Jagger

Hi! My name is Jagger. I am one year old, white with buff eyes and ears, spots, and freckles on my nose. I’m always hunting around for things I can play with and chew on. My favorite thing used to be my dad’s shoe when he forgot to put them away. So now my foster mom makes sure I have a rawhide chew and I really love them. Sometimes I’ll play with my foster brother’s toys. If you watch the video that we posted to our Facebook page, you will see me in action.

I love attention and affection. My previous parents didn’t have much time to spend with me so I am still learning things like it’s not OK to beg at the table and the meaning of down. I love to go on walks and drink from the sprinkler heads when they are on. I am very inquisitive and have to look at and smell everything so I like a very long leash. I come when you call my name and also when you whistle for me. I travel well in the car and get along well with other dogs.

I love to be in the same room with you or lying at your feet but I will stay outside all day when you are working if you wish. I need a family that has time to play with me and I will become your best friend.

Jagger is neutered, up to date on his vaccinations and will be microchipped for you. If you are interested in meeting him, please make sure that you have an online adoption application on file. Jagger’s adoption fee is $300.

Chester

Chester has received multiple adoption applicatons.  You may apply with the understanding that he may no longer be available!

We would like to introduce you to Chester. He is a 10-month old boy with a luxuriously soft coat and his full Cocker tail! Chester asked us, his foster parents, if we could introduce you to him. He would do it himself, but he is still a bit wary of the world outside of his comfort zone. You see, one day he was going about his puppy business when his people told him to hop in the car. Next thing he knew, he was left at a very scary animal shelter. He didn’t know what happened or what he did wrong. He waited and waited and he didn’t understand why his family wasn’t coming back to get him. Then, someone leashed him up and put him in another car. He wondered if he might be going home, but instead, he rode in that car for a long time and ended up in Denver, Colorado. That’s a long way from his Kansas home!

Chester ended up at our house and needed a great deal of love and reassurance that he was a good boy and was loved VERY much. That’s an easy thing to do when he’s as cute and cuddly as a teddy bear! He’s also an unbelievably well behaved boy – sometimes we forget that he’s only a puppy. He minds his manners as best he can, listens when he’s told “no,” understands some basic commands and does remarkably well on a leash. He loves to play fetch and chew on his toys, but you don’t need to worry about Chester chewing up your things. He knows exactly what things belong to him and what things belong to you. Chester is kind to all creatures big and small. He knows not to chase cats, even when they run. He knows not to nip at little fingers that reach through the gate to pet his perfectly cute face. He also loves to cuddle up with fellow canines for an afternoon nap!

Although Chester is a well-behaved boy, we have to remember that he is still a puppy. For that reason, like all puppies, it is best if he doesn’t go to a home with very young children. Also, because of Chester’s timid nature, we don’t think he would do well in a home with a strong, dominating, alpha personality. He would do just fine with another sweet dog (or cat!) that just wants to be his friend, though. We actually think he would do best in a home with another dog to keep him company if his humans are away – he sure does love to snuggle! Chester is house-trained; however, he is also a puppy and we do have occasional accidents. He needs a family that can help him learn through kindness and understanding as he can become very fearful and stressed if he feels he’s done anything wrong.

Chester is a remarkable little guy and we don’t think he’ll stick around long. With a face this cute and a perfect personality to go with it, he’ll be snatched up quick. Chester is very excited to meet you, so put your application in today!

Chester is neutered, up to date on all vaccinations and will be microchipped for you.  Our online adoption application is here.

Prince

Hi!  My name is Prince.  That’s just what I am – a Prince.  This is the second time I’ve been at Rocky Mountain Cocker Rescue and I’m looking for someone that will love me for the rest of my life.  See, this time I’m back because my owner had some family difficulties and understood that I wasn’t getting the attention that I deserved!  I’m in a wonderful foster home right now with some other fun dogs, but I really want a home of my own.

I love kids and I love to play!  I’ll chase the ball if you throw it.  If you’re busy, I can even toss it myself and chase after it.  I’m really no problem at all.  I’m a love bug too!  I like to sit next to you and give you lots of attention and puppy kisses!  I’ve had a few problems with my ears and with the skin on my tummy, but they think they’ve got that under control.  If you feed me good food and clean my ears regularly, I promise not to be a problem!   So, please call soon!  I’ll be waiting to meet you.

Prince is four years old,  up to date on all of his vaccinations, is neutered and microchipped. If you are interested in meeting him, please complete an online adoption application.

Maxwell

Hi there, my name is Maxwell. You may not know it yet, but you’ve been waiting your whole life to find a dog like me. I’m a young, handsome guy who’s on the small side – only three years old and barely weighing in at 20 pounds. You know what that means? I’m the perfect size for your lap, which, if I had it my way, is where I would spend most of my time. I arrived in Denver on a transport from Kansas. It was a long ride, but I hear folks in Colorado are real nice and I’m hoping I might get a chance at a life where I’m safe and loved forever.

My foster family doesn’t really know how I’ve gotten this far in life without finding a family who wouldn’t dream of parting with me. First of all, they tell me I’m cute as a button with my fabulous markings, soft coat and tiny stature (not to mention eyes that will melt your heart). Secondly, I’m about as sweet as they come. I love to cuddle and sit in laps and have my belly rubbed. It is my purpose in life to love you unconditionally. Third, I’m still full of puppy spunk without the hassle of needing to be trained. Playing ball is probably the most fun thing in the world, don’t you think? If you don’t have a ball, I love to wrestle and play with my people – it’s such a good time! Walks are good, too. My foster parents says I still need some work on my walking manners, but they say for a pup that probably hasn’t had any experience, I’m learning pretty darn fast. I would never dream of doing my outside business in the house and I certainly know not to destroy my home as well. I’m not a barker (for a while, my foster mom wondered if I even had a voice!) and I mind very well. Disappointing you probably upsets me more than it does you. I know what “no” means and you can bet that if you tell me once, I won’t do it again. All I want is for us to be happy together.

Are you ready for the icing on the cake? I get along with anyone and anything. Big dogs, small dogs, fluffy cats, hairless cats, tiny humans, big humans… You name it, I’ll adapt! So what do you say? I have been waiting a long time for a warm lap and someone who loves me as much as I love them. Do you have room in your heart and your home for the love of your life?

Maxwell is up to date on all vaccinations, is neutered and will be microchipped for you. If you are interested in meeting Maxwell, please complete an online adoption application.

Coco’s Happy Tale

Carol and Coco

Coco is another of our sweet Cocker Spaniels that never made it onto the Web site.  Word of mouth led her to Carol before we could even post her.  Coco came to us from a local shelter and she needed to be spayed and groomed before we could get photos of her to post to our Web site.  Her foster mom had heard that Carol was looking to find a new companion after her beloved Brooke had passed away from cancer.  So, a meeting was arranged and that was that!  Carol has a new companion and Coco has a new forever home!  All is well in their world.

Lady

Lady is just like her name–a little lady! After extensive surgeries, she is healthy, well, and a very happy 10 year old dog. She’s sedate, but romps with the other dogs when it’s playtime. She is hard of hearing but not deaf–she hears where I call “cookies” very well!  Lady is very loving and adores sleeping on the couch next to her foster mama. She gets along great with the other dogs and cats, and is almost too well potty-trained: immediately after her first surgery she insisted on tottering to the potty pad: after that she insisted on going outside. Lady knows Sit, Come, and Off, Outside and Cookie.

She’s had an eye removed and is on inexpensive twice-daily drops in the remaining eye to prevent glaucoma. Of course, she doesn’t think she has a problem: she negotiates the house and the yard without a problem.

Lady walks well on a leash, chews nothing but her own toys, and is a total little love-bug!  She sometimes gets grouchy when there are other dogs around that she can’t see, but gets over it immediately.

Please give our little Lady a good home. She is the sweetest dog ever made, with absolutely no behavior problems. Oops! I forgot: she gets into the kitchen trash container very cleverly and loves to eat used tissues.  She’s fully vetted, spayed and microchipped and is ready to be your new best friend.

If you interested in meeting Lady, please make sure you’ve completed an online adoption application.

Joe

Joe is a sweet, affectionate, buff-and-white, male American Cocker Spaniel.  We estimate his age to be approximately 3-4 years old.

Joe was surrendered to the shelter in Phoenix and is coming to RMCR.  He is not excessively energetic; however, he loves romping in the yard with other dogs and tries to play cats. He plays well with children as young as 5-years-old. He’s a little shy at first and somewhat insecure until he gets to know someone new, but once he warms up he is just a lover who enjoys people’s attention. He loves to play with balls and squeaky toys and he is learning tug-of-war with the other dogs. As you can see by his pictures, he loves rawhide chewies, also!

Joe does have issues with men initially, but he can be sweet talked with gentle voices, petting and yummy treats. He warms up quickly and should not have any problems after an initial adjustment period.

He is house-trained and crate-trained and uses the crate voluntarily. At night he is loose in the house and does not have any accidents. This very gentle boy is learning his basic commands such as ‘sit’ and ‘come’, but only ‘come’ is solid at this point. He has not shown any resource guarding issues; his foster mom can take away his food or chew toy without incident. He is neutered and up-to-date on his shots, so he’s ready for his new forever home! If you are willing to work with him and socialize him to strangers, he will be a wonderful best friend for you!

If you are interested in meeting Joe, please make sure you have completed and online adoption application.

Maggie (6 year old white/tan)

Meet Maggie!  She is a six year old buff and white female Cocker Spaniel from Colorado Springs.  Her mom is having to relocate and can’t take Maggie with her, so she’s looking for a new home.

Maggie is spayed and is up to date on her vaccines (Rabies due 01/12 and others 12/11).  Maggie is prone to ear infections, but her current diet seems to be helping keep those under control.  She gets along well with other dogs and has proven to be trusted alone in the home, roaming freely for extended periods of time.  She is house trained, but not crate trained.  She’s good with children as long as they don’t pull on her ears.  She knows basic commands and will shake or give you a high five.

If you are interested in meeting Maggie, please make sure you’ve completed an onlne adoption applcation.

Doodle

Doodle is a lively, affectionate and intelligent 8-10 month old female Cocker Spaniel.  She crates well and gets along great with other dogs.  Doodle sometimes chases the cats, but in a playful way.  She knows sit, come, cookie, and off, and we’re working on wait right now.  She is mostly house-trained, but still has the occasional accident–nothing that consistent training won’t fix.  She loves to give kisses and cuddle, and is always at her foster mom’s feet.  This adorable little girl loves her toys, especially her rawhide chewie.  Doodle has been spayed, has all her shots, and is microchipped.  If you’re looking for a lively dog who gives endless affection, this is the dog for you!

If you are interested in Doodle, please complete an online adoption application.

Jax

Jax is a five-month old puppy, white/buff with some brown spots who will
melt your heart.  Weighing in at only 10 pounds, he’s a ball of energy who
loves to be pet behind the ears, on his tummy, sits on his foster mom’s lap,
and loves to chew his new toys.  In return, he gives her kisses and will
have a ‘nap attack’ when he runs out of energy any time during the day.  He
is crate trained and sleeps in his crate at night and during the day for
naps.  Socially, he has adapted well to his foster brothers and sister and
is a friendly little guy.  He knows the basic commends such as ‘down’ and
‘stay’ and has basic understanding of potty skills.  He has had a few
accidents in the house, but we think this is due to excitement.  He has a
good appetite, which is good because he could stand to put on a few pounds!
He is very loving to his foster parents and foster dog siblings, but also
understands to keep his distance if warned.  He is very socially
intelligent.  He has past experience with chew bones and toys and entertains
himself well which is amazing for a five-month old puppy.  We have limited
knowledge of his leash training, but he appears to be comfortable on a
leash.

Jax is up to date on all of his vaccinations but will need to be neutered  and microchipped before being adopted.  If you are interested in meeting Jax, please complete an online adoption application.
