Rocky Mountain Cocker Rescue

Sammy

Sammy is a courtesy cross-post for another rescue group.  If you are interested in Sammy, please use the contact information below.

·         Name:  Sammy
·         Age:  1 year
·         Status:  Neutered Male, all vaccines current, HW Negative, current on preventatives:  Heartgard and Frontline Plus
·         Housetraining going very well right now

Sammy is very sweet and social.  Quiet temperament and loves to snuggle.  Always has a serious little face, and a real snuggle buddy in the recliner to watch TV.  He was tied up to a tree in front of a family home having a garage sale with a sign that said “free”.  He was all matted up and full of fleas.  Very sad.  He is on his way to learning happiness in his foster home right now, and loves to go for walks.

Adoption Fee:  Out-of-state adoptions may require an additional fee for health certificate.

Lucy P

Lucy was presented to us as a Cockapoo, but we honestly don’t see much Poodle in the mix.  Her muzzle appears a little more pointed than that of a traditional Cocker Spaniel which may indicate some mix breeding.  She’s a wonderful little buff-colored girl who is very loving and fairly laid-back for her approximate three years of age.  Lucy is an owner surrender that came in with her pal, Lucky, after the sudden and unexpected death of her owner.  The wife works long shifts and cannot give them the attention they received from the husband who worked out of the house.

Lucy is up to date on her vaccinations and is micro chipped.  She seems to do well around children and other dogs.  We’re not sure about cats.  If you are interested in meeting Lucy, please complete an online adoption application.

Winston

Winston is a Cockapoo that came from a shelter in Kansas and was adopted to a family who very sadly must give him up due to allergies.

We have been told by the vet he is around 3 or 4 years of age. He is house trained, but does rely on a doggie door if left home alone. Winston absolutely loves people. He will follow you wherever you go. He does not care much for a kennel because he does not like to be away from people. He will find his own little spot at the end of your bed each night and and give you that feeling of security. He knows the commands sit, come, down, and occassionally stay.
You would think there was a little retreiver in him because he loves chasing a ball!  He is great with children. Older children who could give him tons of attention would be best.  An ideal home for him would be someone who loves to have a dog in their lap all the time and is willing to walk him often or play ball. He has a lot of energy.  His biggest fault is his barking. He is very protective of those he loves. He does wear a citronella spray collar which helps control the barking. He knows when that is on he can’t bark but has a cute little grumble!

Winston is up to date on his vaccinations and is micro-chipped.  If you are interested in meeting him, please complete an online adoption application.

Cassie

Cassie is a little hard to describe.  It is hard to believe a dog can be house trained (to a limit), leash trained, create trained and THEN be this sweet and affectionate.   She really needs a home with a yard so that she can spend time outside until she relieves herself.  She doesn’t understand the concept of going for a walk for that specific reason.  She is good with children and other animals.  She has been bounced around a lot and needs steady affection and stability to make life perfect.  No chance she won’t win your heart instantly.   Cassie is between 2-3 years old, weighs around 25 pounds, is spayed, micro-chipped and is up to date on her vaccinations.

Cassie came to us from Missouri where she was a mill mama, so she’s still a little timid and is trying hard to learn the ropes.  If you can find room in your heart to give this little girl the loving home she deserves, please complete an online adoption application.

Dread Pirate Roberts

Dread Pirate Roberts – DPR for short – is coming to us from the Glenwood Springs animal shelter.  He’s about a year old and was tormented by neighborhood children at his former home.  Consequently, he’s terrified of kids, so he’s looking for a quiet home with adults.  He’s one year old, up to date on his vaccinations and microchipped.  He’s not quite sure how to play.  He can be timid and unsure of new things and people but warms up quickly and is very wiggly and happy.
He loves affection and one on one time, shows no food or resource guarding and walks well on leash and knows sit (he just isn’t very consistent about it!).

If you are interested in meeting DPR, please fill out an online adoption application.  As soon as he gets to Denver, we’ll make arrangements for you to meet him.

A Happy Tale About Max

Linda and Maddox

Linda is another one of RMCR’s valuable volunteers. She started volunteering because she loves Cocker Spaniels, but didn’t have either the room or the time for a dog of her own – until she met Max. When we were desperate for fosters, Linda agreed to take Max until space became available, but instead fell head over heals for him. Now called Maddox, they make a great team and RMCR gets to share yet another short success story about a rescued dog and a proud foster failure.

Woody

Woody is one of our senior rescues. We don’t know his actual age, but we’re estimating him to be in the neighborhood of around 10 years old.

Woody came to us with several issues including a luxating cataract, dental disease, facial paralysis, dermatitis, chronic ear infections and several lumps that we thought were possible cancer masses. He’s had his ears and teeth cleaned and the lumps removed and fortunately, they were not cancerous. However, being an older gentleman, he has a hard time hearing and seeing. We’re hoping that a wheat-free diet will help maintain his ear health and also help with his skin condition. His facial paralysis is permanent and most likely was caused by ear infections that were not properly treated.  He is up to date on his vaccinations, neutered and house trained.  He gets along with kids, other dogs, and we assume cats.

With that being said, he’s still a loving fellow that hopes someone will want to give him a home where he can live the rest of his live in comfortable security. He gets along with his foster family’s other dog and follows him around. He is even sleeping in the teenage daughter’s bed. Woody’s favorite things to do are to go on a walk, ride in the car, chew on a bone, and sleep.

Since Cocker Spaniels have been known to live up to 17 years, Woody still has several years to go. If you are that special person that would like to give him a home for his golden years, please let us know. We’d love to introduce you to him.

You can fill out one of our online adoption applications if you are interested in Woody.

Mr. “Beaker” is a sweet blonde Cocker Spaniel boy (neutered), approximately 5-6 months of age. Beaker’s vaccinations are current and he is on all preventatives at this time. Beautiful Beaker was found stray, and very scared. He is settling in and feeling more secure and happy now. Beaker wants nothing more to be right besided you and be petted and scratched behind his ears. He is a sensitive soul, and doing a very good job of learning house manners. Each week he makes great improvements. Beaker does understand crate training as well, and he is a joy to be around. *********************************************************************

This pet is: up to date with routine shots, already house trained, altered

Notes:

Pet ID #: 04-10-052 *********************************************************************

My name is “Socks”. I am a confident and happy 4 year old red and white Cocker Spaniel boy. I am neutered and all my vaccines are current, and tested heartworm negative too! I am here at the Rockin’ Paw with my family (Goldie, Thumper, Lady, and Joey). My dog dad had to give us up when he lost his job and his home. It must have been terrible for him to decide which one of us he could keep. We lived in his car with him for awhile hoping that there would be some way to keep our family together, but it just was too hard and he had to sign us in at the shelter. I am safe now, but I really miss having a person of my own. I love to play and run in the yard chasing tennis balls. I am housetrained and mind very well. My foster mom says I would make a great walking buddy for some active family. Call and visit about me today – I cannot wait to come home with you!

Kaylea

Please note:  Kaylea has been adopted.  She is no longer available for adoption.

Kaylea is spayed female Cockapoo that is almost 2-1/2 years old. Her mom is having to relocate and cannot take her along. Here is what her mom has to say about her:

Kaylea is an indoor-outdoor dog, with freedom to be wherever she wants. She has a fenced (4 foot) back yard and has never jumped the fence. She loves to chase squirrels and would climb the apple tree if she could. She loves to play fetch with her sqeeky toys and can always be relied on to return the toy, but she likes to play a little keep-away, as you can see in the picture. She will “drop” her toys on command. She will also “sit”, “stay”, “lay down” (she thinks that means rolling onto her back for a belly rub). She will “come” unless she is tracking something with her nose to the ground, so I never let her run loose. I put her on a long lead out front and she’s very content. She loves long walks on the leash, and I use a harness for the occasional pulling ahead – she can’t wait to see what’s around the next turn. She lets joggers, hikers and bikers pass without any problems. She usually wants to sniff out any dogs. She does the shy “knee hug” sometimes when people want to pet her, but once they have, she’ll flop onto her back for tummy rubs. She has never, ever snapped at anyone. She has had brief tussles with other dogs, but it’s all show, and I think it’s just them sorting things out. She used to be best friends with a big lab-rotty mix, and they’d play and run together. She would try to pull toys out of Maggie’s mouth. She has lived with cats without any problem.

She is completely house-broken. Indoors, Kaylea is a snuggler. She will curl up next to me or on my legs when I’m relaxing. She sleeps at the foot (only) of my bed on her little blanket. She has a large wire kennel and will go into it when I say the “kennel” command, but I stopped having her stay in it while I’m at work once I figured out she’s not a chewer or destructive. I keep the kennel door open and she often naps in it. I only use positive reinforcement for training. She loves her biscuit rewards. She is up to date on her shots and has never had any health problems.

If you are interested in meeting Kaylea, please complete an online adoption application.
