Rocky Mountain Cocker Rescue

Boots

Boots is a young Cocker mix – possiblya Cockapoo.  He’s black with white markings.

His foster mom says he cuts a rakish figure with his spats and crooked grin.  After the excitement wore down when he first got to her home, the other dogs decided to take a nap on the sofa.  Boots sat in the middle of the room and looked at each of them, walked over to each one and looked them in the face before giving a play bow and tried to get them excited.  When no one stirred, he bounced out of the room through the kitchen to the back yard then out the pet door to find maybe some opportunities there.   He is a determined lap sitter but he’ll squeeze between the back of the chair and your back if you already have an occupied lap.  He is learning “Come” and potties outdoors but he needs help with “Stay’.  He is sure that that is for dogs that are less imaginative than him.

Boots is around 25 pounds and has a curly tail and infectious humor. He loves everybody.  H’e’s neutered, up to date on vaccinations and micro-chipped.  He settles into a crate after a few minutes, but prefers to be free!

If you are interested in meeting Boots, please complete an online adoption application.

Monthly Event Change Announcement

Earlier this year, RMCR announced that we would be attending an adoption event at Wilmore Nursery every third Saturday of the month.  As it turns out, the adoption events at Wilmore fluctuate and are not consistently every third Saturday and the schedule often conflicts with commitments we have with other events.

Consequently, we’ve agreed to extend our relationship with Petco.  The Petco store at Park Meadows has invited us to be present every third Saturday of the month at their location.  Our standing monthly adoption events at Petco are as follows:
First Saturday – Petco – Highlands Ranch, 1265 Sgt Jon Stiles Drive, Highlands Ranch, CO 80129, 303-346-0471
Second Saturday – Petco – Southlands, 24101 East Orchard Road Suite C, Aurora, CO 80016, 303-627-5710
Third Saturday – Petco – Park Meadows, 9425 East County Line Road, Englewood, CO 80112, 303-708-0616

We will be at each of these events from 9:00am until 4:00pm, either inside or outside depending on the weather.  We invite all interested parties to stop by and visit.  We also encourage previous adopters to bring their dogs for a visit so that we can catch up on how they are doing in their fabulous new lives!

In addtion to these regularly scheduled events, we will also have a second team that will attend other special events such as the Pearl Street Fair as we are invited.  Please check back often to see when these additional events will be held.

3-5-10: My name is “Grayson” and I was so lucky to be rescued by my foster mom! She has taken such good care of me, and I am finally comfortable and safe. I am neutered, and about 7-8 years of age. All my shots are current, I am heartworm negative, and I am just looking for love now – somebody who will love me every day and spend time with me. My eyes need drops every day for a touch of ‘dry eye’, but I am a healthy boy, and ready for my second chance to be your forever love.

Bailey

Bailey is a small, 5.5 year old, neutered male Cockapoo who was surrendered by his owner due to her health challenges. This cutie pie is a little intimidated by new dogs, especially bigger dogs, but once he gets to know the dog he is fine and would love to have a buddy. Bailey would also love to have school age children to play with in his new home.

Bailey is house trained, but not crate trained. He may have a little separation anxiety since his owner reported that he sometimes marked the baseboards (nothing else, just the baseboards) in some rooms when he was left alone. This behavior can be eliminated through training.

This little boy also loves to rip up his blanket or bedding, so we would recommend that he have an old blanket to call his own that he can tear to his heart’s content. Of course, Bailey would love squeaky toys, balls and chew toys as well! No little Cockapoo’s life would be complete without lots of toys to carry around and call his own.

Bailey would love a home with a fenced yard and doggie door so he can come and go as he pleases. A privacy fence would be best so he isn’t tempted to bark at the passers-by. He would be a very happy dog if he could have another playful dog and/or children aged 7 years and older to play with every day.

Bailey is up to date on all his vaccinations and ready for his new forever home!  Just fill out this online application form.

Eli

Eli is just about two years old and was surrendered by his family because of allergies.  Here’s what his foster mom has to say about him:

Eli is like a 1940’s Bogart lover.  He swoons against your leg when  you sit down and walks between your ankles to state his territory. He sits, comes when called and uses the pet door to do his necessaries in the back yard.  He has put weight on during his first two years our of sheer loneliness.  But, surrounded by friends,  he doesn’t seem to need food as much and eats very little.  He’s just too busy being happy.  He would like to sleep with you but accepts the crate if you ask. When I say he is sweet, it is an understatement,   He is so eager to please, it’[s almostembarrassing!  He LOVES having his own person and he will never bore you if you are a stay-at-home owner. You will have a loving companion that will make you feel like royalty.

Eli is up to date on his vaccinations and is micro-chipped.  This litte guy will find a home quickly, so if you are interested in meeting him, please complete an online adoption application.

Maddie

Maddie has an adoption application pending!!

.Maddie is a nine year old Cocker Spaniel that recently lost her owner and is looking for a new home.  She is a black spayed female and came into rescue with her best pal, Flag.  She would like to be adopted with Flag, but it is not necessary.

Maddie is spayed and is up to date on her vaccinations which will be due in June 2010 except for rabies which will not be due until June of 2011.  She is good with other animals, but would prefer all of your attention if possible!  She is house trained and is in good health.

Maddie’s former owner had her own home-based business and was at home with her a lot, so she is used to having someone around.  Currently she spends 5-6 hours unsupervised and is fine.  The best home situation for her would be with owners that either work part-time, have a home-based business, or are retired.  She would really like a nice fenced yard so that she can get out and investigate.  We recommend a home without young children since she’s never lived in that environment.  She has done fine with children at adoption events.

If you are interested in meeting Maddie, please complete one of our online adoption applications.

Travi

Travi is a four year old spayed female Cocker Spaniel that spent her life up until now in a puppy mill outside of Independence MO.  Luckily, the breeder decided to get out of the business of Cocker Spaniels, which is how she came to Colorado.  As with so many puppy mill dogs, Travi is a little shy and not very confident when it comes to new situations.

She is a very sweet, gentle dog who loves to watch TV and chimes in with the sounds on the doggie TV shows.  She plays with the other dogs in her foster home and is learning to interact with them now that she’s no longer caged.  She’s a little timid when it comes to quick movements or loud noises.  She likes to sleep on her foster mom’s bed.  She is coming along nicely with her house training, however she will need patient and consistent reinforcement as she learns these new behaviors.

Travi has been recently spayed, micro-chipped and is up to date on all of her vaccinations.  Her beautiful white coat has a couple of tan spots and is quite silky as opposed to some fluffy Cocker Spaniel coats.  She would do best in a quiet environment without young children who might tend to scare her.  She would be fine in a home with other dogs and cats.

If you are interested in meeting Travi, please complete an online adoption application.

Every Princess Should Live Happily Ever After

Princess with Janet and Helen

Helen and her children have had dogs nearly all their lives, so they know a good dog when she walks through the door! When Princess, who was found as a stray in another state, walked in Helen’s front door and immediately came over to Helen to sit by her side, it was clear that this adoption was meant to be. Helen and her daughter, Janet, just rave about how quickly and easily Princess settled into her new home as if she knew she belonged there from the start. Princess has bonded with Helen and stays by her side day and night, watching over her and snuggling with her just as a beloved Cocker should!
