Needs care for foster vacation Oct 12 - 26.
Buddy came to rescue after his owner passed away. Soon after arriving he underwent a complex hernia surgery and a dental with several extractions. While caring for Buddy I learned what a sweet and rather angelic dog he is. He is loving, accepting, and calm. Buddy is a very sweet special needs dog. His attitude has certainly brightened up since his surgery. Buddy does sleep a lot if allowed, so he needs encouragement to get up and socialize with his pack and get in his walking. Buddy does have a circling habit which might have started from boredom so he needs to be re-directed. It seems like his vision is limited but he makes good eye contact when getting his attention. Buddy has chronic arthritis and lower back vertebrae stiffness. He takes daily comfort medications. He needs assistance with stairs but will try with help. He can go down easier than up stairs. Would do best in a low key home home without or with limited stairs. He might be good for a senior but one who can still encourage to be active and one who can help him up stairs when needed. It is a pleasure to foster Buddy. Available for adoption to a family who would enjoy working with this gentle, low demand special needs dog. Regular exercise will be important for Buddy's rehabilitation. He would do best in a home with no or limited stairs. He would love to be with children. Does well with other dogs.
If not already, Buddy S will be micro-chipped, neutered (if age appropriate), and up-to-date on his shots prior to adoption. If you would like to meet Buddy S to see if he is a good fit for your home, please fill out an Adoption Application online.
