Oreo is around eight and a half years old and is a Cockapoo. She is looking for a new home. As she has aged, she’s become less tolerant of the kids in the home and has snapped at them. She’s hoping that her new home will be a comfortable place to relax and enjoy! She currently lives with a cat and says that’s OK – they are best friends! She should not go to a home with young children.

Oreo is black with a white chest and chin and is slightly more Poodle than Cocker. She’s spayed, house trained and crate trained although she doesn’t really care for the kennel. She has had obedience training and knows several commands as well as how to shake and roll over. RMCR will ensure that she is up to date on her vaccinations and that she is microchipped.

If you are interested in meeting Oreo, please make sure you’ve completed an online adoption application.

Hello, my name is Miss Bobbi Mae, and I got very lucky when the animal control officer chose to call the rescue to come get me. He told me they would “put me down” immediately after my 72 hour hold because I had a bad eye… I don’t understand what he meant, but my foster mom was sure upset about it! She just loved on me and hugged me and told me “what a lucky girl” I was!! She is taking me to the ophthalmologist in Kansas City to have my eye looked at to see if it can get better. I am trying to be very good so I can make friends and find a loving home of my own very soon. I am already housetrained, my vaccines have been updated, and I am heartworm negative. I am approximately 6-7 years of age. AND, I’ve had my teeth cleaned up pearly white, and I am spayed too! I love to follow my foster mom and the other foster dogs around the house and the yard too. Call about me today or email the rescue at: rockinpaw@cableone.net (620) 340-2749. You may text this number too!

****************************************************************************************************

ADOPTION FEE: All veterinary services inclusive. Out of state adoptions may require an additional fee for transportation and/or health certificates required.

****************************************************************************************************

NOTE: All applications are processed in the order received, but an adoption is made to the best application received for each of our animals. All applicants must provide a veterinary reference on the adoption application. Home visits occur prior to each adoption. Understand that the adoption fee is not for the purchase of a dog, but rather to cover the medical cost of the dogs in our care.

Husker is a delightful three year old neutered male that came to us from Wyoming. He was an owner surrender due to health issues of his previous owner. He is a black and white merle with two different colored eyes. He’s a bit larger than your typical Cocker Spaniel, weighing around 45 pounds.

Husker is a little timid around men but seems to be very comfortable around women. He does warm up to men with time. He would probably do best in a home older children. He can be a little leash aggressive so care should be taken on walks. We’re not sure how he would react to cats. He seems to be completely house trained, is crate trained and loves to play fetch.

Husker is up to date on all of his vaccinations with his rabies due in September of 2012 and is microchipped.

If you are interested in meeting Husker, please make sure you’ve submitted an online adoption application.

Dodie with Poppi

Dodie sent the following note to us about her new life with Zebie, who she now calls Poppi. We’re so happy to have been a part of this perfect fit!

I lost my 14 year old cocker last November 3rd. From January through April I fostered a cocker/terrier mix. Then I knew that I wanted/needed to have my own little girl again. I looked on-line at various sites, and found a pretty little dog I was interested in, but she was already in a foster to adopt situation. I kept watching, and Zebie (now Poppi) appeared, and I quickly sent an application in to adopt her.

Within a couple of weeks, John called, and asked if I wanted to meet Zebie. “YES! I DO!” I met her at her foster mom’s home on a Sunday afternoon, fell immediately in love with her and brought her home with me. She made herself right at home while I acquainted her with her ‘outhouse’ and various other things – like her bed, her crate, and her toy box — all those important things, and she just settled in. She was napping soundly 30 mins. after we got home.

She’s been here with me now, for a month. Its as though she’s been here all of her 6 years. She loves playing with the neighbor’s dogs through our shadow box fences, and occasionally we exchange ‘play dates’so they can all really play together for an hour or so. She loves her Kong treat ball – empty or full, having her ears scratched and her belly rubbed…and very big, very wet kisses if you happen to be within 6″ of her tongue!! Naps are also high on her list of things to do.

She doesn’t like to have me out of her sight for too long, but is o.k. when I have to run an errand or two. She’s still a little skittish when people/friends visit, if she’s not yet met them. They all know to approach her gently and let her make up her mind when she’s ready to befriend them – it doesn’t take all that long. She does have to check them out pretty thoroughly however.

She’s very, very good at making me laugh, its like having my own, personal, little clown around all the time.

I’m so thankful to the RMCR for getting us together. I am amazed at their professionalism and caring and effort – not only for the dogs, but for the new owner(s) as well. Just is very nice to know there are caring people like that, to find these little dogs new and happy homes. And I thank them for all their work and concern and thoroughness.

Hi, I am Charlie. I am a young male Cocker Spaniel, between one and two years old and I have my entire tail! I had a very tough start in life. I was mistreated by my previous owner. I was left outside and barely fed. Fortunately, someone took pity on my and I was rescued and brought to Rocky Mountain Cocker Rescue.

When I first got to my foster house, I didn’t want to come inside and had no idea what steps were. I quickly learned that I can do both and love it! Despite my tough upbringing, I am an incredibly loving little boy. I love to be with other dogs and play with them. I also love to have my person scratch me for hours.

As you can see from the pictures, Charlie is a gorgeous black and white Cocker. He is up to date ono his shots and will be getting neutered prior to adoption. He’s also microchipped. He is very excitable when on a leash and he sees other dogs. He wants to play with them all!

If you are interested in meeting Charlie, please make sure you’ve completed an online adoption application.

Meet Charley! He’s around eight years old , while with black markings, and is looking for a new home because his owners are relocating and cannot take him along. Shhh! – don’t tell his owners, but Charley told us he likes Colorado anyway.

Charley is around 40 pounds, is house trained and crate trained. He has a lot of energy and sticks close to home. Over the years he has become afraid of thunder but is happy to wait out the storm in his crate. He’s great with kids, cats and other dogs.. He is well trained as he has had both obedience and home training. Although he has been taught to perform well on a lead, he hasn’t been walked in awhile, so his new owners would need to work with him to remind him of these skills. He is completely up to date on his vaccinations (rabies due in 2013).

If you are interested in meeting Charely, please make sure you have completed an online adoption form.

Pebbles is an energetic two year old female Cocker Spaniel that was an owner surrender to one of the local shelters. She is a total sweetheart who bonds quickly with her caretakers. She is black with a fair amount of white on her chest. She also has very light, barely noticeable, white patches on her head and back. Also, she also has one blue eye and one brown eye!

She has been fostered with other dogs and with a cat and gets along well. We don’t know anything about her past or why she was surrendered, but she seems to be the happiest little girl ever. Her little tail never seems to stop wagging and she dearly loves a tummy rub! One of her ear flaps is thick with cartilage as if it was damaged when she was younger. She seems to be house trained and learned how to use a doggy door almost immediately. She loves to dance on her back legs for attention or to try and see what’s on the kitchen counter!

Pebbles is indeed a joy and would make a wonderful addition to any home. She is spayed, up to date on her vaccinations and microchipped.

Toby is a three and one-half year old Cocker Spaniel/Cavalier King Charles mix who is being surrendered by his owner. They have a seven-month old child that is becoming more mobile and Toby is a bit jealous, although he gets along well with the older children and another dog in the house. Toby is neutered, is house trained (although he has a rare occasional accident in the house) and is up to date on his vaccinations (due February 2012).

Toby knows basic commands, knows how to use his doggy door, is very playful and loves his squeaky balls and his bones. He would be a wonderful addition to a home with older kids and other dogs. We’re not sure about cats. Toby has small siezures that have been diagnosed as not serious during which he seems to be snapping at flies. These seizures are not harmful to him or anyone else, however a potential adopter would want to share this information with their vet so that it can be watched in the future.

If you are interested in meeting Toby, please make sure you have completed an online adoption application.

Confetti is approximately five years old. Confetti is white with black spots. She is as sweet as you can imagine and gets along with other dogs (after an initial adjustment period) and children. She is spayed and up to date on her vaccinations and is microchipped.

Confetti came to Denver from Kansas City where she was picked up as a stray. She was matted and suffering from an upper respiratory infection, so we did not realize that she had total hearing loss. She was segregated from the other dogs in her foster home, so that gave her time to adjust to her environment and meet the dogs without incident. At adoption events, she seems to be leash aggressive, charging at other dogs that invade her space, but this is posturing to protect her space. Once she is comfortable with the other canine companions, she gets along just fine. She has a unique coat, black and white with patches of buff on her feet and on her eyebrows. Most likely, her deafness is a result of inbreeding for coat quality by one of the many puppy mills in existence in Missouri.

Confetti has a fun personality. She “sings” in the car, making special sounds to remind everyone that she’s there and is enjoying the ride. She loves to watch out the window. At home, she loves exploring her yard and rolling in the grass. She is not the least affected by her hearing loss and just wants a permanent home where she can get all the attention she deserves.

If you are interested in meeting Confetti, please make sure you have completed an online adoption application.
