We’re pleased to introduce you to Penny! Penny is five years old and is being surrendered by her owner due to divorce and relocation.
Penny is house trained and kennel trained, although her owner lets her have free reign of the house when she’s not at home. The best home for Penny would be with an active single person or couple. She loves going on walks. She would do best with someone who is very patient, loving and kind and would let her sleep with them or sit with them on the couch. She loves to be held and cuddled. She is sweet and loving and likes to be around you all the time, so it would need to be a home where she can be with them in the kitchen, etc.
Penny does get along with other dogs, but would prefer to be the only dog in your life. She is jealous of babies and toddlers, so any children should be older. She’s never been around cats, so we recommend a cat-free home. She’s not a barker – she only barks when someone rings the doorbell to let you know you have visitors. She’s also a great runner. She can run alongside a bike on a leash. She loves to play outside, chase birds and squirrels in the yard. She loves to chew on toys and chew sticks. She’s spayed and up to date on her vaccinations.
If you are interested in meeting Penny, please complete an online adoption application.

My name is “Cookie”. I’ve had a long road traveled to get to the Rockin’ Paw people… I was taken in by policemen because of a cruelty/neglect charge. I was so very scared. I’ve been to the veterinarian and she told my foster mom that I have heartworm disease. My foster mom cried, and said “whatever it takes we will get him well”. I am so thankful that they love me and are working hard to get me healthy enough to find a loving home of my very own… I have been neutered and all of my vaccinations and deworming is current, and I start my heartworm treatment next week. I am only 4 years old. I’ve already learned my housetraining rules, and I absolutely love to snuggle and be petted. I really like my foster dog friends – we like to roll around in the grass and chase each other in the yard. I promise to be your best friend ever – think about me. I know I am a black dog, with special health concerns – but I will be eternally grateful and your very best friend if you choose me. Call my foster mom today!

3-5-10: My name is “Grayson” and I was so lucky to be rescued by my foster mom! She has taken such good care of me, and I am finally comfortable and safe. I am neutered, and about 7-8 years of age. All my shots are current, I am heartworm negative, and I am just looking for love now – somebody who will love me every day and spend time with me. My eyes need drops every day for a touch of ‘dry eye’, but I am a healthy boy, and ready for my second chance to be your forever love.

Maddie is a nine year old Cocker Spaniel that recently lost her owner and is looking for a new home. She is a black spayed female and came into rescue with her best pal, Flag. She would like to be adopted with Flag, but it is not necessary.
Maddie is spayed and is up to date on her vaccinations which will be due in June 2010 except for rabies which will not be due until June of 2011. She is good with other animals, but would prefer all of your attention if possible! She is house trained and is in good health.
Maddie’s former owner had her own home-based business and was at home with her a lot, so she is used to having someone around. Currently she spends 5-6 hours unsupervised and is fine. The best home situation for her would be with owners that either work part-time, have a home-based business, or are retired. She would really like a nice fenced yard so that she can get out and investigate. We recommend a home without young children since she’s never lived in that environment. She has done fine with children at adoption events.
If you are interested in meeting Maddie, please complete one of our online adoption applications.

Logan is almost ten years old and is looking for a new home. Her family has had her for her whole life, but now that there are children, she’s feeling a little left out! Also, the youngest is allergic to her.
Logan often gets mistaken for a puppy, and since Cocker Spaniels can live up to 16 years, she’s still fairly young! She loves to play outside and go for long walks and chase balls. She gets along with other dogs and cats, but would really like to live with a new owner that will spend more time with her and make her the center of attention. She would also probably be fine with older children that would play with her.
Logan is spayed and will be up to date on her vaccinations and microchipped before she goes to her new home. She’s house trained, crate trained and leash trained. If you are interested in meeting Logan, please complete an online adoption application.

Beatrix and Don with Sammy and Nixie
Don and Beatrix were looking for a companion for nine year old Sammy when they stumbled across our web site. They asked about a couple of the pups, but decided that Nixie would be the best fit. They came to visit him at one of the Petco adoption events and they only had to look at him to know he was the right one. Sammy seemed to agree. Nixie settled right in, even falling asleep on Don’s lap as they drove home that afternoon. Sammy is teaching Nixie how to fetch and play with toys. All in all, we think he’s going to have a good life! Way to go, Nixie!

Teresa and Boots
Boots came to us from Nebraska after his elderly owner realized a two year old dog had too much energy for her 80+ years. This totally adorable American Cocker Spaniel stole a lot of hearts, but he saved his heart for Teresa who saw him at one of our adoption events at Petco. Boots and Teresa have bonded tightly in their few days together; he never wants to be parted from her and covers her in kisses when she comes home! This precious dog loves to be carried like a baby with his head on her shoulder! We are so happy for this little boy who is now the center of his mom’s attention and life. Teresa receives his unconditional love and full attention. He even ignores the guinea pigs in the home! They snuggle together all night, take long walks, and play fetch when he isn’t in clicker training to become a perfectly trained pup. We think these two will be velcroed together for many years to come.

Vince with Dan and Sarah, peeking over the other dog's head!
Vince is such a handsome, gentle and friendly American Cocker Spaniel, so it’s always a surprise to us when we get dogs like this who were found as strays. Vince came to us from southwest Missouri just a few days prior to his debut at an adoption event. Dan and Sarah came to the Petco at Highlands Ranch looking for a playmate for their Basset Hound and immediately fell in love with Vince, so they rushed home to get their other dogs to see if it would be a good match. Although Vince is dwarfed in the picture (only his little head is showing), he indeed fits into the family well and plays with his new best buddy all the time. Welcome to Colorado and your new forever home, Vince!

Emma with Rita, Terry and Dusty
Emma came to us from South Dakota after her family surrendered her due to economic conditions. She was a little shy at first and confused as to why the only family she knew in her 2 years of life had abandoned her, but soon her sweetheart personality started to show itself and she enjoyed all the attention she was getting at her foster home and adoption event. Terry and Rita happened to stop at our booth at an adoption event at the Highlands Ranch Petco when this black beauty caught their eyes. Emma fell in love with Terry immediately (or was it vice versa?), but she still had to pass muster with Dusty, the family dog, before she could adopt her new parents. The couple’s six-month-old granddaughter also had to approve since she visited several days a week. Emma turned on the charm and wiggled her way into their hearts. She is still trying to get Dusty to play with her so she can prove how much fun she is to be around, but we’re sure they will be best friends before too long. How could anyone resist that gorgeous Cocker Spaniel?

Emma is a beautiful two year old black female Cocker Spaniel that came to Denver all the way from South Dakota in hopes of finding her new forever home. Her foster mom describes her as a “go along” dog. Time to eat? OK. Time for bed? OK. Don’t potty in the house, use the pet door or ask to go out. OK. Just a sweet, nice, gentle girl. She loves the back yard and doesn’t hesitate if you beckon her to your chair for petting. She gets along with everyone and should be good with children. Emma is housetrained and is comfortable with a crate.
Emma is up to date on her vaccinations and is spayed. She’s just waiting for you to make her your very own.
If you want to meet Emma, please fill out an online adoption application.
