Rocky Mountain Cocker Rescue

Muffin

Muffin was released when her owner moved into a senior living center that does not allow pets. This gentle four year old is a real cutie. She loves children, gets along well with other dogs and cats, and will follow you everywhere. Muffin loves to play outside or pass the time with her toys. She is house trained. She has a keen sense of hearing and even pays close attention to unusual sounds coming from the TV. She is used to spending time alone but enjoys being around people and loves to be the center of attention.

Muffin is up to date with all of her vaccinations. She is spayed and will be microchipped for you.  She is a mostly black and white tricolored pure bred Cocker Spaniel.

If you are interested in meeting Muffin, please make sure you’ve completed an online adoption application.

Chelsea

Chelsea is a senior female that is looking for a new home.  Although she is around eight years old, it’s hard to tell by looking at her.  She doesn’t have a speck of gray!  She’s active and very loving.

Chelsea is a small girl, only around 20-25 pounds.  She’s mostly black with a little brown here and there.  She is house trained and can be trusted off-leash, although we always recommend that dogs be on a lead in high traffic areas!  She does have a thyroid condition that requires her to have daily medication that is reasonably priced.  She is spayed and will be up to date on her vaccinations and microchipped for her new owners.  She is an owner surrender.  She is a darling girl that responds well to her name and knows basic commands.  She’s starved for love and hopes that you will be the one that will give it to her.

If you are interested in meeting Chelsea, please make sure you’ve completed an online adoption application.

Max

Meet Max!  Max is a seven year old chocolate and tan male that came to us from a local shelter.  He was an owner surrender and is the sweetest guy you’ll ever meet!

Max is a bit larger than the typical Cocker Spaniel.  He has a coarser coat which was trimmed down while he was in the shelter.  The groomer stated that he was a joy to deal with and didn’t complain even when he went outside and got stickers in his foot and had to have them removed!  He is neutered,  house trained, microchipped and up to date on his vaccinations.  He has had obedience training and knows basic commands.  He can be timid at times and seems to be frightened of some moving objects.   He loves to go on walks, but can pull a bit and does lunge at other dogs while on walks.  He gets along well with other dogs and cats and we feel he would be fine around older children.  He doesn’t quite know what to think of babies.

Max bonds quickly with anyone that will show him affection.  He will make a wonderful addition to any home, but would do best in a home with a doggy door and someone to give him lots of attention.  If you are interested in meeting this love bug, please make sure you’ve filled out an online adoption application.

Brownie

Brownie has an application pending that will most likely turn into an adoption!

Hi – My name is Brownie. I had a really troubled life early on – I was rescued at four months old. My skin, ears and eye was so bad that I had to have immediate vet care. My eye was so bad that is had to be removed.

Now, after about six months, I am better than I have ever been. My foster parents went two weeks without even knowing I was without eye.

I am still a puppy with all the excitement and craziness that implies. I love to be around other dogs and have not shown any issues with kids. During adoption events, I haven’t had any issues with small children.  I haven’t met a cat yet!

I am a great dog with little issue with the missing eye. I need a strong family to keep me on the course I am on but will be s wonderful dog for someone.  I’m fully vetted, neutered, and microchipped and am waiting for you to take me home!

If you are interested in meeting Brownie, please make sure you’ve completed an online adoption application.

Molly

Molly is a seven year old solid black female that currently lives in New Mexico. She is an owner surrender and would like very much to retire to the beautiful mountains of Colorado! She tells us that in her perfect new home, she would be the “only” dog and that there would be no other distractions like kids or cats. She says that she’s very nervous about the other dogs in her current home trying to take her food and her toys, not to mention the attention that she wants from her owner!

Molly is a sweet, submissive little girl. When she was younger, she had bladder stones and had to have surgery to remove them. Now she’s on a prescription diet to make sure this situation does not recur. Her owner says that she occasionally has accidents in the home, but when they go out of town and leave her with friends, she never soils their house, so they believe its the stress of her current home causing this behavior. She is spayed, and up to date on her vaccinations. She knows several commands such as sit, stay, come, and go to bed, which means go to her crate! She likes to go on walks, but gets excited and pulls a bit on the lead.

If you are interested in giving Molly a new forever home, please make sure you’ve completed an online adoption application.

Puck

Puck has an adoption application pending!!

Hi there, my name is Puck. I’m so glad you want to learn more about me – hopefully you’ll like what you see! I came to Rocky Mountain Cocker Rescue from a shelter in Pueblo. My previous owner couldn’t keep me anymore because of issues with his landlord. I didn’t understand much of that – all I knew was I really liked my person and my house and then I wound up in a cage in a scary place. A shelter is no place for a 5 years young, handsome boy like me! Luckily, some nice people came and got me out and they’ve been taking really good care of me. I got a haircut, my teeth cleaned and I’ve even lost a little weight! I’m all ready to go home with my new forever family and love them so much they’ll wonder how they ever lived without me.

You are probably wondering if I would be a good fit in your home. My foster parents tell me I’m a pretty amazing and easy-going guy. I already love you and I haven’t even met you. I love your kids, I love your cats and I love your dogs – basically, I’m a lover! If you would like to let me lie in your lap all day and pet me, that would be fantastic. If you’re a little more active, that’s okay by me too! I really enjoy my walks and I do just fine on a leash. Playing outside with you in the yard is really fun too. Swimming is another favorite pastime of mine. I like to swim with ducks in the lake at the park. Don’t worry, I would never hurt them, I just think they’re pretty cool! I am always happy when I am with my people so I will fit into a loving family and their lifestyle with no problem! As you can see, I’m a pretty perfect little guy. I am playful, I am friendly, I am loving, I am Puck! Come meet me today!

Please make sure you’ve completed an online adoption application if you are interested in Puck.

Cocoa

Cocoa has an adoption application pending!  You can still apply with the understanding that she may not be available.

“I don’t do fashion; I AM fashion.” So said Coco Chanel, who would think this little girl was equally fabulous! This Cocoa Chanel (love the pun!) is five year old AKC-registered owner surrender from Arkansas. Cocoa is a sweet little girl who will make a great family pet. She gets along with other dogs and all people. She is perfectly housetrained and also crate trained. She sleeps best in a crate at night, but loves to cuddle on the couch too. She loves squeaky balls, and knows sit, lie down and come. She is very food motivated, so learned these tricks quickly.

She tolerates having her ears cleaned and lets you take things away away or out of her mouth easily. She had an unknown injury to her right eye in 2009 and had it removed, but that doesn’t affect her at all (and it doesn’t look creepy!). Her coat is shiny and healthy, except that the fur on the front of her throat has been rubbed off—we’re not sure if that’s from a shock collar or pulling at a tie-out. So we would request that Cocoa be walked only on a harness.

We believe Cocoa was originally in a rural environment, and she is adjusting to the bustle of a city neighborhood—she is learning the command ‘hush’ to keep her from barking at people outside. When she arrived at her foster home, she was a hefty 40 lbs, but with a diet and walks she is now a svelte 34 lbs! Cocoa has had her ears and teeth cleaned and will be microchipped shortly and she is up to date on her vaccinations. You know what they say—Chanel is forever! Can’t you be Cocoa Chanel’s forever home?

If you want to meet me, please make sure you’ve filled out an online adoption application!

Coco’s Happy Tale

Carol and Coco

Coco is another of our sweet Cocker Spaniels that never made it onto the Web site.  Word of mouth led her to Carol before we could even post her.  Coco came to us from a local shelter and she needed to be spayed and groomed before we could get photos of her to post to our Web site.  Her foster mom had heard that Carol was looking to find a new companion after her beloved Brooke had passed away from cancer.  So, a meeting was arranged and that was that!  Carol has a new companion and Coco has a new forever home!  All is well in their world.

Butterscotch’s Happy Tale

Chad, Tara and Astyn (formerly Butterscotch)

Butterscotch is one of those lucky rescue dogs that never made it onto the RMCR Web site.  On the day that she was surrendered by her former owners, she went to an adoption event in Colorado Springs.  Chad and Tara happened to walk by and noticed her.  After talking it over, they decided that they would like to give her a new home.  They submitted an application and after it was processed, they welcomed her into their home and are now calling her Astyn.  Tara wrote to say that she fits right in to the home and that she really wanted to play with the resident cat.  At first, the cat wasn’t so crazy about having a canine sister, she was getting braver and we assume that by now they’re good pals!

Ramsey

Ramsey is a four year old male Cocker Spaniel that came to us from Arkansas. He has beautiful unique coloring – he’s red with black mixed in that almost makes him look like a sable, and the tips of his ears are also dark colored. He was a stray that was saved from a high-kill shelter and fostered locally until we could transport him to Denver.

Ramsey is gentle and loving and gets along well with other dogs, children and cats. His only fault is that he is an escape artist. Potential adopters will need to have a secure yard with a tall privacy fence. He should also not be left in the yard unsupervised until he can be trusted and should be crated or kept in a secure area when left alone. This is most likely a form of separation anxiety where he is on a mission to find you when you are not at home! He has been neutered, has all of his vaccinations, and is microchipped.

If you are interested in meeting Ramsey, please make sure you have completed an online adoption application.
