or single person who can devote their undivided love and time to her.  She is a sweet gentle dog, in excellent health, is house trained, crate trained, has lots of energy, loves walks, and is good with other dogs and children.  She is very social, wags her tail constantly, does well at the kennel and loves to ride in car.  She is spayed, and up to date on her vaccinations until March of 2012.  She is quite athletic and loves to run in the back yard.

If you are interested in meeting Aspen, please make sure you’ve completed an online adoption application.

Bear

Bear has been adopted.  He is no longer available for adoption.

Bear is a three and one-half year old male Cockapoo.  He’s looking for a new home with a more quiet environment.  He would do best in a home without children, or at least with children over the age of twelve.

Bear likes to help “parent” the children when they are misbehaving and tries to nip at them.  The owners are concerned that he might eventually bite one of them.  Most of the time, he is very loving and wants to cuddle with them, but it seems as if he gets a little over excited when they they do!  Bear is an indoor dog who is house trained, crate trained but loves to go on walks and to go camping with the family.  He goes to the dog park and gets along well with the other dogs there.  He’s lived with a cat and it worked out well!  Bear is neutered and up to date on his vaccinations.

If you are interested in meeting Bear, please make sure you’ve completed an online adoption application.

Ginger

Ginger is a sweet, lovey-dovey little 10 year old Cockapoo who loves sitting by your side or snoozing next to you in bed.  She loves to investigate under things and she is cuddly soft and doesn’t seem to shed any.

Ginger was an owner surrender to a local shelter due to traveling issues. Her previous owner loved her but was unable to continue caring for Ginger. She is a very sweet, gentle girl, she is house trained, somewhat crate trained but doesn’t like it.

She does well on a leash when it is accompanied by a harness.  Ginger is a bit over weight, but her foster Mom is working on that with weight management food and short walks. She appears to have no other health or vision issues.  She is a soft puffy white with buff markings around her tummy. She would be the perfect addition to a laid back family. Ginger has spent a few night sleeping with an 11 yr old so she is fine with older children, younger children are we are unsure of as yet.  She does very well with other dogs, unless they go after her food, then she gets sassy. She has a sensitive tummy so she should not be fed-on-demand.  Ginger is definitely an indoor dog. She is micro-chipped and current on all  immunizations.

Think about this little lady as a forever addition to your family.  If you are interested in Ginger, please fill out an online adoption application.

Tonic’s Happy Tale

Today truly was a lucky day for a little boy named Tonic.  Dumped at a shelter with his brother and sister at barely eight weeks of age, his future could have been very grim.  Instead, he came to Denver.  His sister caught the eye of Becca, but it was Tonic who would go home with them in the end.  Wrapped in loving arms, their vehicle filled with everything he would need to grow up happy and loved, including the perfect little brown collar and lead, they took off to start their new lives together.  Before leaving, however, they allowed us to capture the moment that will remain in our hearts for a long time to come.  Have a good life, Tonic!  And blessings be upon John and Becca!  Because of you, Tonic is one lucky boy!
