After spending several weeks in a shelter, I was saved just in time by Rocky Mountain Cocker Rescue because I told them I was a Cocker-mix. My gorgeous dappled coat and trim, energetic body are admired by many. I would love to be a working dog as I have some herding tendencies. I am a very smart dog and I can get bored if not given something to do. I will give you my undying love and devotion if you will give me a chance. He is Focused, very aware and devoted but can be over protective, dominant and persistent
Sometimes, when I guard things, you will need to distract me so I can walk away. I would love to learn tricks and run, climb and jump. If I stray or jump the fence, I will return right away when you call me. I don’t like retrieving balls nor having my hair brushed but I get glowing reports from the vet and groomers after taking sedation meds. I was born to be active and need a good amount of daily exercise. I currently live with other dogs but would rather have my human all to myself. I get nervous and bark when dogs come running past me while I'm in 'my spot'. There are times when I'll use my nose and head to move them out of my way. I might even nip at their rear ends hoping they will “move-it-along”. I don't like others near my food or bones. I'd rather have a pack of humans, but if I had to live with another dog, I would prefer calm and quiet siblings. I am very sociable and enjoy the company of all humans. Can be intolerant of touch and can become cautious and apprehensive. Can be controlling in a group of dogs - mostly happens indoors and he is better when he is outdoors with other dogs.
My favorite game is following my human buddy everywhere. If you dig in the yard, I will make sure you are doing it right. If you go into the garage, I will sit by the door and wait for you to come out. If you spend time outside, I will stay close in case you need anything. I love to jump into the car and join you when traveling, but when the car moves I get anxious and may sing. I prefer humans over the age of 12. When I'm resting, please don’t disrupt me with a touch; a simple hello as you pass me by is best. I really don’t like when people reach to pet me and I could bite if you do that. That worries me so I would rather not be touched. I do not like to cuddle. Just let me enjoy being near you without touch
I am looking for a forever home with active humans to provide me with a variety of jobs. I dream of living on a farm or a ranch, but a home in the suburbs with a large yard and a very tall fence would suit my fancy, also. I do not like being bored so if you think you have some activities and jobs for me, take a chance on me and consider taking me home with you.
