Guthrie

Guthrie has pending adoption applications!  You can still apply with the understanding that he may not be available.

My foster parents call me Guthrie the Wonder Dog. They told me that wonder means, “A feeling of surprise mingled with admiration, caused by something beautiful, unexpected, or inexplicable.” You see, when they first met me, I had no story to tell them so they wondered what kind of boy I would be. All they knew was that I ended up in a Salt Lake City shelter completely matted and very afraid. They were surprised after only one night with them, the fear was gone. They were overcome with a feeling of wonder as a beautiful soul came back to life in me.

You couldn’t ask for a better dog to join your family, really. I am loving and playful. I am young and handsome. I get along with all other four-legged friends whether feline or canine. Like most young and active pups, I probably shouldn’t be in a home with very young children quite yet, but I think I would enjoy playing with older kids. I love to play fetch and with balls in general. I really enjoy my toys and know the difference between your treasures and my own. Walks and playing outdoors are my favorite. Being outside with my people is the best time of day (well, besides meal time)! I am a good boy and I listen well. I’m very house-trained and know a few basic commands. My foster parents predict I will know more by the time you get me (I’m very smart, too!).

Although I can’t tell you about my past, it has had an impact on me. While I am a happy boy when I am with my family, I can still get scared around strangers (especially at the doctor’s office!). I really need to find a loving family that can help me feel secure for the rest of my life. I would do best in a home that has someone who knows how to be the pack leader and can show me the ropes in trusting all humankind again.

There’s this guy that shares my name. You may have heard of him – Woody Guthrie? Well, he said this really great thing that rings true to me. “All at once, no matter what has happened to you, you are building a brand new world again, based and built on the mistakes, the wreck, the hard luck and trouble of the old one.” I’ve definitely had some hard luck in my short life, but I know it was all just to get me here to this rescue so I could meet you. While I can’t tell you much about my past, I know I’m ready to start building my brand new world with a family that will love me forever. Are you ready to fill your life with some wonder? Then, hurry and fill out an online adoption application for Guthrie the Wonder Dog!

Guthrie is around two years old, up to date on his vaccinations, is neutered and will be microchipped for his new owner!

Rusty

Rusty has an active adoption application!

Rusty is another Kansas native that is here in Denver to find a new home.  He’s around four years old and is reddish colored with white markings.  He was a stray and his family chose not to pay the fines and veterinary fees, so he was sent to RMCR.

Rusty is neutered and up to date on all of his vaccinations.  He’s a friendly little guy.  He seems to be completely house trained and does well on a lead.  Rusty is a very good escape artist, so anyone wishing to adopt him should have a very high and secure fence and be monitored when left outdoors alone.  He gets along very well with other dogs, but should not be placed in a home with cats.  He seems fine with children as young as six.  RMCR will microchip Rusty for his new owners.

If  you are interested in Rusty, please make sure you’ve completed an online adoption application.

Bear

Bear is a three and one-half year old male Cockapoo.  He’s looking for a new home with a more quiet environment.  He would do best in a home without children, or at least with children over the age of twelve.

Bear likes to help “parent” the children when they are misbehaving and tries to nip at them.  The owners are concerned that he might eventually bite one of them.  Most of the time, he is very loving and wants to cuddle with them, but it seems as if he gets a little over excited when they they do!  Bear is an indoor dog who is house trained, crate trained but loves to go on walks and to go camping with the family.  He goes to the dog park and gets along well with the other dogs there.  He’s lived with a cat and it worked out well!  Bear is neutered and up to date on his vaccinations.

If you are interested in meeting Bear, please make sure you’ve completed an online adoption application.

Bobbi Mae

Bobbi Mae is a courtesy cross-post for another rescue.  Please use the contact information below if you are interested in her.

Hello, my name is Miss Bobbi Mae, and I got very lucky when the animal control officer chose to call the rescue to come get me.  He told me they would “put me down” immediately after my 72 hour hold because I had a bad eye…  I don’t understand what he meant, but my foster mom was sure upset about it!  She just loved on me and hugged me and told me “what a lucky girl” I was!!  She is taking me to the ophthalmologist in Kansas City to have my eye looked at to see if it can get better.  I am trying to be very good so I can make friends and find a loving home of my own very soon.  I am already housetrained, my vaccines have been updated, and I am heartworm negative.  I am approximately 6-7 years of age.  AND, I’ve had my teeth cleaned up pearly white, and I am spayed too!  I love to follow my foster mom and the other foster dogs around the house and the yard too.  Call about me today or email the rescue at:   rockinpaw@cableone.net     (620) 340-2749.  You may text this number too!

May

May has an adoption application pending!

Meet May!  In the couple weeks she has been in foster care, this two-to-three year old has seemed to adjust pretty quickly. She is very sweet and eager to please her people. She gets along well with other dogs and she doesn’t seem to care about cats once she knows they are part of the house. She is very attentive and responds to every sound in the house but will settle down when the house is calm. She is not a big barker but will let out a yap if she hears something out of the ordinary in the middle of the night. She is somewhat crate trained, meaning she will not go in on command but she will go in and stay in with very little protest. At night she sleeps with another dog in a confined area, and only whines a little at first and then quiets down until morning.

She seems to be house trained but her people need to pay attention to her actions when she is wanting to go out or she will have an accident near the door. May walks well on a leash so long as you don’t give her too much lead. She will walk beside you only pulling a bit when she smells something interesting. She seems to have a healthy appetite but it seems she was spoiled previously with people food.  She doesn’t like to eat dry food by itself, so her fosters have had to mix in wet food in order for her to eat which has worked quite well. She is starting to learn commands but is definitely determined to find her own way of doing things. We have not seen her around children, so a home without toddlers is probably best. Overall she is a good dog that needs a good home with strong pack leaders and she will be happy.

May is spayed and up to date on her vaccinations.  She will be microchipped for her new owner.  She’s quite small at only around 20 pounds or so.

If you are interested in meeting May, please make sure you’ve completed an online adoption application.

Ian

Ian has an adoption application pending!

Ian is a healthy, beautiful black seven month old, neutered, purebred male Cocker Spaniel who is looking for a forever home. His coat is silky and shiny, and his eyes have a bright glow. He has a tiny white streak running down the front of his neck. Ian did not fit well into his prior home because it was said that he did not get along with other dogs and was nervous around children. However, in his foster home Ian is loving, sweet and gentle and gets along well with the other two dogs. He takes directions from the two year old male Alpha Cocker in the household and has even learned some manners from him. He plays well with the other two year old more subdued male Cocker and shows no apprehension, nervousness or aggression around children of all ages. He is friendly with strangers and adults. When hand feeding treats he takes them in his turn and with a soft mouth.

Ian is going to make that special family just the right companion. He is quiet, without excessive barking and is a very bright and happy little guy who loves attention, playing and cuddling. He will sit on command, corrects easily on leash, and is willing and ready to learn. He takes behavior corrections well. Ian loves being with his people, running around with soft toys in his mouth, playing fetch, and chewing on bones. He is housetrained and is used to sleeping in a crate in the bedroom at night, although he would love to sleep in bed with you, if you would allow it. He is used to free run of the house while the humans are home, and being crated for a few hours when they have to leave. He loves sitting on the window bench and watching the world go by or investigating things in the back yard. He would most likely be happiest in a home where he is not alone for long hours. He has gotten used to doggie companions while in foster care and would probably benefit from being adopted into a home with one other dog his size, and humans who are ready to receive all the love this little guy has to offer.

Ian is up to date on his vaccinations and RMCR will microchip him for you.

Ian has brought much joy and love to his foster family and is ready to do the same for his forever family. He is a bundle of love!

If you are interested in meeting Ian, please make sure you’ve completed an online adoption application.

Husker

Husker is a delightful three year old neutered male that came to us from Wyoming.  He was an owner surrender due to health issues of his previous owner.  He is a black and white merle with two different colored eyes.  He’s a bit larger than your typical Cocker Spaniel, weighing around 45 pounds.

Husker is a little timid around men but seems to be very comfortable around women.  He does warm up to men with time.  He would probably do best in a home older children.  He can be a little leash aggressive so care should be taken on walks.  We’re not sure how he would react to cats.  He seems to be completely house trained, is crate trained and loves to play fetch.

Husker is up to date on all of his vaccinations with his rabies due in September of 2012 and is microchipped.

If you are interested in meeting Husker, please make sure you’ve submitted an online adoption application.

Cookie and Ginger

Ginger and Cookie are five year old white and copper sisters who love to be with each other.  They are an attractive pair with wonderful coloring and soft coats.  They enjoy playing indoors with their toys and romping in the yard.  They get along well with other dogs and with children.  These girls should adapt easily and quickly to their new home.

These two came to us from southeast Missouri.  They are both spayed and up to date on their vaccinations.  RMCR will microchip both for a new owner.  These two girls are very closely bonded and have always been together.  Therefore, they will only be adopted as a pair.

If you are interested in adopting this adorable pair, please make sure you’ve completed an online adoption application.

Sam

Oh, hi! I’m so excited you want to learn more about me. My name is Sam and I’m a young, happy boy with tons of love to give. You might wonder how a handsome, one-year old pup like myself ends up in rescue. Well, let me tell you my story. I was part of a wonderful family and had lots of kids to call my very own. Everyone loved me very much, but I am just a puppy and I didn’t understand that little kids couldn’t play like puppies can play. My family decided that they did not have the perfect forever home for me and wanted me to find a family who could give me everything I need.

What do I need, you ask? Great question! I need PLENTY of playtime and love. I want to spend lots of time wrestling, running, jumping, rolling and kissing! I also love to snuggle. I’m really good at snuggling. Please remember, I am still enjoying the glory days of my puppyhood and I must go home with a patient family that can lovingly help me become a shining canine citizen. I love to find treasures – socks, bottle caps, paper…. Everything is so fun! I need someone who can help me remember that my toys are for me and everything else is for you.

I probably shouldn’t live with young children quite yet, but if you have another dog that would be fantastic. And guess what? I love cats, too! Ready for the icing on the cake? I’ve had lots of obedience training and I know my doggy commands. I listen really well, too. I just want to make you happy. Want to know something really cool? I am bell trained. I ring a bell when I have to go potty so you can let me out. Don’t I sound like a dream? My foster parents don’t think I’ll be around long – they said I’m about as great as a dog can be. So you better hurry and fill out an application and set up a time to meet me! I’ll be waiting!

Sam is up to date on his vaccinations until February 2012 and is microchipped.  If you are interested in meeting him, please make sure you’ve completed an online adoption application.

Poncho

Poncho has a pending adoption application!  You can still apply with the understanding that he may not be available.

Meet Poncho!  Poncho is a two year old neutered black and white Cocker Spaniel that came to us from Arkansas.  He looks to be at least part English Cocker Spaniel, if not full blood.

Poncho is great with other dogs and children of all ages, and we assume he would be fine with cats.   He has a great personalty – he smiles and shows his front teeth and wiggles his little rump at the same time.  He rides well in the car and is fine on a lead, although he does tend to pull a bit.  He is up to date on all of his vaccinations and is heartworm and Lyme Disease negative.  RMCR will make sure that he is microchipped for his new family.

If you are interested in meeting Poncho, please make sure you’ve completed an online adoption application.
