Barney is a sweet gentle boy who needs lovin'. He has limited vision but gets around pretty good with the help of his dog buds. Once Barney trusts you, you are his bud and he loves to follow you everywhere. Cuddling beside you is what he loves the most and loves to sleep with his people. Barney is just starting to learn to walk on a leash so more training is needed. Barney has the basics of housebreaking down but will spot if not watched. He knows to use the dog door. Occasionally if you are sitting and not paying attention, you will get a lick on your knee saying "I am here." Ophthalmology consult revealed the cause of Barney's low vision; he has Progressive Retina Atrophy (PRA) which is causing atrophy or degeneration of the retinal tissue. This is a painless condition. There is no cure for PRA but the dog can still have a good quality of life as he learns how to compensate for his developing blindness and utilizes his other senses to make up for vision loss. He has already mapped out his foster's home and plays with the other dogs.

If not already, Barney O will be micro-chipped, neutered (if age appropriate), and up-to-date on his shots prior to adoption. If you would like to meet Barney O to see if he is a good fit for your home, please fill out an Adoption Application online.
